Yeah he does. It's specifically stated King Cold was one of the five warriors used for Cell's creation on quite a few occasions. Cell's Ki signature is Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, and Cold's at once.
Absolutely love how Cell has more of a grudge against Tien than he does Gohan.
Gohan, even though he was a kid, gave Cell a climactic fight worthy of a perfect villain.
Tien made Cell look like a complete goddamn idiot.
Makes sense since Frieza has more of a grudge against Goku than he does Trunks.
I mean, it’s because the guy kept spamming KIKOHO in his face.

The way that Cell regrets not killing Tein the most just proves how awesome Tein is and how hard he trained. The Abridged genuinely does him justice over the original.

Dude. Team four star is genius. Notice every little bit about king cold. He’s management yes, but he still has an ANKLE bracelet to keep him in line, I can only imagine that he plans to free the others as soon as he gets his removed and gets them graduated. He’s playing the long run and being smart about it along the way. No wonder he’s had “above average” improvement, he’s playing them. It’s honestly a really good strategy

Not that it matters if he had his ankle bracelet on or not. Unless he somehow got stronger after dying, he, Frieza, and all the others are relatively weak compared to Goku or some of the kais. Or even some of king kais other students.
I am not sure why tfs bothered having them wear bracelets.

In the other world tournament, king cold, Freeza, and cell do have some kind of rapport when trying to kill goku. But I think TFS would use this small interaction for a joke that will defy our expectations. But great plot point.

Well that, and a part of me wonders if he ment that more literally too, considering freeza is in cell, so in a way. Cell is one of king colds children.
Cell is part Cold, and part Frieza. Close enough for Cold considering in canon he was perfectly willing to take on *Trunks* for the role.

Not to mention Cooler, the misfit minions and Turles, and maybe even the Bio Warriors and Kochin.

The other HFILs could hold Cooler, Wheelo, Bio Warriors, Broly, Gero, arguably Bardock, Chilled, Salza, Neizu, Dore, Turles, his minions, and Hatchiyak (in terms of characters already voiced)

Kinda surprised there has never been a joke about Freeza not having anything down there since so far as I know that underwear isn't there to hide anything it's just how their skin is in their suppressed form (As in it is biologically a part of them). The armor though is just for flair and gets destroyed by the burst of power when they switch forms

Wouldn't quite be doing his job if he let it ruin the program, the one with "The Wall" was in line because it was still technically everyone working together, but the trust fall was ruined the moment Frieza decided to not even try.

King Cold being an empire builder, actually trying to form alliances and working within the system until he has enough power is a nice touch. Unlike most of the others who just want to throw their weight around to prove they're the biggest around.

Understandable assessment. If the reform was genuine, it doesn't mean King Cold is going to suddenly become a loving flower child, however. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if his turn around to good was genuine, but because of the whole cunning and ruthless emperor bit, he'd simply using his existing skillset to different ends.

Specifically his " _stupid_ fucking third eye", which, really, Cell does kind of have a bitter point about: I can't recall why Tien has one ever being explained even back in the original _Dragonball_ series. It's just...there even though he's otherwise a normal human.

@@marxist-leninist-protagonist The talking animals (and Pilaf) are a bit weird, but they are all explicitly a different species of "monster" people essentially IIRC. Meanwhile Tien is just...a dude who randomly has a physical third eye despite supposedly being human, which is somehow still weirder than Chaotzu being an albino midget since I think Chaotzu is supposedly human too. I'd laugh if part of the reason Cell is still *so* furious is because not only did he stymied by a lowly human but by the human who might arguably have the literal smallest brain of anyone alive given how huge that "stupid fucking third eye" is. It's less that Tien is "the weirdest" overall and more that he's one of the weirdest *humans* in the series, if not *the* weirdest human.
As for the dinosaurs, I can't explain that either. I wouldn't be surprised if someone just wished them back from extinction because they thought it would be cool though, and then no one wished them into extinction again (if they ever went extinct in this world to begin with). After all, it's not like Shenron would say "no" to that type of wish since it's not asking to resurrect specific people. Shrug.

Can we please take the time to appreciate LittleKuriboh voicing Frieza from the very beginning of abridged he's a national treasure.
It's more than just Frieza. He's also the father of all abridging. If it weren't for him, TFS wouldn't exist, and no other abridged series to date.
And to top it off, he's among the very few abridgers dedicated enough to finish their series, despite all the hardships and the health complications and the stress he's suffered over the years.
He's not just a national treasure.
He's a legend.

Cold is definitely playing the long game, but he knows how to play along. While Freeza is a remorseless tyrant, Cold is proving to be a real calculating boss.
I don't even think he is there for rehabilitation purposes. I think the point of HFIL is to push buttons until anger turns someone into a powerful beast of an ego. Why else would Raditz still be there (save for Dodoria) Out of the lot he is the most pragmatic, humble, and chill.
@@gingerinajacket8519 We are assuming that the ogres are competent, which they are not and Cold is obviously displeased with their performance. But Cold may also just keep people he deems as threats/not useful in the HFILs. Freeza hasn't changed while in HFIL while Cell was quick to adapt and is a proven problem solver. IDK what Cold has in mind (other than the stated goal), but if theres someone so powerful even Cold obeys, I want to know who.

I actually have no idea what his goal is here. He oversees "the other HFILs" (I assume movie villains??) and seems to follow the rules unlike Frieza. I like the idea of him being more calm and collected than Frieza and not throwing tantrums. (Side note, makes me genuinely sad we never got to see much of him in DBZ.)
He sounded genuine towards the end, but also forboding. Idk what further plans TFS possibly has for this series, because he almost seems to imply busting the villains out of Hell to wreck havoc on the universe once more.

I love how characters who as so based in power have to adapt if there is no powers to be had. It really let's their real character shine.
This series let's the villains show who they are, and what they're like if they were forced to be put in a 'normal'

Either Cell follows King Cold's pragmatism of simply pretending to be reformed enough until they can get out or Cell decides that he genuinely wants to reform and is content about it so long as he has his best buddy Raditz and Guru with him
He'd probably be happy to rid of guru, but he certainly wants to keep his best friend radditz
Probably both, he IS smart enough to understand how to be pragmatic for an extended period of time and getting out is his priority, but since even if he gets out he cant revive well he might aswell just adapt to this whole thing
A bit of both, really. Cell's made up of both a lot of monsters and a lot of heroes, and outside of ruthlessly pursuing his goals, his final form was fairly chill in general. He was even okay with being killed by Goku if it meant it'd be a massively climactic ending to his life.
I wouldn't say that he genuinely wants to reform, but that he's simply letting his softer side come out for a while because he's not THAT bothered by having to shelve his petty side if that's what it takes to get out.

- Gave him an ending befitting of the Perfect Lifeform
- Finally gave him a good fight

I really like Devil Artemis's King Cold, the original voice was very good yes but this voice just hits very different. It's endearing enough that you may actually believe he's trying to redeem but then moments hit where there is a deeper meaning that honestly you can't quite tell if he's truly scheming or not.
I was genuinely surprised king cold was a reformed character, also everyone calling him daddy was great

He's as much reformed as post-Super Frieza is, anime-wise. Still villainous, but calmer and methodical about it, rather than throwing his weight around and openly antagonizing people.
Enough modicum of "good" that he begrudgingly respects the Saiyans, does not press his luck, and is more content to play the long game.
Honestly, I personally find Frieza circa Broly is a good example of a villain undergoing character development without changing the fact that he's unrepentantly evil. He's set his sights on more practical goals and forgoes needless puppy kicking.
