- Rare vid clip of Marianne performing with the Irish folk band the Chieftains. What year is this? The Chieftains CD titled Long Black Veil in which this song features was released in 1995 and the studio version is about a min. longer with another verse..
Worth mentioning is that other headline artists collaborate on this great recording, including Mick Jagger (like you never heard him sing before!) doing Long Black Veil. - Hudba
Marianne Faithfull the folk singer
Like she sang in the 60s with the angelic voice God gave her
one of the great vocal performances of an old song.... with so much heart and life experience in her voice and phrasing.
Another great song ,have this on vinyl by the Dubliners ,and once again the wonderful Marianne produces a fantastic version, she is in my opinion, one of the best, even covers of the Stones and Dylan songs are superb. Truly a great singer.
One of my mom's favorites. Rest in peace mom. I miss you so damned much. This is beautiful
I'm so sorry for your loss Heather. Hang on to the precious memories of your mum and keep them safe. I'm glad you like this song.
Carol crazedwitch thank you Carol.
We all miss our mums and dads mine passed in 1996 and 1998 still put flowers on their graves
She lives, and has lived, this song. Thank you for posting.
Such a great Singer, group and the CD is fantastic. Haunting and rough equals beauty.
the song speaks for itself, just awesome.
this is ... the bit we need to continue... good stuffy paddy and marianne
Yup she's still got it yet what a voice
she sure has.

canzone superlativa con una interpretazione fantastica, sul dondolarsi delle note, evocando atmosfere meravigliose, con un complesso che suona interpretando !!!
carlo lamberti
love it.....
Brilliant
Love it, wish the video/sound quality was better but glad to see it at all
What a massive vocal range she has- just compare this with songs in her youth!
thanks a lot for this clip!
Stunning beautiful
she is just great, even in her older years
NAGYON SZERETEM ! Szuper !
@getridofthetonedeaf; listen to the lyrics.....her voice and life are a perfect match.
She brings a certain "je ne sais quoi" quality to the old song, but I don't what it is.
Experience. She is singing about her own life.
Ah Marianne. She’s just great. The musicians aren’t bad either.
The first few lines are from the song "the butcher boy'. I like the version of kirsty maccall most of all.
check out the beginning to the overture by Donizetti to his opera Don Pasquale. Someone is stealing from someone.
#Faithfulls
She nails that MF to the front door.....
If you liked that there a much better version on here by Dolly mcMahon on clarebannerman
Thanks I checked it out and still prefer MF
Jesus that's fucking awful. If you want to hear a stunning version of this song look up Dolly McMahon. Fairplay to the chieftains on this but the singing does a scandalous injustice to a beautiful song.
