#jomezpro #discgolf Why are you still reading this? Get out and play some Disc Golf! - Sport
Didn't even know this sport existed until yesterday. Love it! Am I right in thinking the different disc's act in different ways? Like banking left or right etc?
Yes. There is a lot about discs to learn! Wait til you play it! It's an awesome sport with an amazing community
@@morgandanielmalone I am sure my upstairs neighbour plays this. For the last few months I have regularly been taking in packages for him, which I thought were just small frisbees. But after seeing this sport yesterday, I am sure he plays and is building up his collection. What a strange coincidence that he may well be playing a sport I have only just discovered!
It's a combination of the type of disc and the way you throw it. If you notice, sometimes the guys will throw standing left foot back, right foot forward, reaching back with the right hand and pulling through. That's a back-hand throw, and discs will tend to fly straight for a ways and then fade off to the left.
The other throw they will do is a side-arm throw. For this you stand the opposite way you do for a back-hand - left foot forward right foot back. The reach back is shorter and the arm makes an L shape at the elbow as you swing through. It's a lot like how you'd throw if you were skipping rocks. The side-arm flies straight for a ways and then fades off to the right.
While every disc will follow these two basic flight patterns, the shape of the disc can tweak exactly how it behaves in flight. For example, a disc that is what we call under-stable will tend to drift right at the start if thrown backhand rather than just flying straight, before fading to the left. Generally the fade will be less pronounced than a neutrally stable disc. The disc will do the exact inverse if thrown sidearm - it will drift left for a bit before finishing right. Conversely, a disk that is over-stable will be less likely to go flat. When thrown backhand it will drift left right at the beginning of the throw, and continue on to finish very sharply left. Same but opposite for sidearm, starting right and finishing hard right.
Lastly, the horizontal angle the disc is released at also changes the way it flies through the air. We call this hyzer and anhyzer. Hyzer is when you angle the edge of the disc furthest from your hand toward the ground. This accentuates the disc's natural tendency to move left or right, depending on whether you threw backhand or sidearm, resulting in an extreme turn in flight. An anhyzer is just the opposite - the disc is thrown with the edge furthest from your hand pointing away from the ground. This reduces the disc's natural tendency to move left or right, to the point where a disc will fly away from its natural finish direction for a period of time before.
When you combine throw type (sidearm or backhand), disc shape (overstable, stable, and understable), and throw angle (hyzer, flat, or anhyzer) you end up with an incredible combination of potential flight patterns to get through the obstacles on the course. For example, a sidearm throw (finish right) with an overstable disc (starts right) thrown with anhyzer angle (forced left) makes a big S shape in the air. A backhand throw (finish left) with an understable disc (flips right) thrown anhyzer (forced right) will turn into the big rollers the pros were throwing.
There are hundreds of flight patterns available, and there are degrees between all of them depending on the disc and exactly how you throw them. It's a lot of fun learning them all and figuring out how to make the disc do what you want it to do on the course.
@@jeffwells641 Oh man. Thanks so much for that detailed reply :) I wasn't sure listening to the commentators, if Hyzer was a style of throw, or name of the disc :)
I can't believe some of the throws they need to make through thick forests of trees....it's amazing.
And I'll admit my rookie mistake...when I watched my first video yesterday (awesome when CZcams throws a totally random recommendation at you) I saw that first basket, and thought "getting a disc into the top of that (like a basket ball basket)" must be nearly impossible....oops! :D
@@jeffwells641 That must be one of the most informative replies I've ever seen in CZcams. Big respect!
Väinö Mäkelä!!! Good to see him on Jomez! :D
man - this is a great sport! learnt about this yesterday and already a huge eagle fan!!
Awesome to see comments like this! Welcome to Disc Golf! :)
I ALMOST had to go to bed without watching the final round, and I wouldn't have slept well. Jomez comes through at the last minute!
Thanks jomez for burning the midnight oil to get this coverage out!
Thc oil, yes!
Love the coverage guys! Best part of my day checking the game played the way these guys play it
Jimi McIlvain, the legend of Delaware.
Thank you JoMezPro for putting together the lead card coverage!! I'm glued to the screen when they're available! :)
Love the coverage on this channel!!
great commentary, you always get the feeling these players like each other and are just having fun being there!
Fantastic footage and commentary, @JomezPro. Loving Garret and Matt on the mic, and, man, Crush Boys commentary was fire, too.
Thanks for the coverage!
Ran into Joel at my local grocery store. Awesome dude took a minute to chat! Best of luck at Maple dude
Bell on hole 2: "There's one tree in the middle"
I think there may also be other trees.
Love the coverage! Keep it up
Great commentary team Matt and Garrett! Exciting final round to watch! Thanks so much for posting.
Thanks for watching 👍
It irrationally bothers me that the lumber tags are still attached to the wooden pyramid on 8.
Why? It's so they can return them 😂
Loving GG on the cometary!! My dude!! 🔥💯🔥
DG GOD yeah but he sounds exactly like Paul Ulibarri though, am I right? Like exactly. It’s uncanny
0:30 I feel like Rickys staring into my soul 😅
Kind of nice low-key but informative southern boy commentary from a couple of great players. Jomez production quality awesome as usual. Enjoyed!
Great commentary! Good job fellas!
So happy to see my name on the Slomez Squad :)
You're the best, Jomez!
Thank you for your support!
great job guys on commentary always like to hear how everyone does their own style
Really cool. Have been out of the sport for a while and was really excited to have seen this.
Cool that you added a quick-view of the Follow Flight Fam. First time ever being in a Jomez video. Awesome.
im loving these guys, keep up the good work :)
Y'all tried to keep me up late last night with this but I was able to resist. Time to get paid to watch disc golf! Haha
33:40 That manly FORE!!!! by Eagle... that's reallllll nice
I loved the 18:15 from Joel. "Fore fore fore! Did I just wreck somebody?" 😅
What the heck is going on with the supersonic finger snap by the bystander at 18:50?!?
18:50 It looks like one guy, center screen snaps his fingers on that loud crack...tell me it isn't his fingers.
lol damn
I think the guy just gave a thumbs up. I believe the snap to be Eagle clapping in frustration
Damn that's weird. I mean yeah, someone is clapping off camera or whatever, but that is uncanny.
That's actually really funny
nah man he made that noise by snapping or something xD
Great Coverage !! Jomez in the Lead !!
i really liked the chill commentary👍
Late night/early morning Jomez! Sweet
Premiere "live" stream...
Ooohhhh... i
Sooo cool! Undoubtedly varying ability and quality depending experience & comfort for commentating, but I love commentator variety and getting an intro & feel for the players who come on and commentate.
WE WANT CRUSH BOYS COMMENTARY!
Yeah, these two guys didnt have the "hype" way that crush boys had. Felt like I was watching chess or something:/ Nevertheless still gonna watch because jomezpro!
They sound so tired lol
Yeah. Jomez is still the best, but this commentary had me nodding off a little.
That's funny I just listened to the first 10 words on intro and I was like holy shit
most of them just got through playing Worlds and had to leave immediately to play in this tournament. I'm sure they are all exhausted
Most likely they have just finished their F9 and B9 before this commentary, no wonder they are bit exhausted :D
All disc golfers smoke weed
Thank you!
Bring back the Nomez. I haven't seen them in forever!
Yasss finally ! Waited all day ... and night lol
24:30 Interesting spit out.
I'm surprised we don't see more of those, that go in and out of the bottom of the basket.
That one nearly came back all the way round towards the direction it was thrown.
Thanks to GG and Matt for stepping up to commentate. I missed the Crush boys and was really not wanting to hear that Go Broncos from GG. We all know the AFC West goes through KC!
Great commentary
30:12 “Joel....flicking his Whale 🐳 “ 😂😂😂my gosh I died
Great job
Double G on the mic? Fantastic. He's just so calm and the dude is all heart.
Eagle’s. Forehand. On. 3. 😳
Poses the thought...Stokely or Eagle for world’s longest forehand??? (Oh, and Stokely is Eagle’s age and throwing 2019 plastic...)
Pretty sure Matt and Garrett burned one right before this commentary
Sup mello bird up u blazin G
I hope the algorithm can pick up this video as well. With the recent growth in subscribers the coverage of the USDGC will definitely be picked up by the algorithm.
A 2 A.M. upload? Gooood morning!
Wow, that was good timing!
Godmorning
Iron Hill had the course looking FRESH & CLEAN!
Ricky is too much of a beast. Always a beast. Its incredible.
when he plays like this nobody can touch him
Eagle's Forehand on hole 3 was unreal! If that is really a 760 foot hole he had to have thrown that over 600.
Right? Commentators breezed past that... Might have been the farthest sidearm I've ever seen.
Benefit of working 3rd shift
Loving the vids. Only starting watching this sport recently. It's really awesome. I wonder if there's anywhere in the UK that play it.
Very nice
Great job on the commentary, loving this duo.. more please!
These guys had some lines and are on the comedown
Garrett was outstanding on the mic. Let’s dial him in for more videos.
eagle threw a flick about 600' ??? or is the hole's distance a little miss marked???
i was thinking the same thing.
eagle has the record for longest forehand on tour and fastest release
@@coltengerloff2173 I know this is the farthest looking flick I've seen on camera
Forehand drive by Eagle on 3 was nuts!
Hole three when Eagle tee's off...was that a 600+ foot forehand?
Yay!
Quality
”Me, Ricky… and these two other guys on my card.. all got birdies!”
Shout out to the homie GG!!
Appreciate the effort guys, but this was the first time I ever muted the commentary of a Jomez production.
Never heard if this sport before but am quite intrigued. Would be nice if you could explain a little more about the rules. Aren't there any OB s in this tournament? And where are the women?
Use Google my friend, or look up questions and tutorials on here, or just watch a lot of tournaments, you'll catch on. And they do women as well. Go check it out
28:45 Ricky smiles after the perfect drive.
GG: I'm coming for ya! ... not sure how far, but...
GG and Bell: People's Champs
#jomezpro how far was eagle's forehand on hole 3?
@Zackary Doyle on the plus side of 600 even
Am I crazy or does Joel Freeman look like Steve McQueen?
Where is eagle and simon?
Hungover and laid
If GG says Up and Down one more time.
The forest clapping is so sick
28:45 Look at Rickys face hahaha
Eagles putt on 6 should've been a NO mezz slow mo shot..🤷🏼♂️
16:15 looks like there might be a text encoding or translation problem getting the names from patreon, its most visible in slomez squad names, some characters seem to have been turned into symbols
Hoping Simon can catch up.
Wysocki has made some kind of deal with the tree devil...to miss so many of them.
This is the event you guys were talking about. 5 USDGC qualifiers at the Seth Burton Memorial in Fairmont, WV, 9/14-15.
www.pdga.com/tour/event/38683
600 foot forehand on hole 3 :)
Wtf right? 😀 insane
The Worlds should also be invitation only event, so you would have to earn your spot like you do with the USDGC
It’s always good to hear from all the pros. MB and GG were great. They seemed to blend better than the crush boys. EMcM and SL seemed a bit off as if they were trying to crush the other one with bad jokes and justifying the other into forced agreement.
I’m not one to complain, but having run a camera before, one of the cameramen on this card was zoom happy and followflight happy. Made me dizzy watching holes 1-3. Just food for thought
PDGA needs to come to greater Cincinnati, northern Kentucky area. There are some amazing pro, very scenic courses there. I’d love to see these pros play some of the courses I grew up with and struggled mastering for decades- idlewild, mt airie, banklick to name a few pro courses in the area
The Pro Tour was at Idlewild in July for the Idlewild Open.
Lol did you forget the Idlewild open
Dana Hill totally missed that. Thanks for letting me know, I’ll be watching this all day!
Hole 1: “whatever this disc is he’s got it dialed in”
Throws is into the woods 🤨
This exchange just summed up my entire disc golf experience😂
It’s easy to play but HARD to get good at
This has to be the hardest course I have ever seen. Pretty sure I would be hitting 3-4 trees per hole average
It's fun to watch the players make adjustments for the next round. Anyone else see how Joel putts? Puts all fingers under rim. Super weird lol
Lots of people putt like that
Väinö, Väinö, missä on se Väinö?
9:11 That clap
Ok, i need someone to tell or explain how this works. They made par on first PIn, Why are they getting --11 points and so on? I mean, how do you count this shots?
Metalson The Viking the -11 after hole one is taking into account their previous rounds. This is round three.
"sneaky trees" I think you might be a poet...
What is the longest and straightest driver available right now? Thanks in advance.
It varies per person and skill level!
The commentary’s a bit too monotone for me
Yeah this will not be a repeat twosome
not impressed with these twoi know keeping up a commentary that's interesting isn't easy, but the misuse of common words repeatedly just makes it painful to listen to
This is JomezPro and we Disc Golfers love every tournament video they capture.
I found it relaxing
Mikään ei voita Hiltusen Arttua ja Rauli Savelaa
