- In this video we will be making a really well designed smartphone projector that stands head and shoulders above most others out there! It really is quite splendid.

You're one of my favourite channels on CZcams! Every video is so fascinating to watch

5 years went by. Still amazed by the sheer perspicacity of this man and the things he makes are absolutely splendid.

Does this projector projects out the screen to the wall or we have to look into it..
@@RisingTideOG it projects the image out onto the wall
My mom says I have too much screen time after I have my online classes. Well, this solves the problem as I am not looking at a screen, but at the wall.
I know it's meant to be a joke but you might have a point
After all you would be staring at a wall reflecting light instead of the computer and so it would be the same at staring at a wall with the lights on
Unless I'm totally wrong and dont understand it at all which is likely
Genius 🤣🤣🤣🤣
now you have too much wall time.
damn matt's voice makes everything he says important.
I disagree. It's the content.
@@grizzlyaddams3606 different point.
I agree... and makes me wanna run out and do it cuz he SAYS SO HAHA Man that accent is the freakin 💣🔥🎈
This channel is like art attack for adults
Lisa Cochrane he looks like the guy from art attack!!! I miss that mini show inbetween the cartoons
My thoughts exactly! He reminds me off Neill as well!
For kids too. It's awesome!!
Adults would buy a projector
Hahahahahah
I have a feeling I’m not your typical viewer (71 year-old female), but I love this video. I want to make this to see if it works for projecting sewing patterns. Thanks for posting it.
You are the best instructional narrator I have ever heard...and I watch a LOT of DIY videos. Usually there's always some gray area between watching what the person is doing and the rationale. This verbal detail makes a world of difference. A blind person could understand this project, and that's exactly what I like. Thank you!
I want a projector to trace an image on my wall and paint it in. This would work! Thanks, and much cheaper than buying one for a one time use.
Did you paint it? This might be an interesting art
How is this done, please?
it will work as long as the image is projected
How'd it turn out?
Dude that's an amazing idea :o
It's literally been up for 20 seconds and there's 22 likes! WOW!!! keep it going guys!
great idea!! love it
DIY Perks I
Meh; I'll pass. I don't believe in begging for that kind of stuff.
sir, I make like that too but it doesn't show up any image, what happens?
DIY Perks notificate squsd
Brilliant! This design leaves room to be highly customizable for just about any decor. Thank you for keeping the directions and explanation of each step simple. It’s greatly appreciated. I’ll be making this today to use as a means to project my sketches from the phone onto canvas.
I’m a bit late but I want to make this, did it turn out ok?
Look at that badass using a dining room table like he's never going to scratch it! You magnificent bastard!
Actually that's not a table it's a desktop computer literally... Search for that video
@@MuhammadZeeshan-rb5pj this projector video was made 3 years ago and the desktop computer was probably recently built. I bet it's just a normal table
I'm new here and that desktop PC video was one of the first video I watched.... Thanks anyway
Thanks for sharing your experiments! I crafted one of these few years ago but I didn't think about the mirror option. Also, as a teacher I find this a very interesting project to do with children, so they can learn few things about optics while they have fun creating a very useful tool.
To save some hassle when scoring card for folding, use a knitting needle or awl instead of a blade. It doesn't break the paper layers, giving a more durable crease, and you don't have to worry about maintaining a constant pressure. If you can find a watchmaker's link pusher, they're great for it. It gives the thin lines of a small gauge knitting needle, and comes with a easily gripped wooden handle.
This Channel and the creator's content is the best example of quality over quantity as i have never been disappointed by a video uploaded! keep up the great work :)
Itz iStrikz Check out Clickspring too, I bet you will like it :)
Itz iStrikz Don't you mean quantity ?
Sgt. Bucking Fixed :)
its a shame he NEVER REPLIES and insist to infect all the clips with music while he talks

I had made a shoebox projector as a child and was so excited about it, now I can try the mobile phone projector as well !!
Shoebox projector working?
@@viralvideoshot3098 dont have it anymore!
I love how enthusiastic he is in all his videos
Your videos and the language are so clean and friendly, i can make a 2year old to sit along to watch and learn. Thank you so much and keep it going.
CupofCoffee. That's what happens when you listen to someone who speaks English properly...you realise just how bad americans speak it (".)
@@gp85hkg I think she means the content of the words, not the way they are spoken. Being English has nothing to do with this. Anyone can have a soothing voice and not use fowl langauge.
@@gp85hkg American English, when spoken properly, is clean and easy to understand. British English, when spoken literally any other way than the Queen speaks it - is total garbage. It doesn't matter whether it's american or british - it can sound great or it can sound crap.
I'm never gonna make this but still gonna watch

Thank you so much! I’ve been looking for a good tutorial that makes a pretty good diy projector. I love stars and I wanted to project them in my room because they really calm me down and help me fall asleep (I have sleeping problems.) So thank you so much
is the phne light enouf ?
A perfect explanation of a project I was hoping to create for a friend's birthday. We will be staying in a rustic cabin so I love the idea that the projector is vintage style! Thanks!!
I made this project and it worked pretty well for what it was. love it and thank you. if I could add a picture I would show you.
Markean Johnson what is the diameter of the lens, i need a little.help
Alex Bulgaru it didn't come out as clear as yours but I believe it's because I forgot to cut the handle off of the magnifying glass. Or, I just need to get a better glass. I'm not sure of the diameter of the glass though. it's clear enough for me but it might annoy somebody else lol.
Alex Bulgaru it looks about the size you used in your video.

that mirror is perfect solution. thanks dude.
Finally someone that notices the backwards text on these shoe box projectors. smh

This was the first video of yours that I have seen. Thank you for such a great fun project. It will give my Daughter and I some fun things to create! Matt you also seem like a likable guy! Thanx again for your time and creativity.
I love how attractive all your projects are!
I had forgotten subscribing good DIY channels until you made me remember. Thank you.
Thank you so much!!! and for taking the time to explain everything too! Going to do this with my younger brother ~^^
I love this diy I've been thinking of buying a projector for around three months now, and I'm happy I saw your video! Thank you so much

This is the coolest diy idea I've seen in a long time
This guy has the cleanest setups and desks for crafting.
Ooh... Projector.
I thought it said protector and I was like... Yeah. If you put your phone in a box that big I'm sure it's the ultimate protector.
Anon Mason hahahaaa
😅
Unless you place several large rocks within the box along with your phone and shake the box vigorously.
🤣😘
mm hmm...
Congratulations on bringing camera obscura back!
I do really like your production quality. Great work overall!
The moment he started talking I focused so much than any other video I have listend to about this and I like how he knew all his facts. He so deserves all this views and likes
This channel has rekindled my boyhood toy-building skills. I'm inspired to set up a small home-based workshop to try out these DIY perks.
I have looked at quite a few of these tutorials on the internet and this is by far the best detailed and well rehearsed I have come across. It is also so obvious the absence of the ermms, aahhs, eehhhs and other grunting noises most ill prepared naraters make. Well done, it would be a pleasure to watch more of your tutorials. You would be an asset to any news room or voice over jobs. Give yourself a pat on the back. Thank You , Martin Brandt.
You have taken this channel so far, well done!!
That is brilliant! Definitely something I'd love to make!!
Matt your voice is amazing to listen, I found your channel 2 days before now I am addicted on it 😍 thank you man
i never done any of your DIY projects but i enjoyed watching them all
because of information you give and the smooth style of the video and after all your great finishing . Keep it up bro
This is amazing thank you for sharing with the rest of us
It's looking so satisfying

Instructions unclear. I burned a hole in the moon.
Ha ha, I burned my special laser mirror lens too.
How did you burn it?
I dont get it
Lmao! Yall are cracking me up! Super cool EASY project, and sharp witted subscribers..
Btw, mooning ppl is pretty much strictly American, till now and lets hope everyone forgets.. It's never a pretty site..can scar a person..
@@alanacartes3382 that's why we Americans bleach our sphincters after puberty.
If you want an optimized version (v2.0) you can make the front with the detachable lens, that way you just fit the larger / smaller lens depending on what you want to watch. Remove a small rectangle with a lens type and put other rectangle with other lens.
this will be the birthday gift for my daughter in the up coming birthday. Thank you!!!!
I'm glad this project is simple enough I can do it with my 9 year old daughter!
I love it. It looks like something from the 1960s!
You are my hero. Seriously, this is brilliant.
Sensational video. The retro design is so attractive.
It's a great project Matt, nice retro project. Thumbs up from me.
oh yeah, smartphone *real* retro smh..
I don’t know why CZcams showed this to me 2 years after the publishing but I’m loving it :)
You are the Blue Peter presenter we never had!, brilliant
I’m trying this out just to do something new for 2022 and I might also use this unit for power outages, holidays, and ambiance I just haven’t got anything yet for the project but a nice small cardboard box thanks for the idea

woooow thats incredible and amazing to do, can't wait to start watching with that smart
I was about to buy a new TV but, nvm I'm just gonna do this instead... LOL
But, now you have to download a TV app onto your smartphone. Do you have enough memory on your phone to do that? Not to even speak about the dim image on the wall made by this projector, lol

When I built mine, I used a fresnel full-page magnifier as my lens. It was brighter, but the image quality suffered. Trade-offs though.
I must tell you, I immensely enjoy the pace and depth you make your videos with. It's not sped-up with shrill techno music, and you explain and show things concisely and to the point. Quality presentation 👌. Keep making your videos like this.
So was it worth it to build? Is it atleast better than watching from your phone screen?
Try moving the phone/tablet closer to the magnifying glass or farther from the magnifying glass. It acts as a focus. You will quickly learn there’s a very small SPECIFIC location ur phone needs to sit for clear images. The distance from phone to magnifying glass plays a huge key roll on how clear your image will be. Same goes for the projector to the wall. Distance for both projector to wall and phone to magnifying glass are key for clear image.. play around with distance for both and you WILL find the perfect spot
You are an amazing teacher! Thank you so much for all your videos. Your videos are indeed treasures! ❤️🇵🇬🙏
Definitely going to make this one
"projected image of reality" :D
This is actually one DIY project that I could and probably would try to make 😂 One question though... what’s stopping the bellows from collapsing under the weight of the phone?
The sticks are glued to the part where the phone is at so that it holds up
@@That_YO_guy_1200 At the begining of the video it was shows as glued, but at the end you could see to focus you adjust it up or down. One end is moveable through the staws so i have the same doubt. 🙂
I love this guy ..Seems really nice .Thank you Matt
I am going to build one now as a christmas present. Thanks so much for this great video!

You should include a list of materials required in the description box.
kalle kanin what type of lens
yuvraj Badapanda 300 mm for his. or 200 mm lens for brighter image (but smaller projection)
lol there's about like 3 materials
@kalle kanin There are also dowels, straws, cardboard. And there are no measurements, so...IKEA has better instructions.
@@gledger1963 A smart phone is around 6 inches or so, quite easy to figure out if you use that as a guide

Wait ur song wat u use is Flight pilot Simulator's Song
Pretty cool project. Like the bellows design.
That is very amazing. Just what I was wondering about a month or so ago.
The image quality is pre historic, although the presentation was great as always.
Neon City the image quality is quite good irl. Its just incompatible with his camera settings thus it seems bad in the video.
I tried it and I do not think you are supposed to use it as far as a regular projector. I found that placing it within 3~4 meters from a wall provides really good quality, almost as good as a cheap projector. Still quite good considering this is just a DIY project. The one I made stands on a table instead of a wall. I connected it with some bluetooth speaker and watching movies in my room has never been better.
Thanks for your insight. Do you think it's possible to get a picture of it? Also, how big would you say the image is when you place it at the best distance from the wall?
now, what if you were to make this out of wood or metal, and attach a super bright display on the top, then plug in a chrome cast to it? Maybe take apart a screen to have just the LCD by it self with no backlight, then put one of those super bright LED's that you featured on your channel to serve as the backlight. That would be cool.
Already many projects like this, people have been doing so for decades.
Extraordinary !
I need to make this for my art effort to project a larger image on canvas or paper !
i am gonna use your perks for my own projecter, cant wait!!!
My dear,
*phew*
You do really sound like Loki...
Wouldnt it be possible to use 4 collapsible metal antennae from old radios instead of dowels? That way when you lower he bellows, there arent sticks poking out of the bottom, and the whole thing could be collapsed down to just the size of the box, making it much more portable.
You just described the prototype ;)
Will it work as the phones have some weight and probably it will collapse all the uplifted antennas.
Too cool. Thanks for the video ✌🏽️
Fabulous video!
Got a question. Does this really work and is the image good enough for a distance thats about like 2m?
I think about trying it🤔
Also, enjoying your videos very much🤗❤
