Even though this film was somewhat torpedoed by some people, it was truly influential and emotional for most of the viewers who saw it. Electric Dreams was, in my opinion, the most underrated film at the time. It was a film with fantastic music, charming young artists and a story that touched many, often becoming computer professionals, musicians or artists. A time when future issues were just the next step forward and we were all excited about this new era. The duel between cello and computer has the same fascination for me as the guitar solo from the Eagles' song Hotel California. No wonder you can watch this film over and over again. Thank you to everyone (producers, director, actors, musicians, staff, editors and writers) for this wonderful piece of film.

Electric Dreams needs a stage musical. It would be great. (e.g. Edgar - as he loses it - goes from the small computer screen to a huge screen - or many large screens around the venue).
I saw the movie in Vancouver, Canada in 1984 when I was still a university student. I saw it again in Paris, France in March or April 1985 when I went to France for work. I really enjoyed the movie and have seen it more than 5 times since then on VHS, DVD and streaming video. It is one of my lifetime favourite movies. Good to hear about behind the scenes of the movie.

I've seen the other potential 'leading lady' mentioned in another interview, but I think the choice they went with was a great one. Have loved this film for a very long time. It got me interested in computers -- I was just a teenager when it came out. Great interview.
Virginia Madsen was definitely the right choice and she was really gorgeous in the movie. Lenny von Dohlen was the right choice too. After watching the movie in 1984 ... I wished I were Moles ... oops Miles ... 🙂
Only the lead singer Philip Oakey did with Giorgio Moroder. Giorgio worked on the soundtrack as a composer. But now The Human League as a group performs the song "Together In Electric Dreams".
The unamend young actress was Kelly McGillis? Lenny did drop a mention of meeting her in another interview. Kelly really had a moment in the 80's but she stands 5"10 and Virginia, at 5'5 could utter the line "I wanted to be a great ballerina but my mother said I was too short." Lenny at 6"2 and petite Virginia did have great chemistry - its that tall man /short girlfriend dynamic. It's a thing.
Lenny seemed like a good guy.. Took me a while to recognize him on the Walker Texas Ranger episode "Hall of Fame".. It was one of those annoyances where you know you've seen someone before but it takes a while to make the connection.
