Nosewheel steering on separate channel is the way. Dual rate 40% for takeoff/landing, 100% for taxi so you don't lose that sweet turning radius. Lets you trim the nosewheel separate too.
yeah, totally!
I'm watching this video and thinking, "Watch out for the UPS truck anti lawn job sticks, Brian!!" 😅
What a speed demon, she is. Chewing up 7K 6s and spitting out Hypertension 👍
Hey Brian and camera crew! I always follow your educational 😉videos and this one on the FMS Rafale was not exception. I got my own Rafale from the very first batches from HH some years ago and it's an awesome flyer if you are not looking to break any speed records, but want something to do graceful scale aerobatics, high Alpha stunts and wheelie landings. Plus it looks awesome and elegant as most Dassault aircraft. I have been flying it stock (no Reflex available at that time), with 5200 mAh 6S-50C Ovonic batteries, which are on the heavy side, and just switched to 5300 LiHV batteries from SMC which made a difference in terms of duration and more power for the Alphas. A 7000mAh battery may be too much because it makes the model heavier. The SMCs add two ounces compared to the Ovonics but the plane's battery bay has space for moving them back to get to the correct CG (120mm). A higher C or HV battery helps to compensate for the power loss caused by the bifurcated exhaust. Flight times went up from 2.5 min to 5 min. I tested the same batteries on my FMS 80mm BAe Hawk (single exhaust) and times went up from 3 to 7 minutes with enough power for go-arounds or waits for traffic to clear our busy runway. Just wanted to share my experience with this awesome model. Thank you for your videos, keep them rolling!
SMC 4s 2800 LIHV packs wake up the 64mm version. I'm using a telemetery rx with it and when flying 4s 2200mah 50c smart pack voltage sags like a dog with throttle. With 88 flights on the 64mm, I'm saving my Card rewards to get the 80mm one. Love you videos and really love the Rafale.
Glad to see this video because I been considering this one for my next plane.
What about setting your Rudder Expo and Rate to the gear switch? When gear is down have the rudder expo dialed up with a smaller rate for ground handling, and as soon as the gear is up you're back to your regular rudder expo and rate.
Just ordered through your link and the $35 discount is still active. Thanks.
This is a easy plane to fly . Looks great in the air and during low high speed passes . Flies like a Fun Jet . I fly mine with a 6200 Ah 100c high voltage pack . I get 4 minutes flying time .
Any idea when Horizon will be done with their update that is messing up a lot of orders? I've had a problem with three orders now that haven't shipped. One order was ordered a month ago, another three weeks and the last two weeks all haven't shipped.
I'm so sorry that this has plagued you and so many others. This has been a huge PIA for us too...it's been a mess...but their antiquated system will be replaced by a much more modern, and smooth operating system...BUT yes, we can't wait for it to be done!
Great idea on the steering to settle it down. It's the one thing I don't like about it on mine. Also, I am already replacing both rear gear cover doors servos and going to metal geared. Not sure why these striped gears so easily. Love my other FMS planes especially the Pitts(after putting on a Zoar 18 inch prop) it's a great flyer, so is the BAE Hawk. Thanks Brian and Beautiful Camera Crew! Love from St Charles Illinois and GO HAWKS!!
What brand of servo are you using as replacement for the gear doors ? I already had to replace the plastic gears by new ones on one of my gear door servos due to poor durability… I just chose to replace just the servo gears instead of the whole servo because I did not see how to get the new servo properly connected without having to tear the fuselage apart…
@Md2585 I'm using ones that are from a crashed Bae Hawk. They are metal ⚙️. Same size as existing, spliced the wire to the one that are all ready there from the servos that failed. Two sided taped them in place first to set everything up(that way if anything goes wrong it will easily come untaped without wrecking any servos or connection points) then once all is set, take the tape off and gorilla glue servos in place and tuck away wires.
I have the 64mm. I like it for practicing aerobatics and such. Fun little plane. And yes deltas do fly a little different. Not hard to fly just flys different. They are cool planes tho.
Awesome. I don't really care for the color but cool plane little paint air brush can fix. Very cool
Love this plane, but still have my original two 😊
Take off and land with your nose and rudder in low rates with about 20% expo. Especially on tricycle gear /Jets. Love that Rafale but I'm not into High Alfa I think I'd prefer a F-16 instead. But regardless I really enjoyed this video. Factory set up with out gloating and special mixes and all the other crap some of our other Brother pilots like to do. I prefer straight up out of the box 📦 set up. I can tell some of them even fly like they get these planes for free and push the planes to the limits . Keep doing what your doing and keep it real. You are sponsored but you fly like you bought them outvof your own pocket. 👍
Thanks Bill - means a lot!!!
As for the EXPO, I should just CRANK it up on the rudder. I just don't want to have a switch to change since I'll definitely forget to turn it off OR to turn it back on.
Also, the Air Breaks on this plane are cool, but strangely, I find them somewhat useless...do you? I'd rather make the KANARDS move way more and treat the full length aileron as a flapperon - wonder if there would be a way to do that? Might be fun with an AR8360T? But like I said, I don't fly a lot of Delta wing planes, so this one is just kind hard for me to get comfortable with....BUT I was able to fly from the runway!!!
Anyhow, glad you see what we're doing here and understand that I really do treat these planes "like my own"...they ARE, but you know what I mean ;)
@BrianPhillipsRC , LOL you mentioned that you forget to put switches back in there home position. I do that with flaps once in a while. I really need a call out every 30 seconds on what's position my switches are in. I have Ailerons & Elevator Expo and rates on one switch and the rudder on another. All planes set up using same switches. So for you : my advice.... Camera girl has a new job besides 🎥 filming. " remind you to set rudder back to full rates . 😅🤣 . P.S looking forward to your projects getting completed. Thanks for keeping your channel ment for everyone. You know what I mean. 👍
Beautiful plane.
And I thought Pilot Robert liked to Babble! 😃😃
Good second thoughts video Brian! I noticed that same noise on Futura too. Rafale you can get the RCGeek nozzles, removes the howling noise and improves thrust.
We have them on our Horizon Hobby one...ordered as a PNP ;) Chris sent them out for us - they were very cool! I want to fly that one now again.
@@BrianPhillipsRC id say you noticed it more now having one with and one without :D
Hello I have a problem setting my Mirage V2 Freewing .All seems to work perfectly .I set elevons on my DX9 SPEKTRUM BE .I have a SPEKTRUM AR 620 receiver and all the connections are correct .the problem I have is I can set the throw independently for ailerons and elevators .If I set at 35% my ailerons servos my elevators goes also at 35 % so if I try to set the elevators at 85 % I can't because if I do the ailerons go to 85 %.I try also with the dual rates but nothing change same behave. What I'm I doing wrong ? Thank you.
I fly rafale hundred of flights and it is the best delta wing jet for me. Enjoy the landing very much! But it is slow compared to Freewing Gripen. Yet recently I installed the 3D print smaller noozles. manage to get like 20% increased of speed and now able to do vertical climb during the take off!
We added the Thrust Tubes on our FIRST RAFALE, and they seemed to help some, but didn't want to miss-represent things to those buying for the sale ;)
Nice yellow rc plane🎉❤😮
Vivement la prochaine. Vidéo.
The $5.99 fms 'mixing board' SHOULD BE accessible, IMHO! That way those of us who prefer to do our own mixing & setups CAN!
Gotta separate the fuselage to get TO that board.
Agreed. Would like to be able to unplug to replace the landing gear door servos, it kinda suck having to splice servo wires😊
A Big Yellow Pretty Plane & Windy Brian Video... 🤣🤣😁😎
LOL - thanks John!
NIIIIICE 👌🏻
The way it acted on the ground it seemed that one of the main wheels were not turning.
I think it was just me sucking - LOL - I need WAY more expo on the rudder while on the ground, but less in the air...to keep the maneuverability. I just don't want a switch...does this make sense?
Brian, I noticed the coupon code, however I went to the link and there was not any discount offered.
You have to use the COUPON CODE at checkout. It's on www.BrianPhillipsRC.com - and it's for a limited time. We hope you'll check it out. I think it's like $35 or some such thing on the Rafale...but I suck at keeping up with the numbers, so please do check out the details on our web page...it's right there, shouldn't be hard to find.
We might also have it in the video description, but better to know that we keep up with them better on www.BrianPhillipsRC.com - since we're always inundated with loads of updates, and we can only update so many of the 1800+ videos. Sorry about that!
A like for the cats! ❤😅
Wait!!! Do you say there's a special?!!!!
Yep! Check out brianphillipsrc.com for the coupon code! :)
