@@Mystic_WWThat would be nice if the Answer only unlocked after you beat the Journey, but it was designed to be playable on a fresh save file. They were trying to be considerate towards the people who beat Persona 3 before FES came out and didn't want to force them to play the entire game again just to play the Answer. If they did do it the way you recommend while also allowing you to start the Answer before playing the Journey, then it would also cause the issue of making it pointless to play the Answer without playing the Journey due to how much of an advantage your carried over progress would give you.
@@AnaverdGaiden a lot of other games know how to let you play them modularly without giving you trouble. Deltarune, for example. Your chapter 1 savefile isn't in? You can just play chapter 2 straight up. You'll miss some allusions to your previous progress, but you won't have to play through all of it again. They could've just allowed you to start the answer without a savefile, or carried your savefile over into the answer. It wouldn't make playing the answer by itself "pointless", that's preposterous.

If you can carry your save file over into the Answer, that's dozens of hours of progress you're carrying over into the compendium, which makes everything completely unbalanced. Then balancing the encounters and boss fights becomes a shit show because the developers don't know if they should base them around having godly Personas with perfect skillsets that you get from the main game or crappy Personas from a fresh save file. Imagine starting a Persona game with the DLC Personas you can buy in P5 that start as total gods, THAT'S what it would be like if the Answer had options to both carry over progress or start from scratch. Just total anarchy.
Let's hope the improvements Reload made to the gameplay come in here, especially with the compendium. And hopefully they fully animate Yukari's breakdown, because this is supposed to be a key moment in this expansion. And I think it'd get the point across much better if it became a full on anime cutscene of her tears of heartbreak, and Mitsuru hugging her and calming her down, along with special dialogue if you romance her. I made it too the 2nd last door. I just couldn't do it anymore. It was too frustrating. Like, it didn't feel like a challenge most of the time, it was just cheap.
At the start it looked like she had moved past losing the MC; but all this time she was stuck in the first stage of grief (denial). No wonder she was a mess; she had to go through anger, bargaining and depression in record time.
I'm so sorry that you had to play Portable... that version is like watching Star Wars at 240p in black and white with Russian dubbing and the special edition additions.
@@UseMePatra The combat isn't ideal in FES due to the lack of party member control, but it is by no means "trash". The game is easy on Normal, the AI control only becomes a problem on Hard. It's not worth the multitude of concessions you have to make in Portable compared to FES. It's fine as a 2nd way to play the game after you've already beaten FES, but if it's the only version of Persona 3 you've played then you're genuinely missing a majority of the experience of P3.
Just finished emulated P3F and I don't think I can bear to play it any longer. This video is a godsend for both me and any other new P3P players out there, thanks for making it in such high quality. Really sucks that this video is the definitive legally-preserved version of The Answer if you don’t have access to a copy of P3F and an emulator/PS2, even after Reload comes out. It really is a story worth knowing, especially since everyone knows about Makoto’s fate that’s left ambiguous at best in the main story.

@@jackowish3440 It's kind of a pain, but it's not THAT bad. It's mostly just that the bosses have too much HP and obnoxious skill sets. If Persona is typically of masterpiece quality, then the Answer is just "decent".
This is an issue with the fact it’s in widescreen here. On an original PS2, Persona 3 FES would always run in 4:3 aspect ratio so if it’s forced to run in 16:9 wide screen some cracks show, like text being improperly spanned or here, where those girls are supposed to run off screen; but since more of the scene is shown in widescreen you can just see them running up against the void

It was such a fun game and the memories stayed with me forever. I learned English thru this game afterall! I always wondered what happened after the ending, but I never bothered to look it up mainly because I just wanna keep speculating it. But I finally watch this today. Seeing a lot of the comments saying the actual gameplay part of the answer is annoying to play through, I am excited to see improvements to it so we can all enjoy the definitive version.

The Answer is also super frustrating after spending a year and a half grinding your characters to be decent (The AI will never allow your characters to be more than decent in teamwork) and my main character was godly, now after 1 month without fighting they can barely cast a spell anymore. Absolutely dreadful excuse to make us grindfest all the way up again.
THIS. I mean, i would understand they could "forget" their abilities if we were talking about, i don't know, 5 o 6 months. But The Answer is not even a month after the original ending, and just two months after they used their personas against Nyx 🥶
Nah it doesn't work like that Apathy syndrome is not caused by distorted desires, it's the lack of will to live and only subconsciously yearn for death disregarding other traits, but to erase that subconscious yearning, is to not live at all (metaphorically) as it is required in the human psyche to think and be conscious. There's an official p3 lore book that goes in depth.

You know i just realized atlus constantly makes it to where the people wish for nyx in some way. P4 it was the people wanting the fog in P5 it was people wanting to be controlled but if they combined there efforts they could permanently change the peoples minds but that would mean when that happens it would be the last persona game
They can just make something like what happened with P1 And 2. I mean like, remaking the series. P1 and p2 are connected but they aren't that really connected with p3 to 5. But p3 and p4 are connected and prob p5 Is connected too. So they can end everything with a persona 6 or 7 and keep the series.
@@pablosebastianromero7824 Persona 1 and p2 innocent sin are in the same universe however due to the events in innocent sin, a new universe is created which is the catalyst for enternal punishment and the persona games following it. However all of the remakes overwrite the base game canon (FES, Golden, Royal), and even the persona arena games are canon. Persona Q is a little different because it IS canon, however their memories don't carry over thus making it kinda irrelevant? The dancing games are also sort of canon but it's weird. P5 Strikers is also canon.

What I find funny is that Mitsuru only says she supports Yukari because Yukari supported her in the past, so it's basically just Yukari versus the rest of the team. Only that would make for a very lame boss battle, so they split everyone into groups instead xD
@@CathyAnimations I never thought about it until later, but the real answer to that scenario could have been gotten over with sooner, by going to the very moment the MC gave his life and powers to protect the world from something. Yukari was so selfish on saving the MC, she never thought about that. Being honest, the group focus was on trying to either to move on with the present or take a chance on the past. But the answer was in their faces if it weren't for that argument. MC gave his life to protect them, but from what?
Most the people say that Yukari is a bitch for acting like she acted, but most of the people that say that would act like that if they would have lost the only person that helped them to keep going.
I still would play this all over again just to listen to that cool new version of Mass Destruction and play as Aigis. I finished the Answer two times in the past and I hope it will be remade for P3 Reload too.

Okay so I'm watching this straight after playing persona 3 portable for the first time (the male mc to keep it canonical) I'd rather play fes but I don't have anything to emulate a ps2 on so I got p3p for my vita, is watching this enough to keep me knowledgable with the entirety of persona 3 as a whole?
There isn’t that much to know to be honest. The mc (or femc) soul is kept as a lock to keep nyx at bay and Elizabeth (or Theodore) left the velvet room to find a way to release their soul. You learn this in p4A I believe, one of the fighting games. Way better than the answer and it’s grindfest

I only ever played P3:Portable (never finished the FeMC storyline), so this was my first time learning about the epilogue for P3. You start out with no items, personas or intel on your enemies meanwhile they hit you like a truck. Literally couldn't take it anymore after dying four times by the time I got on the third floor, just to die again because my party members were all donkeys that kept missing their spells. After having barely beaten the final boss in journey on 5th attempt, with just Minato left standing with a sliver of health left to now THIS right out the gate. Yeah I think I'll be skipping The Answer like everyone says you should. on a side note after playing all the Persona games in reverse starting with 5, so far FES is at my top spot, It's very rough around the edges and among the hardest and most frustrating games I've ever played. The story. The theme. The characters and the music are definitely top tier in my book though. Moving on to portable now
Did you play it on Normal or Hard? On Normal it's pretty easy, but Hard is freaking brutal in the Journey. Also, look foward to Persona 1 and 2, those games are awesome!
@@AnaverdGaiden I finished the Journey on hard going full blind right after finishing 4. I almost dropped it a few times because of the difficulty spikes, I am so glad that I didn't. Its the best Persona game for me now. I'm not so sure about P1 as It's looking a bit too outdated for me. I will start Innocent Sin playthrough on my vita sooner or later though.
@@GracefulPelmeni Yeah, it probably would have been better to play 3 on Normal instead. The lack of party member control makes Hard tougher than any other game in the series, especially with how they never use AOE healing spells unless everyone is missing a bunch of HP. I agree, it's my favorite Person game as well! Don't go in with that mindset, "outdated" is just a term people use when they don't want to adjust to something that's not modern, even if it's good. Persona 1 has a better cast and story than Persona 5 does, and the music is phenomenal. Just make sure to play the PS1 version, the PSP version changed the whole OST and is overall a cheap port and a worse experience. The negotiations system in 1 and 2 is also leagues better than how it is in 5. I really hope Persona 6 takes from how it is in those games than 5's copy pasting of mainline SMT negotiations.

Just got through the original story of Persona 3 for the first time through P3P. After watching this whole thing (on 2x speed, mind you), I really feel like I dodged a bullet by not investing time in to the FES version. Like other comments have said, this epilogue would've been much better suited as an OVA or manga. The character development is nice, but to have it spread out over its alleged 30 hour run-time seems really unnecessary. Thanks for uploading.
So to help you. You remember when they said everybody would forget everything while the world would end. So when Makoto sealed nyx inside himself he took the end with him. That's how he died. You could hear everyone saying he wasn't feeling good. He took nyx with him so everyone could have peace. That's from my understanding. If anything, all The Answer did was further fuel my distaste for Yukari…She’s such a major witch for no reason and calls out the straw in other peoples eyes when there’s a giant RAFTER in hers. Her abilities as a persona user are pretty good but character wise, she’s as flat as drywall (just my opinion, please don’t hurt me)
i prayed to god everyday about joker team and narukami team (and perhaps the new team) to release makoto and destroy nyx together (won't happen and im cooked by all persona fans)
Nyx isn't the problem, and it would also be unwise to get rid of as the foundation of humanity's shared consciousness and all life on Earth is how it's keeping Shadows and Nyx's psyche repressed. To get rid of it would have the same result as Erebus calling to it; Apathy Syndrome for everyone.

that's the issue with persona games you can't just watch the story cause you'll miss all the small bits of diolog, like playing yakuza story only and you aren't in tune with the community
I really enjoyed playing this for the butt fuckingly hard difficulty, but I completely agree that this entire story was unnecessary. That said, there was still lots of cool imagery, interesting ideas with the personalized flashbacks, and a really cool final boss. I can't help but only recommend this to super fans of persona 3's battle mechanics specifically, and that's a REALLY specific niche. At the end of it all, this was a story that should never have existed. The emotional weight behind Aigis' big speech at the end of The Journey is becauzs she becomes one with the main character - in complete acceptance with death and the end. This story is a betrayal of her final character arc, though in the end, it doesn't really detract from the magnificence of the main story.

@@UseMePatra The combat isn't ideal in FES due to the lack of party member control, but it is by no means "trash". The game is easy on Normal, the AI control only becomes a problem on Hard.
It's not worth the multitude of concessions you have to make in Portable compared to FES. It's fine as a 2nd way to play the game after you've already beaten FES, but if it's the only version of Persona 3 you've played then you're genuinely missing a majority of the experience of P3.

Just finished emulated P3F and I don't think I can bear to play it any longer. This video is a godsend for both me and any other new P3P players out there, thanks for making it in such high quality.
Really sucks that this video is the definitive legally-preserved version of The Answer if you don’t have access to a copy of P3F and an emulator/PS2, even after Reload comes out. It really is a story worth knowing, especially since everyone knows about Makoto’s fate that’s left ambiguous at best in the main story.
The Answer is only 20 hours long, though, so it'a not like it takes very long to beat it.
I tried desperately to emulate it and got stuck doing that. After watching this I love the story, only wish i could've seen it properly.

This is an issue with the fact it’s in widescreen here. On an original PS2, Persona 3 FES would always run in 4:3 aspect ratio so if it’s forced to run in 16:9 wide screen some cracks show, like text being improperly spanned or here, where those girls are supposed to run off screen; but since more of the scene is shown in widescreen you can just see them running up against the void

Just finished watching it now. I played P3P ever since I'm in elementary school and I've been playing it until now-- I'm in college now. It was such a fun game and the memories stayed with me forever. I learned English thru this game afterall! I always wondered what happened after the ending, but I never bothered to look it up mainly because I just wanna keep speculating it. But I finally watch this today. The Answer is also super frustrating after spending a year and a half grinding your characters to be decent (The AI will never allow your characters to be more than decent in teamwork) and my main character was godly, now after 1 month without fighting they can barely cast a spell anymore. Absolutely dreadful excuse to make us grindfest all the way up again.

You know i just realized atlus constantly makes it to where the people wish for nyx in some way. P4 it was the people wanting the fog in P5 it was people wanting to be controlled but if they combined there efforts they could permanently change the peoples minds but that would mean when that happens it would be the last persona game

P1 and p2 are connected but they aren't that really connected with p3 to 5.
But p3 and p4 are connected and prob p5 Is connected too.

@@pablosebastianromero7824 Persona 1 and p2 innocent sin are in the same universe however due to the events in innocent sin, a new universe is created which is the catalyst for enternal punishment and the persona games following it. However all of the remakes overwrite the base game canon (FES, Golden, Royal), and even the persona arena games are canon. Persona Q is a little different because it IS canon, however their memories don't carry over thus making it kinda irrelevant? The dancing games are also sort of canon but it's weird. P5 Strikers is also canon.

@@CathyAnimations I never thought about it until later, but the real answer to that scenario could have been gotten over with sooner, by going to the very moment the MC gave his life and powers to protect the world from something. Yukari was so selfish on saving the MC, she never thought about that. Being honest, the group focus was on trying to either to move on with the present or take a chance on the past. But the answer was in their faces if it weren't for that argument. MC gave his life to protect them, but from what?

There isn’t that much to know to be honest. The mc (or femc) soul is kept as a lock to keep nyx at bay and Elizabeth (or Theodore) left the velvet room to find a way to release their soul. You learn this in p4A I believe, one of the fighting games. Way better than the answer and it’s grindfest
You did miss out on all of the FES cutscenes, since Portable is just a visual novel. So it's like you only saw half of every scene.

You start out with no items, personas or intel on your enemies meanwhile they hit you like a truck. Literally couldn't take it anymore after dying four times by the time I got on the third floor, just to die again because my party members were all donkeys that kept missing their spells.
After having barely beaten the final boss in journey on 5th attempt, with just Minato left standing with a sliver of health left to now THIS right out the gate.
Yeah I think I'll be skipping The Answer like everyone says you should.
on a side note after playing all the Persona games in reverse starting with 5, so far FES is at my top spot, It's very rough around the edges and among the hardest and most frustrating games I've ever played. The story. The theme. The characters and the music are definitely top tier in my book though. Moving on to portable now
Did you play it on Normal or Hard? On Normal it's pretty easy, but Hard is freaking brutal in the Journey. Also, look foward to Persona 1 and 2, those games are awesome!
@@AnaverdGaiden I finished the Journey on hard going full blind right after finishing 4. I almost dropped it a few times because of the difficulty spikes, I am so glad that I didn't. Its the best Persona game for me now.
I'm not so sure about P1 as It's looking a bit too outdated for me. I will start Innocent Sin playthrough on my vita sooner or later though.
@@GracefulPelmeni Yeah, it probably would have been better to play 3 on Normal instead. The lack of party member control makes Hard tougher than any other game in the series, especially with how they never use AOE healing spells unless everyone is missing a bunch of HP.
I agree, it's my favorite Person game as well!
Don't go in with that mindset, "outdated" is just a term people use when they don't want to adjust to something that's not modern, even if it's good. Persona 1 has a better cast and story than Persona 5 does, and the music is phenomenal. Just make sure to play the PS1 version, the PSP version changed the whole OST and is overall a cheap port and a worse experience.
The negotiations system in 1 and 2 is also leagues better than how it is in 5. I really hope Persona 6 takes from how it is in those games than 5's copy pasting of mainline SMT negotiations.

Just got through the original story of Persona 3 for the first time through P3P.
After watching this whole thing (on 2x speed, mind you), I really feel like I dodged a bullet by not investing time in to the FES version. Like other comments have said, this epilogue would've been much better suited as an OVA or manga. The character development is nice, but to have it spread out over its alleged 30 hour run-time seems really unnecessary.

So to help you. You remember when they said everybody would forget everything while the world would end. So when Makoto sealed nyx inside himself he took the end with him. That's how he died. You could hear everyone saying he wasn't feeling good. He took nyx with him so everyone could have peace. That's from my understanding. If there is a different explanation then hey maybe it's better than mine
he turned his soul into the great seal separating Nyx from Erebus, and only had about enough life left to keep his promise with the rest of SEES

If anything, all The Answer did was further fuel my distaste for Yukari…She’s such a major witch for no reason and calls out the straw in other peoples eyes when there’s a giant RAFTER in hers. Her abilities as a persona user are pretty good but character wise, she’s as flat as drywall (just my opinion, please don’t hurt me)

i prayed to god everyday about joker team and narukami team (and perhaps the new team) to release makoto and destroy nyx together (won't happen and im cooked by all persona fans)
Nyx isn't the problem, and it would also be unwise to get rid of as the foundation of humanity's shared consciousness and all life on Earth is how it's keeping Shadows and Nyx's psyche repressed. To get rid of it would have the same result as Erebus calling to it; Apathy Syndrome for everyone.

that's the issue with persona games you can't just watch the story cause you'll miss all the small bits of diolog, like playing yakuza story only and you aren't in tune with the community
I really enjoyed playing this for the butt fuckingly hard difficulty, but I completely agree that this entire story was unnecessary. That said, there was still lots of cool imagery, interesting ideas with the personalized flashbacks, and a really cool final boss. I can't help but only recommend this to super fans of persona 3's battle mechanics specifically, and that's a REALLY specific niche.
At the end of it all, this was a story that should never have existed. The emotional weight behind Aigis' big speech at the end of The Journey is becauzs she becomes one with the main character - in complete acceptance with death and the end. This story is a betrayal of her final character arc, though in the end, it doesn't really detract from the magnificence of the main story.
