I used to think they doubled Coko's vocals in the verses because her tone is so clear that it's uncanny. And then I saw a video of an obviously live performance and it had the same amazing tone. One of the most distinctive voices in R&B still to this day. I will always know that voice.

Ron Shady I'm on that same boat as well. I was born in the 93 and these songs brings me back memories as an child. I wish i could've lived the 90s as an early teen or old child at least. I remember glimpses and even tho it was kinda bad violence wise, ppl seemed much happier and enjoyed life more. Now a days it feels as ppl are very shallow and don't feel happy unless the next person doesn't approve.

As an 80s baby... I'll tell you... being alive during the 90s... you realize it was literally the last analog/organic decade. You would experience a lot of things previous decades had, but the 90s in it's own way brought the best out of it. All we have are the memories from it... and yeah... you can get the vibe from it through the music. Despite how amazing it was, I don't think I could handle living through it again, though. So much went right. So much went wrong and continued to go wrong, especially with black music (which IMO no longer exists).
People who were living through it got a great experience, but I think every past decade is going to come off better than current decades if you look at what turned into classics back then. The 80s felt dark but there's amazing stuff there. I'd say it must've been a great time to be alive during the 70s, but there weren't many video games so I'm gonna have to say there was seemingly no better time to be born than in the 80s.
Not that i'm bashin, but a difference I noticed. In the 90s people would find talented kids and make them look good. Whereas now they find people who look good, and make them talented, if that makes sense. I am of course speaking of the majority of pop singers in both eras, there are obviously exceptions to this.

ocky88 Well I'd like to give a second opinion lol. I think the writer , Brian Morgan, said he wanted the song to sound upbeat by using church melodies and a hip hop beat. He called it "Chip-Hop". So she's not wrong in saying that it sounds more harmonious and uplifting than some songs today. You can listen to this around parents and not feel awkward. You can play this for young kids and not catch more adult themes
Also I think the song is about a guy talking to girl even though he has a girlfriend. It seems like the guy is into the girl even though he's in a relationship. While the girl is confused on what to do about dating a guy with girlfriend.

I grew up with 80's music, which was my favorite decade of music. I didn't care nearly as much for the 90's music, but songs like this in the 90's are just as good if not better than a lot of the 80's hits. Phenomenal talent, pure and simple.
