Resell store are always a rip off. Buy low, sell high. That's how they afford their ridiculous rent and still make a profit. People just need to stop buying from these overpriced stores. Royal reimagined for example, stores are trying to get $200 when they're still sitting (on sale) and probably paid $100 for them.

Im so glad someone finally made a video exposing them, the reason they charge these celebrities so much is because none of them care about what there spending when it comes A pair of shoes but normal every day people can't spend that kind of money on a pair of shoes
because they are paying complex for advertising them on their show, on the video. thats their business. its like paying for a billboard. they may even give celebrities a shoe budget. also the celebrities manager may pay for them to be on the Complex video and they give them a certain budget which can honestly be out of the managements own money they paid to get them on the show. Complex gets free promotion plus the money from the video and may even split with the celebrities on the show and celebrities get their own promotion, but i dont know their management, but there is a few things that could be happening here
Do mbappe, Mark Cuban, juice wrld, Haaland, and one of the random fan contest winners. I think it would also be interesting to see how complex videos are different compared to other ones like cool kicks. Also some complex episodes have stores where they sell all the shoes for retail so I think that could be a good idea to analyze

Brick and mortar stores have so much overhead. Rent payroll cam insurance tax’s B&O tax if you don’t make margins you go home broke.
Whenever I go to a reseller I lowball them hard. I bought phantoms for about $500 in the reseller but they were listed $1200 in the store. They struggle to sell expensive shoes because people won’t buy them.
People won’t buy because you feel like a sucker after buying 😂 and every time you wear them you thinking “Damn they got me”

I think this video is great. Yes do I think stores price high for shoes I can agree on some, but you do have to think about you are getting it in hand and that day. No waiting two to three weeks. You don’t know what can happen to your shoes in transit so the peace of mind. Also, as some others pointed out you have to have high margins due to paying workers in that store, two paying the rent that comes with that store, three taxes you have to pay back, & four what you actually make after all of that is deducted. I do agree with the video where the shoes are price high in some cases, but there is that other side to things we should see. But I am all for finding a better way for the world making buying shoes reasonable. Love the videos Harrison I will keep on supporting keep it up.
Some stores where they film charge retail. It depends the store. Also, day of filming and day of video release is different but we can’t really know the exact day they filmed. Very informative video

The stores gotta make money. It makes sense. Also depends on location. Popular sneaker shops will charge an arm and a leg just so you can say “I got these at xxx”. I don’t see a problem with this. Business owners open business to make profit, not break even

Please keep in mind all second hand stores have to make a good profit margins so even if stock x is a certain price a store might probably will be more for profit reasons

also 10-20% is a ok markup (not great but understable) due to being able to get the shoes you want the moment you walk in the store (provided they have your size), dealing with a company that you can visit in store and don't worry about shipping or shipping delays incase of exchange or refunds, plus in stores will have to pay higher saleries and rent then a warehouse based store such as goat or stockx

Come to Oregon. Portland in Downtown does have a Nike retail store Nordstroms partial retail Byte sneakers then just some real high end stores very close together. We do not charge sales tax either. We are one of 4 states that does not tax stuff. BTW Off White Sneakers at Nordstroms are below what is normal. Just do not use your debit or credit cards use Cash. No trace of merch on card for state to charge you taxs on.

you should see the shoes prices at reseller sneaker shops in california. It honestly pretty crazy on what they have there shoes priced at. Not too long ago I went to city kicks in san diego and they had this one pair of dunks in blue cost around 400 dollars, and when I went to check on goat they were around 200 dollars lmaooo I don't think the shoe prices in cali has calmed down.

Resell stores kind of struggle to be an actual option. In bigger cities they stick around because its kinda fun to blow money at the. Like there is a new resell store at my local mall every 2 years or amthn and its gone in 10 months. There are massive costs like wages and rent that you dont have to pay online, and thus there is a huge upcharge.
difference between people in complex videos and avg sneakerhead is that most of them dont care how rare they are they like them they buy them no matter the cost they gonna wear them not stock them on shelf or baby them. they dont have time to research how much the shoe cost on stockx. they buy what they like and that how is should be not by hype or rarity of it. plus they in position that it wont hurt them if they buy even a 20 pairs.
In about 4 min in you were saying how most the time a famous person goes shopping on complex they usually promoting something so its not bad to pay that little extra to promote whatever. Well can't u look at it like they are famous so by them shopping at a certain store ,he's promoting the store he's shopping at. So shouldn't the store be hooking them up ????? Idk. Brick and Mortar store need to pay rent. Overhead like electricity and more. Plus they provide job opportunities to the city or area. Imagine if everyone shopping online and getting lesser and lesser job around the town. Are stock X or goat able to employ all of them. Just to provide a different perspective on this. Another issue is like what Harrison said all famous people with some promo and having more money than most of us here. Spending more for them to get what they like instantly is more valuable rather than they need to search and wait online.
The release date of the episode is not the same date the video was shot. Complex record all their episodes for a season before putting them out. Its highly likely MKBHD bought them when they were at their peak which looks to be around 1650. Still a fleece but not as bad.

I think part of the reason these stores make money is cause of the parents who go in and buy the shoes for a present who don’t know that you can get them for cheaper

Whenever I see the price breakdown on the Complex sneaker shopping videos and always thought the prices looked high but you have to understand having the convenience of getting the sneakers right away in hand resale stores always have a 10 to 20% price increase for cost of overhead which is why I have never bought a pair of sneakers in a resale store

This video is good for those who don’t mind waiting to get the shoes but if you want them shipped right away the prices on StockX and Goat are higher. Also, have to account for rent on brick and mortar. Everything needs to be accounted for. At the end of the day just do your homework on what you want and how fast you want them. For me, I rather just purchase them online, and ship them right away.

Ok, nobody is getting robbed. It is a retail store, they price their items as they want. If the person wants better pricing they should buy on Stock-X, pay the stupid fees and then wait a few weeks to get their order (if the debacle of verification works).
