I personally loved this different design with utility as priority & also I am not a fan of loads of electronics Bluetooth & touch screens etc. I can think of purchasing this EV for local commutes

I think for the use case of Indie, it being an EV makes a lot more sense than being an ICE vehicle.
ICE is not as ev manufacturing... so the reason for less competition in ICE market... compared to ev market...
Sr160 and aerox don't sell well. This won't too even if it comes in petrol
Lots of money needed for investing R&D engine, and other technology budget is the main factor
Wont happen its a pure EV company. How many startups have you seen launching ICE vehicles in India?
This is very practical and usable. I am a bit biased as a proud Ather owner. Nothing beats my Ather but this is a good EV for sure!

Great review Sagar. Eagerly waiting for this to come in the market. This is how an electric scooter should be. Hope they don’t turn out to be another Simple Energy considering the amount of time they are taking to launch this.

I personally hate touch screen and features on bikes and scooters, and river just nailed it by doing it. Really loved how easy it is to change the modes on the go and regen setting up automatically... this is by far most practical ev scooter so far..❤sarge ❤

A feedback about your on cam mic setup, it sounds a bit muffled. Adding a high pass filter to the audio stream should help, or removing some wind muffing. Cheers

Thank you Sarge, been waiting for your review on River Indie since your OLA S1 Pro long term review. This one fits in all the right boxes interms of practicality and comfort. I am good to compromise on tech and touch screen part, dont need it for city riding. Love the shape of clip on handle bars. Finally can think of an EV over ICE provided they price it well too. An ICE version would be grt!! Seems the wheelbase is long, will scrape the bottom on large and sharp speed bumps?
You have a solid 162mm of clearance and preload adjustability. So that's not a problem

Hey Sagar!!! can you please adjust the mic of your Helmet a bit!!! The sound has more bass and is not that audible if watching on TV. And i think you recently changed the mic setting, because i was looking at your Adventure 390 video prior to this, your voice was perfect and was clearly Audible 😃

Speed offers better value
Over all a very good package from River Indie team, they could improve on the ground clearance for semi off road conditions at later stage , but as a city practical scooter it fits all , good scooter for all frames and purposes
This prolly has the most ground clearance than any other ev scooter and also comes with preload adjustability at the back. But yeah it's not designed to go offroad

This is a very practical scooter. Almost looks like a maxi scooter that reminds me of a Kinetic Blazer, but in an electric attire.

When I saw it first time some time back in one of the expos, I was so impressed that, impulsively, almost booked it on their website. But, unless, you ride min 40 to 50 kms a day, it makes not much financial sense to invest that much upfront in an EV and wait for break even, which could take years. Especially, when you already have a mid range 45 to 50K kms run ICE 2W. Also, the EV tech is so changing nowadays and no one is unsure about battery replacement and its cost. Another 4 to 5 years down the line, when the industry matures, best time.

I just wanted to tell you that the audio sounds muffeled when you are riding and talking. I use my headphones to watch your videos as they scream quality in terms of audio and video. Please do something abt the audio when you were speaking from inside the helmet. Your voice was completely muffled and the audio kept making some kinda popping sound throughout. Please bear this factor in mind in your next vid.

Like at 5:28 to 5:31 and from 6:34 to 6:46 that high pitch crackling isn't good and even at moderate volume it crackles, and give an muddled output of your recording where what you're speaking isn't as much understandable as it looks as if you're mumbling,

If there were a 125cc ICE variant of this scooter, it would sell like hot cakes..... I'd be one of the first ones to get one!
As the owner of a Gen 2 450X, I'm clearly attracted to this beauty. It's a donkey in a stable of horses which the EV scooter market and that's a good thing. It looks like it can handle my 6'1", 98 kg frame and looks to have enough range to travel at lease two way from all the towns here in Goa.
So I genuinely cannot wait for the Indie to be launched here and I'll be sure to be one of the first customers. That way my girl can have the 450X as it was clearly built for her frame and not mine lol.
Hope it comes with a center stand being a utility vehicle and all, a feature sorely missed on my 450X.

Hey sarge ....im a college student and looking to buy my very first bike!!! i recently saw your hero Xtreme 160r 4v video and took a test drive and i absolutely fell in love with it but alot of people are asking me to avoid this bike due to low sales and majorly due low mileage ( which i explained will be easily 40-45 after a few services but they cant seem to understand it ) i tried looking for another vehicles but i really just fell in love with Xtreme and cant seem to like other bikes.... what should i do sarge? Should i go for it .... will it really give me low mileage? Im sorry to bother you with such questions....but your simple answer will really help me to make the right decision....

From a practical aspect the range needs to be drastically improved.

The lack of tech, the bulkier frame, and the insane amount of storage plus additional utility available points to one thing -- River aren't particularly looking to compete with the likes of Ather or Ola, which are preferred by urban working professionals. Instead, River is looking at capturing the every day workman population that use their vehicles not just for commute but to lug tons of luggage around the city. It's say to say that the bike is made in India (tier-1), but for Bharat (tier 1, 2,3, and beyond).
For this to be a viable option in tier 2 cities it needs to come good on the range

1.25 lakh or more is a bit steep for the asking price when rivals are giving more features and equal range. also this is a new brand with barely any service network
I doubt if they will be able to sell at this price as this was before the fame 2 revision, now as the subsidy has been reduced have to see during final delivery. I really like this one.

Seems to be a good utitilitarian EV having great build quality with dual 43 mm front forks unlike OLA's single shock which is shocking . This design may nor appeal to many . Nonetheless it can garner good market share if it's priced competitively with good battery life and reliable Sales and service outlets

This has to be a petrol engine 13 ltr tank, 250-300cc, 25-28 bhp, dual channel, petal discs though - looks better...not to forget.back rest. Why electric? when we have machines.
Hope they succeed with this product, otherwise market will only go towards shitty faux-sporty olas

The fear of battery running out is the biggest negative when it comes to ev's. Not for me yet. Maybe a hydrogen powered one will solve everything. 🤞
