This baby went into the LV store and was sent to California for vachetta replacement, meaning it was COMPLETELY DECONSTRUCTED! 😱And as a correction to myself, 80’s date codes are read differently! First 2 numbers indicate the year, and the 3rd indicates the month. So that means March 1988. Also you can purchase a brand new Speedy 40 for just over $1,200.00 (including tax) 😁 whatever I didn’t cover please let me know down below👇🏼 I figured I would share my experience after the process, which was awesome! My sales associate Tyler was very easy and pleasant to work with.

I have a large selection of vintage lv monogram pieces that i love and maintain semiannually and extremely grateful that someone agrees that the vintage quality is superb. Though i enjoy seeing the newer pieces, i opted to purchase them in reps due to the current quality lv offers. Also, i just took my vintage alma in to replace the exterior leather and found out the repair costs are based on the current day price of the piece. So if you are considering a repair, this information may be helpful. Just thought I'd share.

I totally agree that the new canvas is nothing like the vintage! I recently purchased a ‘99 Speedy 35 monogram in very good condition with lightly Vachetta. Your bag is beautiful and yes, canvas is fantastic!!! ❤️❤️❤️

They did a really nice job with your repair! I agree the vintage items from the 80's and 90's are excellent quality. To me, the canvas is thicker and much more durable. Really enjoy your videos, they are always informative and interesting. Hope you enjoy your Speedy 40, she is beautiful. Cheers!

Beautiful! The interior parts are perfection. I’m waiting for my vintage chantily pm to be ready...had all her leather replaced and the sticky interior pocket restored. Like you said restored can carry another 30 yrs.

It was expensive $660...she must’ve been sent to France cause she still isn’t back. I was told the cost is so high due to the large amount of vachetta being replaced. Totally worth it in the end though.

LOVE your video. I completely agree with buying vintage and having a piece of history! I just purchased a vintage speedy 40 from 1985, it might be weird but I specifically looked for that year because that’s when I was born. Anyway, mines in really good condition considering but what are your suggestions on cleaning the interior? It’s not a bad smell it’s just a musty storage odor. Also, I don’t have the original dust bag. Do you know if LV will still replace the Vachetta?

That date code translates to March of 1988. It was changed to the split format you used in 1990.

Thanks for your video! I’m in a similar situation found a 1985 speedy 40 in great condition. My only complaint and what I want is the rivets were replaced with generic ones. Any information on this? Should I take it to the store or purchase them off eBay and do themself.

I'm so confused. I called about replacing the leather on my LV Odeon but told them I'm not sure if I have the receipt anymore, however they had it saved in their system. I then asked about bringing a preloved one as well & was told they'll only allow you to replace the vechetta if the customer has the original receipt or if they can find it in their system.

Hey on the date code the 80’s decade reads the first two numbers are the year and the last one or two numbers depending some only have one and some have two numbers to represent the month. For instance, with your date code it is actually the 3rd month of ‘88. Hope I am not offending, just wanted to share some information.
Justin Hoover oh no none taken! Thank you for sharing! I’m always open to learn correctly! Date codes are tough sometimes 😂 now that you say that I remember the previous owner telling me March of ‘88. I have a toiletry case from ‘83 from the same woman.

I put my lock on the zipper pull and grab the lock to do the pulling hardly ever grab the leather :)

Kayla Flowers well honestly my dog is so tiny I could’ve got the 40cm and would’ve been totally fine but I do use it for very trips in general with two other cats and another small dog that’s about 10 pounds. So the size comes in handy. It’s not overly huge

Yes you sure can love!! Just contact the closest store to you for shipping address address and let them know what exactly you’ll be sending, and why. with a detailed note explaining what you’d like including your contact information.
Chile I tell you that I bought a vintage LV, Saumur 35 from a lady that while in France had purchased this bag, I was super excited, , But honeyyy,,, I took my bag to the flagship store,,, Got a complete restoration, hardware, vachetta, strap pad" did not come with one she somehow lost the original. Make a very long 2 year horror story short. The bag came back with black oil marks on one of the flaps, they sewed a string onto the flap...I was charged 60.00 for a used strap pad, it actually intentionally been placed on my bag by the SA, in the store, He was very proud to have given me the, used spotted pad? I ended up having my attorney write their store's director a letter because I was mistreated by the, team manager. They ended up forwarding the letter to their Corporate location attorney, I finally received an email from them director himself inviting me to the store for evaluation. He turned a whole nother color when he saw the poor quality of the work they had done, mind yall I paid 655.00 for the restoration, needless to say,,they could not save the original vintage flap, ,😠 I was forced to replace my France for USA. I prefer the vintage, than the, new. I didn't share their attitude when pick up time came the first time, but if I could have gotten away with a slap in their faces it would have been nice. The two years it took to get my bag back wasn't worth the, money, time nor energy. If I could post pictures yall, and let you see how they did me,,,Mind you now I have a half breed bag,,, part France part USA. And he wouldn't give me a complimentary anything. LV is awful, now saving for Birkin Hermès. 😠
