    *This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*

    God bless you ! My cordless drill 14.4 V did not charge any more, so I took a look and was happy to see I could open the battery container ( 4 screws only ). One 1.28 V battery inside was nearly dead with only 0.40 V, I chocked it with a 12V ( 16 V in fact ) as you told + repaired one broken connection between two other batteries, and now everything's OK again ! Many thanks and have a nice day ! Jaybee from New Caledonia

    If you're curious, the reason the cell read 0.0 V was because nickel dendrites or filaments have formed inside the cell over time and use, and eventually one or more reached from one terminal of the cell to the other, causing a short. By applying the external voltage from the battery pack to the cell, you essentially burn those filaments like a fuse, and the cell can operate again. No, it's not a permanent fix, but you can try it whenever the cell reaches 0.0V again. Note that if it doesn't read 0.0V, this trick won't do anything. I'd be leery of applying anything over 12V, and certainly only use DC. You always want to be sparing with applying over-voltages, like he said, just a few touches.

    I had a handful of rechargeable AA batteries that I had not used in a while and when I tried to charge them, they would just blink red and had zero charge on them. I was about to toss them out, but I decided to give a quick look to see if there was a way to "revive" them from the dead and I came across your video; I used a 12v AA battery pack I had laying around, loaded up some fresh AA batteries and gave this a try; I was able to save all of them though some of them required about 10 taps or so. Thanks for posting this!

    I found it convenient to use a 3-battery holder (of AAA batteries) often found in LED flashlights, for this purpose. Three batteries snap into the holder, producing about 4V at the holder terminals. Install two 4-inch long wires at the ends of the holder (wire ends can be pushed under the terminals with the help of a knife tip). The resulting device can be used as a dead battery shocker, in a way described in the video.

    And how easy would it be for the charger manufacturer to implement a function that does this automatically a few times when it detects a dead battery to see if it can be rejuvenated?
    Surely it would be a simple feature?

    Thanks for the advice. I watched your video less than half an hour ago & have just saved half a dozen dead NiMH AAs & AAAs. Instead of using your 2 x 1.5V in series setup, I used a single 3.7V 18650 battery and zapped everything back to life. The revived batteries are all marked with a black X so it will be interesting to see whether they develop any problems in the future.

    Hello. Sorry, I'm a little late to post this. Can you please explain why double the voltage/capacity is needed the 'shock' the non-working rechargeable battery back to a usable state? I've seen other demonstrations where they used just one other good battery, touched the positive and negative ends together, and it was rechargeable again.

  • @truedox
    @truedox Před 3 lety +2

    This didn't work for me. I essentially tried the same by lining two good batteries plus the bad battery up end to end, then jumping an unfolded paper clip from the positive end to the negative end. No dice. But what did work was putting my bad battery in a charger similar to that in the video, stacking a good battery on top of it so they are side by side in the same orientation. Then I used a paper clip to connect the two negative battery terminals with the charger's negative terminal. Then I used a second paper clip to connect the two positive battery terminals with the charger's positive terminal. Almost immediately the charger gave a reading. Soon after that I disconnected the paper clips and the charger was charging the previously bad battery on its own.

    the same trick applies to chargers themselves - as long as they "let in" a tiny bit of charge after "denying" your battery each time you insert it. do this several times, sometimes 5 or 6 (lithium ion for whatever reason - like in the case of power tool batteries - will take tens of times, 20, 30 etc). it will eventually take to it.
