- 🌃 London vs. New York City Nightlife - Who Reigns Supreme? 🗽🇬🇧
Get ready for Round Four of the ultimate showdown between two iconic cities - London and New York City! In this thrilling episode, we're diving deep into the electrifying world of nightlife.
🍻 Bars, Breweries, and Pubs Galore 🍺
Both cities boast an incredible array of watering holes, but the availability game is on a different level. New York City takes the lead with its renowned late-night scene. Picture this: the Big Apple's bars keep their doors open until a jaw-dropping 4 am, and the first call at 7 am ensures the party never truly stops. It's no wonder NYC is hailed as the city that never sleeps!
🕚 Early Closes and Historical Curfews 🕚
London, on the other hand, has a different rhythm when it comes to pubs. With a historical nod to World War I, London pubs bid their patrons farewell by around 11 pm. Did you know? This early closure was initially implemented to ensure workers reached factories on time during wartime. But hey, Londoners still know how to have a good time!
🎉 Nightclubs: A Modern Twist 🎉
Nightclubs weren't part of the scene during World War I, and this gives London an edge in the clubbing arena. The party carries on until 3 am in London, with some opting for an early exit to catch the last tube. Meanwhile, New Yorkers can dance their hearts out until a whopping 4 am. It's a battle of the beats!
🏆 The Verdict: NYC Dominates! 🏆
Drumroll, please! It's time to reveal the winner of this exhilarating nightlife showdown. While both cities brought their A-game, New York City takes the crown in this round, boasting a nightlife that keeps the lights blazing until the wee hours of the morning. The score? A resounding 2-1 in favor of the Big Apple.

London pubs definitely don’t close at 11pm, they shut way later usualy more like 1 but have seen some go even later
Yep
No. Vast majority close at 11. It's the norm
@@Quincycle just go to a spoons lol, that’s all Londoners go to, there’s one every like 200 meters
Yeah he's bullshitting
Yeah, that law was replaced by the Licensing act of 2003 - so only 20 years ago!! Until then the 11pm law was true. It was also that act which transferred licensing from the magistrates to the local council.
Many metro lines in London have what is called “Night Tube”, so you can party till late, witness some weird situations in the tube and still make it home 😅
only piccadily, victoria, central and jubilee lines
And Northern, which is a lot already!
I mean there are still night buses and night trains.
But if you live off of a tube line then that doesn't work. In South London people take other non underground trains and they don't run late
@@_CaptainCookie Night buses exist.
I went out in London at the weekend and it closed at 6am, I know of one that is open 24hours. So they are there if you look 🎉
The decent clubs used to close at 8! Then the nut jobs would go to the after hours!
Pubs are so much better than bars/nightclubs though, imo
Agreed
I need my food
It depends what you are looking for, pubs can be boring.
@@loveislove2359in greece, clubs usually only serve mixed drinks (alcohol and mixer) while pubs (bars) serve cocktails mostly.. and they usually close at 3-4 am
I've never experienced nightlife in London but from my experience nightlife in NYC is litty af and fairly affordable most clubs you get in for free just have to pay for drinks
Correction for you. Plenty of London clubs are all nighters that close at 6am or later. Not so many of these about nowadays though, after covid, or someone getting stabbed causing reviews of their license. Some just decide to sell up to property developers for big cash.
Err I used to come out the nightclub and the sun was out before me. Yes in 90s London.
Yes Turnmills Fabric, the End etc.... not just London either. coming out of the National Centre For Popular Music (after hours in Sheffield) on a Sunday lunchtime, blazing sun, shoppers everywhere & we're gurning & sweating, got to get the 3 hour train back LOL
London night life is amazing
Eleven o'clock closing stopped twenty years ago.
How are Americans between the ages of eighteen (U.K. drinking age.) and twenty one years old ( U.S. drinking age.) going to vote on this one?
I believe the expression is 'slam dunk!' 😅
No idea if Londons better than new York but you've clearly never been out in London.
You can definitely go out after work and stay in a club until work opens at 8am. Not that I've ever made that choice before 😅😅😅 (I never will again anyway)
London has about 60 night bus routes and many 24 hour routes, some of which operate at a 10 minute headway. And the jubilee line, northern line, victoria, Piccadilly and east London line have a 24 hour service on fridays and saturdays. Thameslink runs a 24 hour service between bedford and three bridges. And most national rail lines end at 00:30 so missing the last train home is hardly a thing if your final destination is In london
Clubs/ Bars and pubs aren't the same lol, none comparable
I agree , go with the flow, dont compare.
Many NY raves can last till 10am. 🥴
They can here, Pubs aren't the same as bars and clubs
In the UK a rave is an unlicensed event held under a motorway flyover or in some woods with a sound system & a generator!
The pub closing time law was changed with the licensing act 2003 which came into force in 2005 however the time at which pubs and shops selling alcohol shut is still traditionally 23:00.
Some stores and pubs chose now to stay open until midnight which they now have the legal right to do but to be open between midnight and 06:00 the local authority that issues alcohol licenses has the discretion in order to avoid anti social behaviour.
In Scotland however be aware that, with some exceptions, alcohol is only sold from 10:00 until 22:00 and in Ireland pubs don’t open until after midday on Sundays.
@@user-oy3yo7qe6o what? That is the law, even if Scots keep drinking past that time the law only allows sales until then. 😅
In this measure they really should have taken in scale and choice too. London has far more -double the bars and pubs of NYC, at 4,000 and with 220 (legal) nightclubs, not mentioning the illegal rave scene. At the end of the day the nighttime economy in NYC employs 200,000 and in London 600,000. The draconian last call times were reinstated in London after the pandemic, and only for a short period, most central pubs stay open past midnight. Plus bear in mind the thousands of bars go strong until 2-4am after the pubs shut, and the clubs till sunrise.
London has 24h bars and pubs.
Really this whole summer is a washout in London
Better than being burnt alive in extreme heat!
London wins 100%. You see more people on a night out in London compared to New york.
NO U DONT? where did u go in nyc😭 I’m actually curious
lololol London night life a shocker
Lol you probably went to York
@@sugarcuba4628Londons a sick night out, yanks ain’t got a clue where to go lol
@@samgourlay7515 NY faaaaaar superior - tell me the night out in London?
London has the night tube at weekends. Also, tipping is very unusual in bars clubs and pubs whereas American bar tenders expect to be tipped.
For me London. Greetings from Tricity in Poland
Bucharest vs Chisinau in nighttime
Actually that National law was amended. When there are periods of celebration the Home Secretary has the ability to extend a pubs closing hours. This has been done many times the longest period being the London 2012 Olympics
Not many takers though. The licensing, the staff, the cleaning up... & if someone gets hurt, it's usually very detrimental to their business & the police want them shut. That's what happens if they play the wrong kind of music, attracting the wrong clientele who might turn up to stab or shoot people.
Hang on a minute!!! Have you been to Vauxhall??? Fire club for example is open from Friday until Sunday afternoon - I used to club there non-stop!!!! Also Heaven in Central London has a party on Monday that goes on until 6am called Popcorn (it is usually a gay club, but not on Mondays). There are a few others in Shoreditch, so I think this could be a draw if you know the club scene.
Fire! Is that still going!?
@@Lee_303 yeah, but not the same parties as before. They made a street food market where the smoking area used to be, so it is used during the day for a more tame experience. I think the majority of parties are now straight, but still some gay parties.
We have approximately 46,800 pubs in the UK. Bit more than just hundreds.
The video is about London, not the UK in general
Clubs I’m going to when visiting London close at 5am?
NYC 🎉
Yea reasonable
In Ldn u can start to party friday and carry on through to monday afternoon. Always an after party somewhere!
I like london hope i can go there
Most clubs close at 4/5am in London and most pubs close at 12/1 or even later on a weekend
Pubs In Brixton close from 12am to 3am and clubs are going all night only small town clubs close at 3 clubs down here close from 4-8am
I have never heard of a pub closing at 11 haha way to early unless it’s Sunday haha
They all close at 11 fym
People in Berlin start at 1 am😂
Longer opening times don’t make a city’s nightlife better, it just means potentially rough clubs and pubs are open for longer with more drunks.
Some of London’s trains run until the early hours of the morning. There’s the tube and the night buses. And the famous black cabs.
Pubs can apply for extended opening hours as well as clubs … but not in the middle of residential areas.
Studio 54 was amazing.
Haçienda in Manchester way better.
@@NToneSki
RIP Hacienda😢
It’s studio 338 bruv
@@samgourlay7515 Studio 54 was a labyrinth of rooms.
The 11:00 law changed years ago, now pubs are allowed to stay open as long as they like on Monday to Saturday night
Still majority of pubs close before midnight (easy to verify even by googling the closing times of a few random pubs) firstly because a lot of them are situated in residential areas, and secondly because it's too costly to operate through the night when there are not many visitors anyway.
Some clubs in London are open till 7am, some 11am .
Proper clubs close at 6am. Think your info is a bit commercial 😂
Neither of them, that's how bad accidents happen
I was in the music industry for almost 30 years on both sides of the pond... The difference is the UK don't know how to behave drinking into the early hours... Lots of fights, arguing, destruction of property, vandalism etc.
We would play until 1-2am in the bands then go for meals after... Chinese, Italian, Greek have drinks and eat then head home...but you can't do that in the UK... always idiots that start fights, start throwing food around, trashing places....
North American nightlife is way more civilised..
Ministry of sound in elephant and castle are open to 6am on the weekend and most london pubs last orders are 12:30 out by 01:00, cant speak for NYC but london night life mehhh some places are great but most the time its 6/10 not really a party town
I swear, I was gonna scream bias at ya until you said jk.
😂
Britain is allways great❤😂❤
Yeah but New York is in America... Fuck that
London has tons of clubs that close until and after 4am. And pubs are completely different than bars, London has plenty of bars that close in the morning.
The nightclubs can finish around 6am if they are Fabric, Egg, Etc.
8am for lightbox
We need vids related to Seattle
Miami vs New York city
Certain pubs close at 2/3pm. Clubs are open till 4am and also you aint been to a rave which is a huge london thing. Thats usually active till 6/7am 😂😂
Omg I was going to say, New York win, change his mind
Damn it, that jk hit hard bro 😢. Fair enough though to our brothers and sisters across the pond 👏.
In my country, going home at 1 am or 2 am is for kids😂😂
Well they have to get home for their kids.
How many holes in this video 😅
Where are you getting these facts from... some pubs bars close at 11 but there are so many that stay oprn until very late... also clubs open until 7 next day. There use to be one that never closed all weekend ( not sure if it still exists)
I’m using the average stats. Obviously there are many exceptions.
@@UrbanStories that's not really an average though. If the range is between 11 and 4 am for example and I'm sure more than half are open later than 11.
Edinburgh pubs close about 1AM
In Moscow you can party till 6.00 a.m
Pubs in London don’t all shut at 11pm??? And not all clubs shut at 3am???
Wtf? Who leaves at 3/4 am?
Your information is about twenty years out date..... 😂😂😂
Get with it sweety!
This video is out of date. Pubs and clubs actually stay open till 3/4am. People don't leave the venues early as unlike New York, London has something called the night tube. The night tube runs from 12am to 6am and serves all major lines and stops.
Another fact is that, it's nightlife is very lit and diverse. It's transport links match it's nightlife. So clearly, London is still the hottest city in the world.
Come to Budapest
How tf is this round 4 if at the end it’s only 2-1?
You can watch the previous rounds
I mean this is just factually incorrect. Loads of pubs and bars close past midnight especially at the weekend. Also idk what nightclubs you’re looking at but they close at 5/6/7/8am in some cases
It is very hard to have a relaxing time in London pubs as they are very edgy and potentially violent.
There are a lot of nice and quiet pubs though.
as a londoner i can confirm london does not win
Round 4, then why is the score 2:1
You need to watch the previous rounds
London is better and the girls there are most beautiful
I hate this comparison between these two great cities.
I've lived in both and they are as different as chalk and cheese with their own strengths and weaknesses.
To many people, a city that encourages drinking isn't a great place to be. Next let's have cities with the greatest crack spots.
Saudadi❤❤
There's better cities in the UK for a night out than London. For a capital city it's night life is appalling.
It is now, most of the good clubs sold up.
london is 24 hour.
Spot on: NYC beats London for nightlife hands down . . .
nope. pub and club times changed in the UK in 2005. this information is wrong.
Compare Luzern with portland
I would rather go to a lovely London boozer that suits early than some hipster newyork bar "hidden" behind a fridge that's open to 4
Fact is London doesn’t really have many cool bars accessible and open till then
@@sugarcuba4628 bars arnt cool. Anything that considers itself cool or tries to be fails. But a decent backstreet boozer that has been there for years, well run, good service, good crowd. Perfect
@@bengleiss9416 not even sure london has decent back street boozers... you mean like a pub? with a £7 pint... that kicks you out at 11? On a saturday night? and gives you a plastic if you haven't finished your overpriced pint... no thanks.
@@sugarcuba4628 they are a dying breed sadly and please point me to one where it is £7 a pint, when I see that price it often turns out to be 2/3rds now. 🙄. Cherish those that still stand
@@bengleiss9416 haha depressing thought that
Mecca ❤and medina ❤

yh this is completely byass and a lie
NYC
British Pubs- better, NY Clubs- better, American “beer”- dreadful, London wins again
