Porkins no cedar point was!!!!!! Cedar point is far more superior than its brother/sister/cousin parks!!!!!!! Ugh fan boy rage!!!! Ha just kidding I loved knotts as a kid and I still love it!!! That was like the syrup on the pancake
Porkins I was a teenager in the 80s, and for us there was only one real park to go to regularly: Magic Mountain. Knott’s was an occasional thing, and Disney was a family thing. And Universal Studios was quite hokey back then and only something we did when family visiting from out of the country wanted to go.
I went to California for the first time back in September and visited Magic Mountain, Knott's and Disneyland. Of all of them I think I'll remember Knott's most fondly. SFMM had the impressive rides and Disney was Disney, but something about Knotts felt really genuine and welcoming. It helped that it was the quietest of the parks, as Disney was absolutely heaving and I ended up going to SFMM on Labour Day so I really got to savour the atmosphere of Knott's and it left the biggest impression on me.
TurboJUK I agree. my friend from work toke his family to Disneyland and the kids were so disappointed that they only got to get on 4 rides the whole day. I told him take Beach boulevard West and you can't miss it. (Knott's). they went the following year and his kids sent me a thank you card for recommending Knotts. Now that's where they want to go all the time for vacation.
Those are the big 3 in Socal. I enjoy MAGIC the most however you have to go on a day that's not crowed to be able to get on all the coasters. However I could see why Knotts would be your favorite it's smaller and youre able to get on everything without rushing like you would at Disney or Magic. It also has decent rides and there's something about Ghost Town. I find myself taking my time and being able to enjoy the park.
Good to hear! Knott’s is my favorite theme park. It saddens me that all family likes Disneyland and sfmm more than Knott’s. Im the only one that likes Knott’s more than anyone else in my whole family. And I’m glad I do.
Dooble Don't worry, the rides they made in Japan are miles better than the ones they made in the states. It had to do with their steel manufacturer for the states.
Miles Campbell mm tends to just use their fame for being near Hollywood and not care about what they have. They need more family rides. The only ones I can think of a buccaneer and swashbuckler
My favorite memory of Soapbox Racers was the teeth shattering brake check that the ride started with. Sad to see Boomerang is gone. Sadder to see it not colored blue
I rode Corkscrew back in its first year. The inversion was a big deal then, but the ride was ridiculously short. I used to love Wacky Soap Box Racers, though. And a dark ride called Knott’s Beary Tales.
StamfordBridge - the whole thing was just a bunch of illusions and perception warps (I watched a video of it a while back, it's actually before my time), but it was interesting to watch and that's what counts (still better the most stuff these days -.-).
The Corkscrew was the first real rollercaoster I ever rode. I worked at Knott's the year ut closed and rode it the very last night it operated at Knott's. It will always be my favorite coaster!
I feel SO old! Went on Corkscrew the week it opened at Knott's. Flash forward 43 years. Rode it again at Silverwood. It totally did not live up to my childhood memories. I forgot how short it is. Back in its final years at Knott's, they used to run it through twice, if there was no line. Aftershock was a blast though, and Timber Terror was fun, if a bit dated and pretty tame, by today's standards.
I just love how I see Knott's related things, whether it be a video, an advertisement, or a simple photo, yet I'm currently working there as I speak. Lmao I can't escape. It's all cool tho XD Aside from my five cents, good video recapping these coasters. I can say that Hangtime was definitely a good decision on the park's part to have added to the coasters we got. It's fun, looks nice, and everyone's been desperate to ride it, myself included!
Boomerang was relocated to a park in Indonesia. And where is that dinosaur ride, hammerhead, the original knott's berry tales, perilous plunge, and riptide? Also knott's removed the camp bus, Rocky Mountain trucking ride, the Ferris wheel, huff n puff, and timberline twister.
Memory lane . . . ah, those Soapbox Racers were really something special, though it's hard to explain why. It was especially wonderful when all of the theme elements were present, all the cartoonish figures and doors that would pop around . . .
I love these videos that you do!!! I wanted to ask you to please do other rides that are gone as well. I know there’s gotta be more at Knotts, I even saw a petition to bring back the dinosaur ride. That ride, the Soap Box and the sideways haunted house (can’t remember the name, I’m not sure if it’s gone or not) were my childhood!
As a young teen. Wind jammer was my ride. Plus knotts was the theme park in the late 90s to the early 00s. I have great great memories and had alot of fun, going to knotts as a teen
My favorite Knotts coaster? Hmm. The coasters are good, but is it weird that I actually prefer some of their other rides like The Parachutes, Mine Cart, Robbed Train, Stage Coach and Kingdom of the Dinosaurs? I guess Ghost Rider. I love a good wooden.
Knott's had a pass holder opening last week for Hangtime. I was very impressed. Much better then Boomerang. The lights at night are awesome. The whole track is lit up and changes colors.
Never got to ride Xcelorator cause it was closed that day :( that was my highlighted attraction, I also didn't get to ride the mouse one, which closed when we got to the front of the line, we also didn't get to ride Mamboza's Revenge (Something like that), or the log flume that we waited hours to ride.
It is good to see mentioned Soap Box Racers, tho I only remember it with the motorcycles. Given the changeover likely happened around the time when we moved away from the area, I never got to ride the Soap Box version. :(
Unfortunately I was one of the people who went on that mechanical nightmare roller coaster or Windjammer back in 1998 to celebrate my 18th birthday and when I went on it I noticed what people were taking about as the car on the yellow coaster track wasn't working so I rode the car on the red coaster track and thought maybe I was imagining things when my back was hurting some after going on that ride but I did also go on 5 other coasters that day too, guess I wasn't imagining things wish I could have known that ride would be gone just two years later.
I remember Cyclechase. Almost scared the poo out of me (I was about 15 at the time). No seat belts, straps, or anything. I literally thought I was hanging on for my life; I constantly thought I was just barely hanging on and felt lucky to not have fallen off when it was finally over. And I was a very tough and adventurous kid! Certainly one of the most dangerous things I've ever done--and I'm a rock climber, scuba diver, caver, and sky diver. And yes, I have been riding motorcycles (dirt bikes) since I was 9.
3:52 I would love to see this coaster as a dueling S&S El Loco. With all of the inverting elements and especially the cantilever turns that you see on most El Loco coasters. In fact I’ll try and make this once I get no limits or planet coaster.
we always thought knotts was hauntingly cursed through the 70s and 80s between all the suicide jumpers off the parachute ride and the corkscrew’s incidents . the corkscrew in my time seemed always having maintenance issues, injuries and a couple of deaths . i recall the coaster many times not going fast enough to wear when you went through the second loop you would fall against the restraints due to lack of g force .
I remember riding windjammer, theyd have these bumpers on each side of your head and going on it would cause your head to bounce between the two. youd leave with a headache. It really sucked
there's only 1 boomerang coaster in the netherlands. i am waiting for knott's berry farm's boomerang to come to drievliet. hopefully they will get rubber restraints on it
Silver wood is my local theme park (15 minutes away) and Corkscrew may be a rough ride, but it is fun. Corkscrew is usually peoples first upside down ride. (Including me) if you ever visit I suggest sitting in the front for a somewhat smooth ride. Or in the back for a rough but really fun ride!(if sitting in back try your hardest to hold your head still because you usually hit your head a lot).
Dude, totally envy you. I have lived in Pullman for almost 20 years, and JUST this August finally got up there. Growing up right near Magic Mountain, having an annual passport for Disneyland (and of course Knott's, being right near Disneyland) I got really spoiled. I seriously miss just hoping in the car and picking one.
i actually have very fond memories of wind jammer. always thought it was a fun and silly ride. though I will say I do like accelerator, i do miss wind jammer quite a bit, especially the color scheme.
Can please do a "Former Coasters at Dorney Park" ? There were 7 (sadly including Stinger) Roller coasters that used to operate at the park. I would love to one.
I loved the soapbox racer ride, would repeatedly ride that when I was a kid :) Do they still have the parachute ride? u should talk about that scary ass ride lol. Or the spacecraft ride the goes in a circle but you control it up and down and upside down, I never controlled it to go upside down cuz it scares the shit outta me.
I've been on the corkscrew at Silverwood in Idaho. It's fun, but the head brace slammed the backings of my stud earrings into my neck on the loops. Ouch!
As a teenager in the late eighties, Knott's was the place to go. Many fond memories of the Corkscrew and the Whacky Soap Box racers!
Porkins no cedar point was!!!!!! Cedar point is far more superior than its brother/sister/cousin parks!!!!!!! Ugh fan boy rage!!!! Ha just kidding I loved knotts as a kid and I still love it!!! That was like the syrup on the pancake

And Universal Studios was quite hokey back then and only something we did when family visiting from out of the country wanted to go.
Well I lived 10 minutes from Knott's so for us, that was the place to be.
Porkins Yeah, and I lived closer to MM than to Knott’s.
I worked at Knott's in the late 80's and my friends and I would hang out at Studio K and Cloud 9 and dance all night.
I went to California for the first time back in September and visited Magic Mountain, Knott's and Disneyland. Of all of them I think I'll remember Knott's most fondly. SFMM had the impressive rides and Disney was Disney, but something about Knotts felt really genuine and welcoming. TurboJUK I also agree. I went in the Summer of 2014 and am glad I did. It's a great park with some truly unique and thrilling rides.
Those are the big 3 in Socal. I enjoy MAGIC the most however you have to go on a day that's not crowed to be able to get on all the coasters. I rode pony Express for the fist time this year and tho I wish it were longer I still loved it.
I guess you could say, the Boomerang didn’t come back this time! Haha. Lol..

Well what do u expect? it's called Wind Jammers cuz it gets jammed by the wind. XD
Almost like the real definition of a Windjammer!
(Someone will get it)
Ghost Rider is my favorite at knotts
Me too.
Same
I miss the soapbox racers. My dad took me on them when i was a child. My fondest memory with him.
i went to knotts while boomerang was still operating but i never got to go on it :(
It was so fun I wish they would bring it back
I flinched at the word togo.
Dooble Don't worry, the rides they made in Japan are miles better than the ones they made in the states. It had to do with their steel manufacturer for the states.
When I rode windjammer surf racers My shoulders hurt for a week because those restraints were horrible
4:24 Which led to a brutally rough experience that smash rider's heads like an ANGRY GAMER'S KEYBOARD
Ah yes Knott's Berry Farm. One of my favorite theme parks. I even like this better than Six Flags Magic Mountain. Just by a a little bit though.
Patrick Kim I agree
Patrick Kim fiesta Texas is more related
Yes true because MM is too focused on roller coasters rather than variety thrill like flat rides which knots has
Miles Campbell mm tends to just use their fame for being near Hollywood and not care about what they have. They need more family rides. The only ones I can think of a buccaneer and swashbuckler
Buildin'_ Six they are building a flat ride for the 2018 season so that's a start.
My favorite memory of Soapbox Racers was the teeth shattering brake check that the ride started with.
Sad to see Boomerang is gone. Sadder to see it not colored blue
When I went to Knotts berry farm, about 46 years ago, I remember going on a ride called Montezuma’s revenge
Ahhhh my home park. I love Knotts. Ghostrider is definitely my favorite. I miss Boomerang already however 🤧 hopefully this new ride Hangtime is good!
Let me tell you how is it, it ain’t nothing like boomerang BUT it had loops and an awesome new color. ;)
It sure is super good
I rode Corkscrew back in its first year. The inversion was a big deal then, but the ride was ridiculously short. I used to love Wacky Soap Box Racers, though. And a dark ride called Knott’s Beary Tales.
StamfordBridge I just rode it this year at it's new home, it's okay as long as you sit in the last car anywhere else is painful.
What about the haunted shack?
0MindSwept0 I had totally forgotten about the Haunted Shack and your post made me go look up videos and it all came back! Thank you.
AlTheGameFreak That’s funny (but a little sad) about the Racers. And how has a lot of the stuff from Beary Tales survived?
StamfordBridge - the whole thing was just a bunch of illusions and perception warps (I watched a video of it a while back, it's actually before my time), but it was interesting to watch and that's what counts (still better the most stuff these days -.-).
I remember riding the motorcycles and parachutes when i was a kid, felt like i was going to fall out if the rides.

Unical_Magicorn Perilous Plunge wasn’t a roller coaster
True
People say it isn't really a coaster, but I'd consider it one.
or riptide!
not a coaster
Just got home from Knott's yesterday
Who rember when knotts was still a farm. That was the best era!
The Corkscrew was the first real rollercaoster I ever rode. I worked at Knott's the year ut closed and rode it the very last night it operated at Knott's. It will always be my favorite coaster!
Interestingly, I’ve been on the Boomerang during my second visit in 2009.
Went to Silverwood this summer and rode the Corkscrew, more or less your standard arrow Corkscrew but it definitely had jerkier transitions
Wind jammer surf racers?
Yeah! Because, you feel the wind and your body is jammed against the restraint killing you instantly!
Bro I love your channel. Keep it going! I look forward to every video.
Cool video man! I've been going to knotts my whole life and i honestly never knew about these old rides! Glad i subbed.
heh... corkscrew was knott scrapped...
The Lionel Railfan Yep got to ride it this year.
These puns. They are hurting my eyes!

Lesson: Never get TOGO to open a new coaster at your park. I'm glad they're bankrupt and gone now. Did they even learn engineering or physics?
They probably dropped out of middle school thinking they'll become the next Bill Gates, but in Japan.
The only good thing that came out of this is that a great evil was defeated. Togo.
I still miss the corkscrew. Still love the revolution and the log ride of course.
I hope you had an awesome thanksgiving tpc!

Illinois Coasters it's still closed?
Illinois Coasters Its gonna reopen next year probably in time for hangtime
Why did it close? Are they refurbishing it, last time I went there part of the break Run was missing
Edit: but we have *hang* in there till then
its reopening sometime in 2018
It’s open again. They also have cars that have seats facing backwards now, but those trains weren’t in use

Ha! I was 8 in 96, and I certainly remember the wacky soap box when I first moved to CA!

I really miss Perilous Plunge!
I did love the Soap Box Racers!!!
Wacky Racers looked awesome ... thanks for the share !!!!
great video as always (:
Even when I walk by now I can still hear the soap box races cars going by. Always can hear it. I was a lucky one to ride it
Mine is Xcelarator but it may change when Hang Time opens :)
HangTime might be my new favorite ride at Knotts now!
ARC Voices omg I love hangtime it’s the best ride ever
@@valeriaguerrero2102 yep. Hang time is so smooth and nice. While at the same time thrilling.

Montezuma's Revenge.

It is good to see mentioned Soap Box Racers, tho I only remember it with the motorcycles. Given the changeover likely happened around the time when we moved away from the area, I never got to ride the Soap Box version. :(
I rode corkscrew and the racer when it first had the motorcycles. Way back then they were quite exciting.
Would you please consider making a video on Opryland which was here in Nashville, TN but was torn down to build a shopping mall?
Unfortunately I was one of the people who went on that mechanical nightmare roller coaster or Windjammer back in 1998 to celebrate my 18th birthday and when I went on it I noticed what people were taking about as the car on the yellow coaster track wasn't working so I rode the car on the red coaster track and thought maybe I was imagining things when my back was hurting some after going on that ride but I did also go on 5 other coasters that day too, guess I wasn't imagining things wish I could have known that ride would be gone just two years later.
I've seen the boomerang when I was in 4th grade in 2014 but never rode it
I have ridden hangtime its a great ride
If there’s anything I’ve learned from studying former/defunct coasters, it’s that no one should’ve ever trusted Togo.
windjammers, prime example.
FINALLY ANOTHER FORMER COASTERS THESE ARE AWESOME
I remember Cyclechase. Almost scared the poo out of me (I was about 15 at the time). No seat belts, straps, or anything. Theme Park crazy i love your channel can you do your top 10 coasters
I used to go to Knott's Berry Farm about 2 years ago but recently I visited it and I'm getting a year pass in January.
When I was a kid I love the cycle racer I think I spent the whole day riding it it was awesome
Corkscrew gave me a massive headache the first time i rode it lol. But i love the boomerang silverwood has! It’s so fun!
Corkscrew (Silverwood) was my first coaster to invert
3:52 I would love to see this coaster as a dueling S&S El Loco. With all of the inverting elements and especially the cantilever turns that you see on most El Loco coasters. In fact I’ll try and make this once I get no limits or planet coaster.
I can’t wait for your top 15! Have you been to Cedar Point?
we always thought knotts was hauntingly cursed through the 70s and 80s between all the suicide jumpers off the parachute ride and the corkscrew’s incidents . the corkscrew in my time seemed always having maintenance issues, injuries and a couple of deaths . i recall the coaster many times not going fast enough to wear when you went through the second loop you would fall against the restraints due to lack of g force .
I remember riding windjammer, theyd have these bumpers on each side of your head and going on it would cause your head to bounce between the two. youd leave with a headache. It really sucked

WOW GREAT VID!
Great video!!
there's only 1 boomerang coaster in the netherlands. i am waiting for knott's berry farm's boomerang to come to drievliet. hopefully they will get rubber restraints on it
Do you think they will bring back maybe KBT or the Soapbox Racers one day? Very little to do at the park besides coasters or carnival rides.
they are bringing back KBT in 2020
You forgot about perilous plunge water ride. And the parachute sky jump those where attractions worth mentioning 👍🏽
Silver wood is my local theme park (15 minutes away) and Corkscrew may be a rough ride, but it is fun. Corkscrew is usually peoples first upside down ride. Corkscrew at Knott’s was the first to have 2 inversions, and Canobie Corkscrew at Canobie Lake Park, was the second to have 2 inversions.
There was a time in the 70s where you waited.2hours for the first corkscrew. Long wait short ride.
You should do Former Coasters of Alton Towers

It's the same type of ride, but the layouts and theming are very different.
