It’s not the Apple Store… cheap smartphones on the streets of Africa are fuelling the fastest-growing telecoms market in the world. Africans are expected to buy 500 million smartphones in the next five years - and that is expected to fuel a boom in software developed by Africans, for Africans - but also for the world. We went to meet Observers Alain Nteff and Churchill Nanjé in Cameroon.
The Observers program brings you the best amateur images from around the world, all verified by France 24 journalists. To see more reports from our Observers - and to become an Observer yourself! - head to our website: www.observers.france24.com/en.

Churchhill Mambe Nanje is nicknamed " The Bill Gates of Africa" What an innovative and inspirational young man. He created his company Njorku more than 5 years ago, when he was still a teenager.

Is anyone wondering why the francophone dominated government wants to destroy the enterprising nature of Anglophones in Cameroon? They want to stifle young men from these two regions but necessity beckons them to rise up and innovate.

Cameroon was both British and French colonized, a lot of families give their kids western names to go along with their African names. This is very common in colonised Africa.
Much like the Chinese in Hong Kong.
