Just did the exact same thing. Wish there was more forums about this issue. According to all the “experts” online you are supposed to be able to reset it by turning the engine on for 3 minutes, then off for 60 seconds, and back on for 3 minutes but it doesn’t work. At least not for me. Having to get a scan tool now so I can get it reset/relearn. Wish I would’ve never bothered cleaning the throttle body..lesson learned!

Thanks for the video. I had cleaned my throttle body and put a new throttle sensor. I had to drive it around with high rpm but it got better on its own after half day of driving it in town and freeway. But if you have the money it is worth to buy a scanner. You will need it for sure if you work on your vehicles. X tool d7s was best choice for me.

My mechanic said, you can drive it and it will reset itself after so many cycles. Or come by and he will fix it quick for free, (THE MAN IS SO NICE AND BEEN AROUND OVER 40 YEARS IN HIS BIG SHOP 4.9 google rating he has)

I have. the same problem with my truck now. I did the exact same things you did and now I have to go and have my idle re learned from one mechanic because my scanner isn't good enough.
I tried leaving the battery unplugged all night to see if that would relearn the throttle. Nope!
Have to have the idle relearned! Don't clean the TB yourself unless you have a good scan tool! No way around it.
    Unless you

You can reset your idle without a scanner too. Video is online.

Unfortunately in my situation trans had to come out. Forget proper name but was a part inside transmission on top of it. Luckily was a warranty on transmission.

  • @Dustinlong4896

You can reset by unplugging battery for 30 minutes
