Iruno It’s probally why those both languages are my favorites ones. I have been learning french in 1 year by myself and taken a half year of lessons. I also learn a little japanese and french from anime. But, I’m learning 3 new languages at the time, so It will be diffacult to learn real japanese.

I am Chinese and can speak fluent Mandarin and English, and now I am trying to learn Japanese. Do you think being Asian will help me speak Japanese more fluently?

Rem No. However, knowing Mandarin might as well make it harder. I am Asian too. I can say that this doubt is mutual.

Ofc it is easier if u are asian. Im an asian too so i can say it. Asian language frequently have the same vowel. If we do mistakes, it wont be that worse.
And knowing mandarin make u easier to read kanji since kanji use chinese's kanji(please tell me what do u call it with) as mirror of all japanese's kanji.
Its more difficult to pronounce european's languages. Lets say dutch. We dont have some vowels they have.
