- Today I am moving a little outside the box talking about the Thermacell MR450 Mosquito Repeller device that I used on my recent trip to Canada.

In New Brunswick there are two main types, aedes aegypti, and anopheles, and depending on the season you can also get a black fly bite. While most of them will not malaria, zika virus, yellow fever, West nile virus is of known incidence, so I am taking my thermacell. Thermacell mosquito repellent out of the thermacell mr450 repeller doesnt just work in the woods, it can be among the best remedies for mosquito free home. How does thermacell work ? It uses a butane cartridge to heat a repellent pad, creating a cloud. Because it hits the mosquitoe (animal) before it gets to you in my opinion it is the best mosquito repellant.

Good video! I did not know you can drink through the bug net. Why is the need for a 2032 battery?
You finally took the headnet off, but that's where you ended the test video. You should have shown us another ten minutes with only the Thermocell for protection. I'm not convinced this thing is totally effective.

I wish my thermacell units would work as good as yours! I have 2 MR450 and tried them many times but they do not do as good as yours, actually there is no difference on or off. I used a good bug spray with deet and that works well.

Can it be used inside the tent or is it for external use only?
I wouldn’t use it in the tent it can be fairly irritating to any mucosa membrane for extended exposure. Buy a better tent
What does the zone light do?
I'm pretty sure it's just a temperature sensor, indicating that the hot plate is at optimum temperature
Does the Zone Check light tell you if the butane tank runs out? I currently have the MR300 but it bugs me I can't tell if the tank runs out. I'm thinking about returning it and get the MR450. Also how long does the battery last?
As far as I can tell, all the light does is indicate if the plate is hot enough.
I've been looking for information on what exactly this 'zonecheck' feature does, since it doesn't say anywhere on the the Thermacell website, and this video actually provides more information than anywhere else. It seems it's just a temperature sensor connected to a light.
So I suppose it indirectly will tell you when the fuel tank is empty since it will stop burning and the plate will cool down. But you can also just check the flame indicator hole, and you can see how full the tank is by looking through the back of the device, there is a slot specifically for checking the butane level. This is true of the older MR300 model as well.
The main advantage and only reason I would consider the MR450 is that apparently the grill was redesigned to allow better airflow in the vertical position, so that this works better when clipped to your body or otherwise vertical. The older model works best when laid horizontally (but I'm guessing that's probably true of the MR450 also).
What good in the indicator light?
I found no value in it, I removed the battery.
The only thing I could think is powering it up before going out side.

Who really knows for sure because mosquito's are different all over like some do not bite that much and some will carry you away.
