The firmware 2.0 has taken the Z8 to the top of the pile of Nikon cameras, just a great update.
In nutshell nikon could make the nikon Z8 ii with that firmware update.

It was extremely helpful, respect. I recently started watching camera errors through the Tornado NKN program, have you tried it?

I'm already thinking strongly about trading in my Z7II and anything else in the house to generate the readies for a Z8. You wouldn't want to buy a used hoover by any chance, would you ? ;-)

🤣 the biggest change for me was the AF performance and now with the Expeed 7 processor the ability to upgrade firmwares as they have just done I think is where Nikon are focusing. I have to say though every camera below the Z8 are fantastic.

Thanks Barry. I'd have ordered one sooner but I do really like the size of the Z7II. Take care.

If the squirrel sanctuary is where I think it is, I've been there a couple of times and it's fantastic. I too have the Z8, and now, like you, I've downloaded the new firmware, I think I too need to try out the auto capture 🙂

So sad to see a Nikon user getting "shots" without working too hard...when Canon and Sony users have been doing this since 2018.... sad. But loving the delight of the Z8's performance.

Yes the bird af especially I used a friends Eos R can’t remember the model and it was great to use! Great to see Nikon implement that now.

But I don't see any Sony & Canon users clicking pictures without even touching the camera and without using any remote or mobile still in 2024, of course which the Z8/9 can do.
Ohh and I also don't see any blackout free 45Mp stacked sensor Canon & Sony at $3600 with unlimited buffer 14 bit RAW.
      So sad.....🥲

@@stripes_in_rawYou must of crawled out from under the rock....since 2018 Canon and since 2015 Sony users have been using "CannonConnect" and "current, ImageEdge" to remotely control the camera from a distance. Recently Nikon users are finding out 8 years later with a clunky "snapbridge." You silly goose. My $3,200 Canon and $2,400 Sony on electronic shutter have ZERO black out; you are a definition of ignoramus. I also use a Nikon Z8, Z7, Z6ii; you make us Nikon users look idiotic.

@@j.kimmer1509 I think you didn't read my comment. I particularly mentioned without any app or mobile or laptop. The Z8/Z9 can take pictures on its own without any app on mobile or anything, autofocus works on its own, tracking works on its own. It's a Autofocus Supported with Subject Detection & Tracking Camera Trap without actually using any camera trap equipments.
      Please read about AutoCapture first.
