@Darkstorms15 Sámi particularly don't tend to follow reindeers, on the contrary they try their best to ignore them: they consider them as a bad omen from wicked shamans because all of a sudden the reindeers dissapear, and they find themselves lost. Instead they tend to follow their own orientational skills and head towards landmarks of potential abundance such as lakes or forests. True 21st century story, told to me by a sámi himself just over a month ago (:

If the Sami are the indigenous people, where do the rest of the people come from? And how can you tell them apart?

I agree, This is something people need to learn.. I hate it when people claim the Samis to be indigenous to entire Scandinavia.

Yes, the Sami nation really is interesting... We dont have them as much her in Finland as in Norway or Sweden, but we still have them. I think they are very related with Finns (at least their language has similar things)...
But the way my country is treating Sámis is not good and under some heavy debate...

Ancient 1,500-year-old poetry from the British Isles, a time when 'Old Welsh' or Cumbric was the common language of the peoples living in what is now Northern England and Southern/Central Scotland. Cumbric was a form of 'Common Brittonic', the language spoken by ancient Britons, and from which modern Welsh or Cymraeg has evolved. Then the Germanic tribes invaded and Anglish was born. The invader's Language dominated the host country and the indigenous Laguage is now only spoken in the South Of Brition called Welsh a Brythonic speaking people.

How come the Sami look European instead of Asiatic? I've seen old old pictures of Sami People and they're clearly Asiatic people. Did they interbreed with the European??

Oh, come now. "Interbreed". You are not talking about showdogs.
Think about it, for a moment. Vikings, Mongols, Goths, Moors, went conquering and taking slaves and women of the places they went--yet nobody says they were "interbreeding". The Saami are people on the move.

Norse people are the only indigenous people in Scandinavia. Samis came here after we arrived and ruled a small part of land up in the north that did not even belong to any Norse kingdoms at the time, but Scandinavia is linked to us, not the samis. The only part they are native to is Samiland, which still belongs to Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia. They are no indigenous people.
    1. Came here after us.
    2. Ruled a small part of land not even considered to be Scandinavian to core.

Bullshit, Samis are only "native" to the far northern parts of Scandinavia, The Southern and central parts of Scandinavia was settled by the ancestors of todays Swedes and Norwegians earlier, The Oldest findings in Scandinavia have been from the southern parts.. People need to learn this.

  • @godsfavoritegay

So because they've had cruel and gruesome things done to them through the ages, you intend to diminish them even further by saying they have no right to live on the land they've lived on for hundreds of years, land that they know and love more than anybody? Why on Earth would you want to take away all they have? The only thing left that they would possess would be their true integrity. And since you hate them so much and want to be nothing like them, I can now understand why you don't have any.
