- [ New 3D Audio ] ❄️Number one christmas destination in Italy ! The "Ghibinet" festival is an ancient tradition of Livigno and Valtellina, a children’s habit that also appeals to adults, born to remember the arrival of the Three Kings with the gifts to Child Jesus.
The word Ghibinet could derive from the German "Gaben-nacht", which literally means "night of the gifts", or from the German "Gib mir etwas", which means, instead, "Give me something", a translation that is closer to the true meaning of this festivity that continues to entertain children and not only.
LOCAL HABITS AND ANCIENT TRADITIONS OF LIVIGNO
According to tradition, on Epiphany day in Livigno people say goodbye to each other by pronouncing the "magic formula" and the children go through the village streets with sledges, looking for sweets and little presents.
The old habit was to leave very early in the morning knocking on the last houses of the town to the sound of "Bondì Ghibinet". Last year, due to anti-Covid restrictions, this holiday was celebrated more with the family. On horse-drawn sleighs, volunteers dressed in period costumes brought gifts directly to the children on the street in front of their houses.
But this year, on January 6, anyone who doesn't immediately answer "Bondì Ghibinet" to the greeting will have to pay a pledge by offering a small gift. So if you are in Livigno on the Epiphany, remember that the password is "Bondì Ghibinet"!

Как все изменилось в Ливинье, очень много настроили готелей в 2000х было более пусто. Это место свободная экономическая без налоговая зона все было дешевле намного чем в остальной Италии люди приезжали за спиртным сахаром шоколадом за покупками. Сегодня все еще шикарней. Я жила год в Бормио. Чуть ниже Ливинье.

Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France are very lookalike in their Alpine regions. The main difference is that if you avoid the most famous italian resort towns, (Cortina, Courmayeur, Livigno) your stay Italy will be cheaper than in Switzerland. I suggest you to check the Val D'Ossola, it's like Switzerland but at a third of the price for everything

Noooo.... Livigno is the Most Beautiful (and real, genuine) Alpine Village in Europe, not only in italy.
Doesn't hold a candle to any nice Swiss village though.
Or Japanese ones.
never went to Japan but even though I love Switzerland, even there I have seen worse villages than Livigno. We can start from the fact that in most of Switzerland (with the exception of the big cities) after 6/7pm you don't see anyone on the street, the villages seem dead. Look at how much life there is on the streets of Livigno. In Switzerland, finding a decent restaurant is a feat, finding a good one is a miracle, finding one good and at honest prices is impossible. To give you an example, I was in Lauterbrunnen last week and a plate of pasta starts at 27 francs (what they put on the pasta seemed like the tin I give to my cat), two slices of pork (about 150g of meat) with chips for 50 francs! It's bad to say, but they don't know how to cook. In my hotel they only did fondue and pizza (they said it was pizza). Another aspect is the climate, skiing with the sun is different than skiing in the mist and in Italy there is more sun.
in my opinion the best in Europe is South Tyrol, especially Val Gardena, almost as expensive as Switzerland, more well-kept and cleaner than Switzerland, and their cuisine combined with Italian cuisine is to die for.
