I have seen some top players at Parkhead Messi, Iniesta etc at their peaks but one performance that blew me away was a Man U friendly during a summer I cannot remember what year I would hazard a guess around 2001 but really not sure. Beckham didn’t leave the the perimeter of the centre circle the majority of the game and was just pinging the ball all over the pitch. Granted it was a friendly but I have never seen such perfect technique in passing specifically from dropping in deep and playing that cross field pass to perfection every single time. It was a joy to watch.

For me Beckham was an underrated talent, one of the cleanest striker of a ball I have ever seen and that comes from a lifelong Liverpool fan of 50 plus years! The enormity of his brand overshadowed the fact he played for top clubs in 5 different countries. What was impressive about him besides the obvious talent was his single minded determination and as he got older the more responsibility placed on him the better he was! Now he owns a football club, that is how to maximise your career!
