Now your frog isn’t gonna walk right😂
Actually i can say they walk better when you cut them like that and hes right they will sometimes js try to drag the frog under by the "legs" i cut em a little bit longer than his now when i get a bite damn near guaranteed a fish
I did this all this week I used frog out the box then I used one a cut and I caught more on the one I cut hook set a lot better . If the skirt is to long you will miss bites because bass tend to go for the skirt first thinking it’s the frogs legs
Thanks for explaining the reasoning behind it. I have seen lots of others doing this but not a single person has given the explanation for it 😂
I take the double hooks out and put a wire weedless hook down. It still glides over debris and my hookups are X 5.👍
@@JamesJones-cx5pkwhat do you mean? Could you pelase elaborate? I had about 10-13 blowups but did not catch a fish except for 1 time and that was today. 13 bites with 1 hookup lol. Help pleasee
@@allenfistbotm3336 I know right. Do you know how bass jigs have those bristle brushes over the hook to keep it weedless? They also make single hooks with a piece of wire that makes the hook weedless. They come in packs of 4-5. Pull the double hook out and put the single hook through the nose, out the ass facing down. 👍
@allenfistbotm3336 boil your frog for exactly 1 min in water to softened up the plastic
Boil ur frogs for a couple minutes to make the rubber soft so when the fish bites it will get hooked easily and you won’t lose as many fish
You want to boil it also. That softens the plastic and makes it easier for bass to crush it.
Oh yeah, definitely! This will also happen on a very hot day if the lure is sitting in the sun. remember to subscribe if you aren’t yet!
I would Never Ever cut a frogs legs. Adjust your hook set. The frogs legs is how you get the finicky big girls to bite when dead sticking it. Bass are opportunistic rip it all you want you’ll catch them. But your eliminating a key natural trait in the lure itself. To each their own. Happy Fishing 🎣
May get more hook ups but probably less bites. I'd rather take my chances
I like leaving them a little longer, it makes it a lot easier to walk the frog in place almost. Plus there so limber that the bass isn’t gonna have a problem swallowing the whole thing
I sometimes trim them when I know I’m in a body of water with a lot smaller average fish
It will work personally i wouldn't cut them down that short take half inch off at a time and make one side a lil longer than the other it will walk really nice u will catch alot more bass ive caught 100s on a frog
Ive never trimmed off my legs and never had any problems with hookups. Its all about timing
You also can expose the hook’s outwards a little. That’s what I do
I do the same, and the trimmed down skirts make the frog easier to walk
No wonder every time I set the hook the frog comes flying at me
No you just didn't wait a second, have to wait to feel the fish before setting the hook when fishing topwater.
Hell yeah. Great tip, greater lure.. I leave mine a hair longer for the action but preference is what makes it fun
Its called letting the bass eat the frog before you set the hook😂
Yea incase you didn’t know you are supposed to let the bass eat it before setting the hook. Thanks for asking!
@@TUFFBASSso when those things get in the bass mouth it will probably spit it out because the legs things that make it walk right?
Awesome but that is wayyyy too short try to make the legs around the same size as the frog or a little less never that small
You want the legs at long as the body. That’s what every single pro fishermen says
I appreciate the vid, helped me catch lots of Pike today. But please clean up the rubber bits next time, it may not seem like much, but its still litter.
That is great! 👍 I would also like to mention that after I realized I snipped the bits and they fell into the water I cleaned them up no worries! I respect nature and this video is a misinterpretation of that.
@@mrmaldoon8362because he didn’t and he’s full of shit. Should have done it in the kayak.
I like to leave one side a little longer for that side to side action.
you are technically supposed to cut the legs for that reason, but not that short it ruins the movement of legs
I just put trailer hooks on them as all my bait now and I never miss a fish, it's fitting right on the 2 other hooks.
That's a great tip! Thanks for sharing your fishing hack! Remember to subscribe!
NOBODY DO THIS. I DID IT AND NOW IM JUST MAD CAUSE I BOUGHT THAT FROG THIS MORNING FOR LIKE 15 BUCKS, I’m only 11 years old and now I’m not gonna be able to walk it right
I cut the legs completely off.. i get crazy hit on the same exact frog zero legs and it walks perfect
The legs don’t necessarily need to be that short but they do not need to be longer than the frog 👍
Sounds like you try to set the hook before the fish has got the lure down
Are you religious? If not, what would convince you to convert to Christianity?
Frogs are awesome but after catching a 5 and a 7 in the same week throwing a Heddon knocker 4 1/2 inch spook it’s hard to not throw it.
Nothing like throwing our trash into the lake. Great tip. 👍 Gonna try this next time. (Keeps the fish population down, i like it)
Keep your negativity elsewhere it isn’t right to litter so keep your crap in your bag.
How do you feel about a ball bearing snap swivel on the end of your line for faster change out of lures
You def cut it wayyyy too short bud.
Most do 0.5 of an inch, maybe an inch
I do many different lengths on different frogs, this length was most suitable for this frog and my circumstances
This is what NOT to do… when you want to catch more bass. Just get a smaller frog, always carry a normal size and a junior.
Definitely should be doing this to your frogs, the smaller frogs still have too long of legs. 🦵
@@TUFFBASS No I don’t think so. The legs give it action, no need to trim. Having a jr size frog can help with setting the hook more accurately. Not every bass can fit a whole pad crasher in its gullet.
People talking about litter like they dont hang up 20 lures every 3 months
@TUFFBASS dude, it's still littering. Preserve nature.... its not hard to cut that into a bag or back into the tackle box.
@@NoNameFrezit i mean i get it but lets be real; all trash ends up the same way regardless of where you throw it out at
Bro you are literally telling me I littered when I grabbed the clippings after I was done recording. Even if I missed one tiny 1 inch piece of rubber it isn’t going to do anything. Do not comment on things you don’t have solid proof of.
Frogs are a great way to find fish, but a bad way to catch fish.
Most fish lost by a frog is because the fish is slapping at it trying to stun it rather than eat it. Have a 2nd rod ready to go with a jig or Texas rig (or anything that's going to sink. When you get that blow-up, get that 2nd rod out as quick as you can. The fish will circle around and see it's stunned prey falling. That's when they'll eat it.
Lmao. What bad information. I've caught GIANTS gonna frog. They rarely slap at it. They destroy it.
@@danielkinn782 I apologize for offering some advice for the people just looking to catch more fish, not just giants. Frog fishing objectively has a low hook up ratio; congratulations to you for mastering the technique.
@@nathanbrady8529 you're welcome. And yes, I have mastered it. It's what happens when you practice. An EXCELLENT way to find active fish.
You just shorten your strikes big time. Won't have the action it normally has. I cut my legs as well but just a tiny bit.
Haven’t had any less strikes and the action is the same from what I can tell. Thanks for the comment!
I find a half inch off the tails and bend the hooks out for better hook ups works better then short clippin. Around scum it works but the tails being a bit longer help with walking. But damn are frog bass a blast!
Thanks for the comment! I do the same actually! Buy yea frog fishing is the BOMB!
Never caught anything on a frog
Try fishing early morning I think he will have great luck! And consider subscribing if you aren’t yet
cant even get bites on top water idk why but every time i try no luck :/
Dang, you need to try mornings/evenings as it is darker! Low light conditions are key. Consider subscribing if you aren’t yet!
Cut off too much. Cut off half of the amount and leave one slightly longer than the other and it walks better
Makes me wonder why theyre not made short to begin with
I know right, maybe so people can trim them to the length they like. remember to subscribe if you haven’t yet!
no do not do this leave them longer than this the size of the frogs body it doesn’t matter to the fish there gonna blow up on the body not the legs
Yes everyone should do this, i know what I’m talking about brother. But consider subscribing if you aren’t yet
@@TUFFBASSbro that is so short and every blow up i’ve had either they miss it fully or choke the damn thing
great. now i just need bass to actually try to bite my frog
😂 saaame
This is a lure for summertime. It’s one of my favorites. Get a kayak and fish the spots no one else can.
@danielrichardson6054 I use them post spawn and when summer hits I never use them. Straight horny toads, buzz baits, and big spooks..
In your dreams...
@@ianunderhill9458horny toads see you know what i’m talking bout them spawning frog fish walking right off the bank
