One lowers behind and remains collected throughout the test, the other is tense and stiff. Yet their scores where only points apart! No wonder so many people are confused! So, yes your horse will improve in time and get deeper under itself as the back strengthens.
Thank you for these videos. Your work complements and parallels that of my two teachers whose work is deeply influenced by von Neindorff. The examples and exercises you show are giving me insight into what I need to do with my horse.
What a great video! Thank you so much for posting, I have never really been able to see when the hind end is engaged before. I love the bicycle description.
This has lead to much confusion on the part of others who try to imitate the riding styles of many of the top riders who are not working their horses correctly but getting by on the natural talent of the animals that they have to work with. I suggest that you go on youtube and watch the horses that came in first and second at the last Olympics, see if you can tell which one is correct and which one is hollow and tense and forced against the bridle.
i love that description of the bicycling hocks. is that something that develops in a horse (any horse) as you train and build muscle over the back or is that more a conformation thing?
The better the horse's conformation the more they will move correctly in the hock and can fool people who don't look closer at what the back is doing. Many of the so called, Million Dollar, horses move in this way and are not correct through their backs or are tense.
