You need a Camp Dutch oven. You can cook 10x more dishes, and it is a multi use tool. From baking breads, cakes, and pies to roasting meats, deep frying, and using the lid as a griddle.
Just recently got a truck camper with an outdoor shower and was wondering if my well loved nemo shower was going to be relegated to the garage. Had not even thought of the practicality of using creek/lake water for showers and dishes!! Thanks so much, you saved me a "duh" moment for sure!
Nice suggestions Mandy. I like the cookware from Sea to Summit. You may want to look at Dutch Ovens with the raised outer lids. They are designed to hold the embers on top to give you a convection oven. Better for baking and the ash won't drop into the food like the rounded lids. Stay safe and well.
@@MandyLea I wish it was that easy to replace the lids. I could not find any. I had the same DO that you have. Sold them and bought the correct Dutch Ovens and never looked back. Btw, your breads looks great!
I have a collapsible bucket, and dish racks, and love them. Cast iron pans are the way to go for cooking on camp fire, or on your stove. I use the chains to clean my cast iron pans with success!
@@MandyLea I have seen them in se real sizes, you can drop the chain Male in a narrow glass jar with soapy water ,shake and swirl and pour out, wala!its clean in the bottle!
I love my collapsible dish rack! To rinse dishes we use a sprayer from home depot that you would use to spray your lawn for weeds ( we only put water in ours obviously) but the pressure isn't really great, so I'm going to check out the solar shower.
Great set up! I have an extensive glamping bar, including collapsible martini glasses... and I have the exact same blue collapsible bucket that I use as my dump bucket behind the bar. I put a cheap plastic colander over it to catch the garnishes when I dump a drink. Also behind the bar I have 3 collapsible square containers to wash rinse and sanitize my glamping plastic glassware. I have a brush stand to wash (you've seen your bartender use one, and yes there are camping ones available!), then the second collapsible container is hot water to rinse, and the third one has bar glassware sanitizer. The glasses then go to a collapsible dish rack. I highly recommend the Stanley Happy Hour Cocktail Shaker set. I have the 2 glass and the 4 glass set. They're hard to find, but I think you guys would appreciate that it's stackable, well made, and has the perfect size glasses for bourbon! Glad you're both safe and well in these crazy times!
Actually looking for a camper to renovate for a mobile bartending service... but that will probably happen post-pandemic since my day job title is epidemiologist... cheers!
#27 The orderless dish cloths are awesome. I bought them and the washcloth after you featured them first time. Still using the same dish cloth, after more than 6 months. There are several of these items I'm adding to my wish list. Great job as always.
Another excellent video! Even though I’m an avid gear head who is interested in all the improvements which make tiny camper camping easier and more efficient, I always learn something new with your videos. One of my favorite pots is a small pressure cooker which really cuts down on fuel and cooking time. Thank you for more engaging content.
I ordered the Brutech French Press (for home, not camping) and are really enjoying the coffee. I’ve been wanting to replace our Keurig that uses too much packaging, so when it finally started failing, we took your recommendation. I’m going to order a smaller version for my camper too. Thanks for the info!
Some great ideas for sure I especially want the Omnia oven and the Table! I have lots of cast iron (😁👌)! But frankly I want it ALL! Thanks for sharing!
I already knew about the Omnia Baker which is an awesome kitchen device but this video was so chock full of useful and innovative kitchen stuff ! You really outdid yourself on this video! Great job Mandy and Kendrick !
I love your videos, so many others are extreme camping or in those giant rv's that has all of the comforts of a normal house lol. This just perfect middle ground, like normal camping with kids.
@@MandyLea Same here, I prefer it to be small enough to easy to drive/pull yet have made up bed, tiny kitchen and a toilet and a seating area. Then I am happy, I don't need something size of an appartment. I want to be able to go places that the monster rv's can't. And also I love in Iceland and the country roads here are really the best for driving around in those. Let alone the backroads haha.
Dutch ovens are good but camp ovens are better for camping more versatile, the flat lid with the lip for coals doubles as a griddle. 10 inch and 12 inch are pretty standard.
Love this informative video - thanks! Questions: 1) Do you find the need for a wind screen when using the jet boil stoves? 2) How do you deal with a dirty sooty grill and the underside of pots and pans after cooking over a fire? (One method for cleaning super dirty BBQ grills is to wrap the grill in aluminum foil and sit it in water with a pod of dish soap for 30 min. Then it wipes clean super easily. However, soot is a different scenario...). Thanks :)

Overkill for me but anything goes when car camping....Example.....Why a frying pan with a grill pattern when you have a grill ? I cook my meals in either a Dutch Oven or a # 10 cast iron skillet when canoeing. Backpacking , a Evernew Appalachian titanium set and a titanium grill ( Vargo folding grill ) and a small skillet ( titanium and non stick )
for a 12 inch Lodge oven a rule of thumb is 8 briquets on the bottom and 14 to 16 briquets on top. this will have a temp of around 350 to 400f. Also remember to rotate the oven a 1/4 or 1/3 turn while cooking to address any hot spots. The lid can be rotated also but normally not as often as the pot itself.
I use all melamine dishes, mugs, etc at home as well. 12 years, no more broken dishes. Great coverage of your tools!

Cook over coals, not a fire. Learn the difference. If your cookware is sooty, you're not doing it right. Of course, some woods are just SOOTY.
Thanks for the kitchen and cooking gear review. Time to stick up our new (to us) trailer. See you next week!

Ever try Mount Hagen instant coffee? Best I've ever found.
