The intrepid explorer Indiana Jones sets out to rescue his father, a medievalist who has vanished while searching for the Holy Grail. It is not "Magic" you HERETIC BLASPHEMIC ! Jesus do not use "magic" he is God himselve he does MIRACLES not magic.
And for his whole life, Indy saw his dad choosing the grail research over him, but at the end his dad chose saving him over saving the grail, and I always thought that was a powerful moment for Indy.
Also, Sean Connery and Harrison Ford is a match made in cinematic heaven.
Harrison Ford and Sir Sean Connery passed up three subsequent opportunities to work together. Connery accepted a role in The Hunt for Red October (1990) while Ford declined the role of Jack Ryan, which went to Alec Baldwin instead (Ford later took over the role in Patriot Games (1992)). Ford and Connery declined the roles of Alan Grant and John Hammond, respectively, in Jurassic Park (1993). Connery declined to come back from retirement to reprise the role of Henry Jones, Sr. in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).
They really DID play off each other well, didn't they?
You want to know why people have never found The Holy Grail, it’s because they are looking for the wrong cup, the real cup that Jesus drank from during The Last Supper wouldn’t be gold or embroidered with diamonds and jewels, because he was the son of a carpenter and would not have been able to obtain or afford a golden goblet.
apparently being a son of god and the adopted son of a carpenter would mean incredible wealth until either corruption due to vices or a direct order from holier than thou father god telling you to die for the sins of all true non believers. Besides Jesus spent his fortune funding his meandering into the Roman empire and their exorbitant entry and exit taxes.
"Nazis. I hate these guys."
Fun Fact: Sir Sean Connery and Harrison Ford wore no trousers during the shooting of the entire Zeppelin sequence. It was a hot set.
Clean Rats Fact: 2,000 rats were bred for the production. Breeding them specially was necessary, as ordinary rats would have been riddled with disease.
Authentic Battle Damage Fact: Harrison Ford cut his chin in a car accident in southern California when he was about twenty years old. In the movie, this cut is explained by young Indiana Jones (River Phoenix) cutting his chin with a whip.
Authentic Costume Fact: Most of the uniforms worn by the Nazis in the Berlin book-burning scene are authentic World War II uniforms, not replicas. A cache of old uniforms was found in Germany and obtained by costume designer Anthony Powell to be used in this movie.
Young Indiana Jones Fact: Harrison Ford nominated River Phoenix to play him as a teenager, having worked with him before on The Mosquito Coast (1986). When describing how he prepared for playing the role, Phoenix explained that he didn't really base his portrayal on the Indiana Jones character, but on Harrison Ford. So he observed Ford out of character before acting his part.
I remember when I was a little girl, I was lucky to be chosen to play as a villager kid in a stunt show of Indiana Jones at Orlando.
I’m now a History/Social Science major, I looked up to Indiana Jones as a child, as we both share the same interest of advocating for sacred ancient artifacts to be housed in museums for the public, instead of allowing them to be sold off to greedy billionaires who allow them to rot away in their own private collections.
History deserves to be preserved and shared.
"Elsa" and "Let it go" sounds familiar. 😉
Frozen (2013).
So a couple of things I didn't share on the patreon video was:
Sean Connery improvised the line "She talks in her sleep." Also he wasn't the first choice for the role of Henry Jones Sr as they were thinking of having Geegory Peck (Aticus Finch- To Kill a Mockingbird), in the role and to be completely honest I think it would have been interesting to see him as Indy's Dad.
we need to get 'To Kill A Mockingbird' on this channel.
And that look Indy gave him was ACTUALLY Harrison Ford's reaction.😂
Great reaction! 😊
RIP always to Sean Connery(Henry Jones Sr.), River Phoenix(Young Indy), and to Denholm Elliott(Dr. Marcus Brody)!
This, along with "Raiders of the Lost Ark", is my favorite of the Indiana Jones movies.
Sean Connery and Harrison Ford have such fantastic father/son on-screen chemistry.
Fun Fact: River Phoenix, who plays Young Indiana Jones in the opening flashback scene, played Harrison Ford's son in the 1986 movie "The Mosquito Coast"(which I highly recommend). And that it was Harrison Ford himself that recommend that River Phoenix for the role of the younger Indy. That was perfect casting!
Fun Fact #2: The 'Canyon of the Crescent Moon' that everyone travels to to find the Grail is a real place in Jordan called the Al Khazneh temple.
I can't remember if you've already watched it yet, but even though it's not widely popular I recommend the 4th movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". If anything, just to finish out the series until the new one comes out. To me, it's not as great as the other three. But it does have some good parts.
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
I actually like it honestly if anyone were to be involved with stuff like in that movie it'd be Indy is it my favorite no but id probably put it above Temple of Doom
Both River Phoenix and Sean Connery died on Halloween.
Something else aswell the ending of this movie almost wasn't filmed in Jordan because at first they didn't have permission to film it, but after Spielberg met with the king of Jordan he was granted permission to use the location and he began filming the ending in August of 1988
This is a trilogy like LOTR, where all of the films are just perfect.
I love Temple of Doom, but you give it too much credit lol
@@Xgendude14 cool
And then there came Kingdom of the Crystal Skull...
@@jeffreyfike3384 We don't talk about that one.
Yup as a trilogy it's perfect. Up there with Back to the Future as one of the best trilogies ever. I'd put the LOTR movies there too, but not the Hobbit.
The original Raiders is still my favorite in the series but this one is the most fun. R.I.P. Sean Connery, River Phoenix and Denholm Elliot
I loved Indiana Jones when I was a kid. It's actually what inspired my love for history.
I love history too! But World War II is what made me love history.
As long as you stayed away from the grave-robbing part . . . 😂
@@petrosinella There's a world of difference between archaeology and grave robbing. He doesn't find treasure for personal profit and glory, he finds artifacts to go to a museum so people can witness a piece of history.
@@StephenLuke WWII is one of my top five favorite history subjects.
"No ticket" is my fav part of the entire film, maybe even the series
Sir Sean Connery was always Steven Spielberg's first choice to play Indiana Jones' father, as an inside joke to say that James Bond is the father of Indiana Jones. If that had failed, Gregory Peck and Jon Pertwee were backup choices for the role. Spielberg had always wanted to do a Bond movie, but did Indiana Jones as a James Bond-type character. In keeping with the James Bond theme, the movie has many Bond movie co-stars: John Rhys-Davies, Alison Doody, Julian Glover, Stefan Kalipha, Pat Roach, Eugene Lipinski, Michael Byrne, and Vernon Dobtcheff.
Jon Pertwee? I wanna visit _that_ alternate reality
@@NoKoolAidForMe Did you know that the gun Donovan used to shoot Indy’s father was a Walther PPK? That's the type of gun James Bond uses.
41:58 It’s a good thing they had to leave the Grail behind. If they do, somebody will steal it and use it to cheat their death. Indiana was looking for his father in the first place. Not the Grail
The only thing that doesn’t add up is when they go under water to hide from the fire ball is that the drawing of the shield would be wet and destroyed and unusable.
39:43 that scene scared the shit out of me when i was a kid.
Depends on what kind of paper he used. It's obviously not normal paper. Vellum, which is used for rubbings, is waterproof.
Amazing film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade starring Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, John Rhys-Davies and River Phoenix as a young indiana jones. Thank you bro great reaction next time Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the Crystal Skull👍👍👍
15:21 you know apparently this brotherhood is loosely based on the real life knights Templar, Who some people believe actually found the Holy Grail and the Ark of the Covenant.
26:43 that guy waving his hand is “Pat Roach” sadly this is the last Indiana Jones movie he’s ever been due to him passing away in “July 17, 2004”
My favorite of the trilogy, mainly because Sean Connery kills it with the comedy in this one.
I love how we see Indy's origin. How the got his iconic hat, how he got his fear of Snakes, how he learned to use the whip and got his chin scar.
Was waiting for this sooo much
I like how they explain all of Indiana"s background. We learn about why he hates snakes, when he started using the whip, how he got the hat and even the origin of his name.
River Phoenix was such a great choice for young Indiana Jones. To me this was the last good Indiana movie. Crystal Skull didn't have the right feel to be a proper Indiana Jones movie. I also found it so interesting that the leader of the group in the beginning left more of an impression on young Indiana than his own father.
We don't talk about that youtube film that never happened.
@@jamesmoyner7499 My bad, didn't mean to break the code :(
@@Smokie_666 you should watch the South Park episode where they troll the kingdom of the crystal skull movie. So funny 😂
@@johnny9000 Oh yeah I've seen it 😁 Luv me some South Park!
2:21 Just to clarify in case anyone here doesn't know, the actor playing teenage Indiana Jones is the late great River Phoenix, older brother to the great Joaquin Phoenix - and yes those are their real names. The Phoenix siblings are/were River, Rain, Summer, Joaquin, and Liberty. Rain, Summer and Liberty are women. Joaquin went through a stage here he called himself 'Leaf'. All five of them are vegans - they saw someone fishing as children as saw the fish struggling to breathe on the line and never ate anything related to animals again. Their family surname used to be Bottom but their parents changed it when they left that creepy cult they used to be in to symbolise their changing and rebuilding their lives.
Harrison Ford apparently suggested River for the role of the young Indiana after working with him in another movie 'Mosquito Coast' (I think).
River apparently often said that compared to Joaquin his acting talent was minimal.
River is still a cultural icon. Joaquin and Rain were with him at the Viper Room when he died, Joaquin was the one who ended up calling 911 because no one else inside or outside the club made the call for a full five minutes after River collapsed and started having seizures.
My favorite Indiana Jones movie
Another reason why I think you should watch the original James Bond movies is because for the earlier movies James Bond is played by Sean Connery who played in his dad in this movie which is exactly why Steven Spielberg cast him to be in these dad because he loved him as James Bond.
Very incredible movie.
My absolute favourite of the original three, the comedy works amazingly, the chemistru between Connery and Ford is unbelievable, and the overall story is actually quite poignant. All in all, the three are very different movies, with their own strong and weak points, but overall a really solid trilogy, and it still holds up beautifuly today.
I couldn't agree more dude.
You just listed the entire reasons I love this one the best as well!!
The actors playing Walter Donovan and Hitler portrayed Imperial officers in The Empire Strikes Back. The actor playing Salah was also in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery were close enough in age to be brothers
Julian Glover, who plays Donovan, is also the villain in Bond film 'For Your Eyes Only.'
Darth Vader force choked Hitler to death.
@@DarkAngel459 Don't Forget Julian Played The Spider In Harry Potter 2: The Chamber Of Secrets
@@XanderKellie2003 I've never actually seen it so didn't know that. Thanks.
In an earlier draft of the script the guy in the flashback sequence at the start of the movie who dresses like him and gives him his hat is made clear to be Marion's dad, Dr. Abner Ravenwood, who mentored Indy as an archaeologist a few years after that. I always liked that little detail and kept it in my headcanon even if it's no longer meant to be true in the final version of the movie.
RIP sean connery who played indiana jones father perfectly And i love Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade🤠🧔🏼🍷🐎🛵❤😊❤ it's such fantastic and an Amazing movie the duo between harrison ford and sean connery is awesome and funny and tim do a movie reaction to the goonies ready player one the blade runner movies the night at the museum movies the expendables movies beetlejuice ghost life of pi morbius elvis passengers pulp fiction the princess bride and bedknobs and broomsticks please and tim happy friday i hope your having a wonderfull weekend💪😎☀️🤙
My fave Indy out of them all! Connery and Ford are just perfect, Having River Phoenix (RIP we lost him way too soon) as young Indy was perfect casting.
Interesting fact about this film is that the events are entirely true Hitler actually did send his soldiers [not that they deserve to be called that] on a quest to find the Holy Grail they never did find it of course thank God
Yes, the Nazis were obsessed with the supernatural and the occult and would search for and loot sacred ancient artifacts that were believed to have great power.
What if they did but just chose to never return
@@boycottdisney2024 exactly just look at the rumours surrounding the santanic rituals they performed at Celle Neues Rathaus as well as the submarine bases that have been found in the Antarctic
1938 was the year the Nazis annexed Austria and they also marched into Czechoslovakia.
@@StephenLuke The term Nazi also means a member of The National Socialist German Workers Party.
My favorite bit of cinematic irony: the gun Donovan shoots Henry with is a Walther PPK, which Connery made famous during his time as 007
I saw that!
Sell the first movie was themed around Judaism, The second movie was themed around Hinduism, and this movie is themed around Christianity/Arthurian legend.
Hey Tim if you like these movies I highly recommend you watch the original James Bond movies starting with Dr. No.
Can we talk about how the fedora guy in the beginning didn't do anything to hurt Young Indy? He tried to talk him down and saved him from the lion.
The funny thing is that the finding of the Grail requires the seekers to commit a lifetime of guarding it via the immortality it gives. But you can't leave the place. Of course if you leave you lose the benefits.
The line "she talks in her sleep" was improvised by Sean Connery! The reason we cut to a different camera right after is because the crew stopped filming since they were laughing!
The “she talks in her sleep.” Line was an improvisation from Connery so that wasn’t acting on Harrison’s part
This movie like most amazing things came out the year 1989 (totally unbiased opinion btw definitely wasn't born then or something) and was actually my 1st Indiana Jones and still my favorite Sean Connery and Harrison Ford together are just too good plus we get both our support characters from the first film back one of my favorite scenes is on the air blimp where he tosses the Nazi officer out and then say completely straight faced no ticket which causes everyone to panic and show their ticket
Rip Sean Connery and River Phoenix, We lost him 30 years ago . River Phoenix was a force of nature , he was an amazing actor. If he were today ,he would have at least 2 Oscars .
The part about the dog is an inside joke between Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
When he made Star Wars, Lucas came up with the idea of Chewbacca from his favorite childhood dog. The dog's name was Indiana. Hence the inside joke.
25:59 imagine Indy having to explain to his dad why Hitler's signature was in his diary 😂😂
It's Indiana Jones: suspend all disbelief and have fun! Holy Grail has always been my favorite one.
this is by far the best one. I love how it shows why he hates snakes and where he got his whip.
Only Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull left, until the end of June when Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny releases in cinema.
that tank scene was a real stunt man.
34:41 Poor Indy he has such a crazy life.
40:32 if you want to know what that means that means once they leave they’ll become mortal again.
3:29 He wasn't afraid of snakes before - I don't think anyone can blame him for being afraid of snakes afterwards
Now you know why Indy hates snakes.
Nice reaction bro, hey I love watching all of your reaction videos and I have a big interest in them.
If you liked that prologue, they spun off a whole tv show out of it, _The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles_
It covers Indy's boyhood and teenage adventures, all the way up to his service during the First World War. He rides with Pancho Villa, meets famous spies, and even spends a night in Dracula's castle.
That other guy in the beginning was not the “original Indy” the kid was calling Indy Indy but Indianas style and wardrobe was definitely inspired by that guy. But that other kid wasn’t calling the man with the fedora Indiana. He was calling Indy , Indiana. The man in the opening scenes name is Garth but is also known as Fedora.
17:06 Jokes on you! Youre owned by that mouse, so I guess Indy is a Scottish Lord, lol
I kinda feel like with the concept of eternal life only existing within the seal, that Henry Jones' bullet wound would instantly come back as soon as he left beyond the seal?
The guy who played Donovan also played Maester Pycelle in Game of Thrones.
I Really enjoy all your reactions to these movies 👍!
This is my favorite, because of the History of the Crusade, and the special effects🤩
A spectacular finale to a classic trilogy. 💎
1. ROTLA had a snake pit, TTOD had a bug pit, and TLC had a rat pit. All 3 critters have their creep factors, but which would be the worst? 🤔
2. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery (RIP) were such an awesome father and son duo. They were so convincing that it's hard to believe they only had a 12 age year age gap in real life. Also River Phoenix (RIP) did a very good job as Young Indy.
3. Another reason I love these movies is how unique each of the female lead characters are. Marion, Willie, and Elsa all have very different personalities instead of being carbon copies of each other.
4. I also think Alison Doody dosen't get enough credit for her performance as Elsa. She played a femme fatale/evil seductress (with some morals) so well and delivered a convincing Austrian accent despite being Irish in real life.
I'd say the bugs. You don't exactly know which ones are venomous or not, same as the snakes.
41:45 Okay, I'm just gonna say it: Elsa just couldn't Let It Go...LOL!
Increíble reacción de Tim en 19:30... jajajaja.... excelente video Tim 👌
Is it a prequel is it a sequel the answer is both we start with a flashback story and then get the sequel to Raiders I always forget that Temple of Doom is chronologically the first film
We all forget that
Hey fun fact most of the Nazi uniforms in this movie are real Steven Spielberg and George Lucas borrowed them from a museum and another fun fact when they were doing that book burning scene Steven Spielberg told everyone working on it to cross your fingers as they do the Nazi salute and I think as they were throwing the books in the fire.
The Historical worth of The Holy Grail, no magic required would be absolutely priceless, same the The Ark of The Covenant.
An interesting fact: *Sean Connery* who plays Indy's dad, is my mom's celebrity crush! 😁
4:12 the fact is that Harrison ford has a scar on his chin when, he lost control on driving 🚘 while, putting the seatbelt on. 23:10 motorcycle 🏍️ sidecar. 23:26 knight posed 29:08 seagulls 29:39 now, Indiana Jones doesn’t have a tie anymore. 30:15 Elsa Schneider is getting emotional 😭 since, she remember him in Venice, Italy. 31:16-31:23 it can happen to barrel splits in the 🪨. 33:40-33:42 😂 35:15-36:28 circular 🪚 39:37 it’s doc brown! 39:44 also, I think 💭 Indiana Jones punch decomposes Donovan against the wall, if I’m right. 39:52 he chose poorly. 40:18 that’s my favorite line. 41:42 so long, Elsa! 42:19 can’t wait to see you watch the kingdom of the crystal skull ☠️ before, the dial of destiny comes out in June 30.
15:29 well if they did there research in the finding it that might lead to other people finding it before they do so it’s best to not know where it is, from their point of you.
I was at a church in Valencia, Spain that claims to have the Holy Grail on display. It's been approved by the Vatican as being the real grail too. Was really interesting to see and there is quite a story behind it; they've had the grail there for hundreds of years at this point. Not sure why it's not more well known that it is there though.
We got the Goodyear blimp.
out of everyone's deaths in this movie, elsa's has to be my favorite. Jones really liked and cared for her and how does she decides to repay him? Not only she betrays him but she also lets the main villain kill jones' dad just so she can get that golden cup. And even after everything she did, jones still tries to save her life but her stupid greed for that cup is what costed her life. So seeing her fall to her death was honestly satisfying to me 😆
But really, It's just sad that there are people who can be so selfish and greedy instead of caring for the well being of other people. It's such a disgusting yet pitiful emotion.
YES! this one is too cool for school, great one timothee💎
This is my favorite Indiana Jones movie
This is my favorite Indiana Jones movie! Harrison Ford and Sean Connery are great in this!
I can never decide which I like better: Raiders of the Lost Ark or The Last Crusade? They are alike, and yet have different elements to them. I adore the dynamic between Jones Senior and Jones 'Junior' haha! You really feel for both of them and of course, it can't be an Indiana Jones movie without someone dying a gruesome death. The Indiana Jones trilogy really is one of the best trilogies ever and for me, I like it as just a trilogy.
One thing I love about these movies is, despite what our beliefs or life experiences are, everything they show us is 100% real. There's still "magic" in the world.
28:29 I View that as a necessary evil.
Zeppelins used hydrogen (very flammable). Blimps use helium not flammable). Goodyear still flies two, maybe three.
29:12 Do not weep long for the birds (sniff....) they died a valiant and noble death.....doing their part to ensure that evil does not triumph....
Visit Petra in Jordan if you can.
How does Indy's satchel get it's strap over the tank's canon? It couldn't possibly, it just magically is around it.
And then it magically becomes undone. Decades later that still bothers me.
@@John_Locke_108 lol yup.
This is rhe best indy movie in my opinion.. my fav is temple... but 1 is great too.. all are good.. man I miss these types of movies
I still believe this is the true/good ending to Indiana Jones! The title (Last Crusade) and the ride into the sunset is the proof!
RIP River Phoenix
Notice that they left without the luggage
5:10 All that was missing was the 'Ta-dah!'
Jesus was a carpenter. She knew
Off topic but Yesterday I watched the little mermaid 2023 and it was amazing it’s the best remake so far in my opinion
I don't know I thought the jungle book was pretty good but I haven't seen all of their live action remakes either but also never liked the little mermaid as much so didn't really care about the new movie if its good ill probably watch it at some point
@@DanielGonzalez-vo5ni yep jungle book is my favorite 2 of the remakes
You're saying 'bro' a lot. Also, I always thought the scene in the library with the stamps was hilarious.
In Germany, at Lake Constance (Bodensee), there are zeppelins still flying through the air on a regular basis, and you can pay to get a ride.
Woo! Third movie! Not as goated as the first, but still a good entry in this little franchise!
1:26 Again, if this is like Star Wars in the timeline order, it would be 2,1,3,4. Dial of Destiny has yet to have a concrete date, but Im guessing its after Raiders. Well just have to see!
2:08 Indy is a Boy Scout in this flashback, making this experience the precedent to his love for archeology. If only the Girl Scouts can have that same impact. I kid, but I mostly did community serivce and cookie sales in the freezing cold in the Girl Scouts. Not bad, just...I feel like we couldve done more.
8:19 The Holy Grail is thought to be one of the most sacred religious symbols in the world, after the Ark of the Covenant. It is symbolized in the Eucharist; the consecration of bread and wine (or in my moms Presbyterian church, grape juice!), as the cup Jesus showed to his disciples on the last Passover of Jesus's life. We celebrate Passover, the Good Friday where Jesus was tried and executed, and Easter when He ascends.
8:31 I would guess not much more than a golden necklace or a raw gold nugget in todays money, since, again, it has great religious significance. But knowing that the Grail really exists would be enough for the believers!
10:49 Well, archeology isnt known for being an exact science. In this case, we dont really know a lot about the life of Jesus and the prophets that came before Him, notably of Enoch, whose book was excised from the Bible as we know it today.
11:52 What do you have against rats? Sure, wild rats arent okay in terms of parasites and junk, but pet rats are actually quite clean animals. They can emit a high pitched squeal in happiness, they look really cute in knitted clothes, and you dont have to clean up puke because they are one of the few animals that cant throw up or even gag! Well, you ARE from Canada, and Alberta has gotten rid of their rats...
12:51 When I was little, coloring in and revealing an etched surface was seen as the "cool kid" thing to do. Really, I think we all did it at some point lol
13:07 Luckily none of the rats actually died - they used real rats for half of the scenes with them, then they used fake rats for the fire scenes so no rats actually died.
This is my favourite of the franchise.
Elsa couldn't let it go.
This movie has a fair bit of goofiness to it, but if you don’t get offended by that fact, there is so much fun to be had. The cast has good chemistry; there is quite a bit of comedy; and there are some nice messages along the way too. All of it bookended by a classic ride into the sunset. It was a great way to end the trilogy at the time.
42:20 I don't exactly remember, but Indiana was George Lucas's dog
13:37.i thought for sure a bunch of rats would come up with them and freak those guys out
Steven Spielberg initially didn't want this movie to be about the hunt for the Holy Grail. He's Jewish. Yet, the Ark of the Covenant is very important to Judaism, while the Sankara Stones were attached to Hinduism. One of the biggest artifacts in Christian studies is the Holy Grail, alongside the Spear of Longinus, aka the Spear of Destiny, the Shroud of Turin, and several others. Many artifacts, such as bone fragments, attached to several religions have been proven to be faked by people seeking to capitalize on the frenzy they cause. In truth, while seeing the real artifacts would be great, they aren't more important than your own witness and testimony.
Indiana Jones game of the Last Crusade part of this movie.
So at the end, is that knight is now trapped for eternity with nothing protect?
He's going to die a natural death.
I live within a half hour of the main Good Year hanger. There’s blimps. But the one in the film may be a dirigible. But I’m not sure exactly what the difference is!
A dirigible has a steel skeleton supporting the balloon. That's why they ran on hydrogen, it was the only gas light enough to lift the rigid frame.
A blimp is just the balloon. They're much smaller than zeppelins, as a consequence. They can can only get so big.
