    Good evening Travis. I have a suggestion if there's room in your tater rotation.
    I tried the "Charlotte " variety from Wood Prairie this year and they are outstanding 👌. Not big taters but they'll make you lick the plate.

      Thanks for the tip! Might have to try that one next year.

    Think I’m gonna start fertilizing my seedlings I tend to just transplant them sooner into a mix with good results

    The only time I use the "blue stuff" is my transplants. I push everything hard, under lights and the space is limited so I need to move things outside as soon as possible. Three weeks for brassicas and lettuce, more for other things. Half strength after the first true leaf, full strength after. I love Agrothrive. I use both the general purpose and fruit and flower. Best liquid fertilizer ever. Get the optional dispenser spout that measures a gallon dose a full squirt . The stuff is messy otherwise and smells funky.

    Ever try the synthetic fertilizer on your seedlings and then maybe bottom water them with some compost or worm casting extract the day before you transplant? Might work to put some robust biology on the roots before they go in the ground.

    • @pilsplease7561
      @pilsplease7561 Před rokem

      Honestly organic and synthetic achieve the same goal and arguably I prefer synthetic because the difference is its made from naturally occuring compounds that are stimulated to produce the end compound which is natural just how its made being in a lab means it cant be labelled organic, If anything so called synthetic contains less harmful and less contaminants than organic fertilizers do. Having used both and gardened full synthetic and full organic synthetic just produces better results across the board.

    What tarp do you use for covering your beds? I've been searching your videos for a link in the description, but haven't found it. Thanks

    • @LazyDogFarm
      @LazyDogFarm  Před rokem +1

      It's a 6 mil, UV resistant black tarp. They sell them at the Agri-Supply stores around here.

  • @Frankie_902

    I'm loading my empty garden beds with rabbit and composted chicken poop to get it ready for spring. Should I cover it with a tarp to keep down any germination of unwanted seeds? Or would that be too dangerous to cover the poop?
    I use rabbit poop tea to fertilize my transplants. Even though it's rabbit poo I do make a weak tea until they've been in their permanent place for 2 weeks. Then I give them full strength. **Depending on what veggies they are.

    • @LazyDogFarm
      @LazyDogFarm  Před rokem

      You could cover it. But you could also just go out there every week or two and lightly scratch the soil surface to kill any small weeds trying to emerge.

    Question about my onions seeds. They are taking longer to come up. Most of my other fall plants have popped up fast. Had them inside around 73 degrees. Hot last few days outside. But now that temps are coming down I have moved everything outside in a little shaded spot on some tables. It’s been about 5 days and they have been a little wetter than I would normally like. Have not watered any of my seed trays since I seeded them. All my other plants have came up fine. I’m I just in too much of a hurry?

    • @randybingham1342
      @randybingham1342 Před rokem

      Onions usually take closer to 10 days or so in my experience.

    • @TMesser74
      @TMesser74 Před rokem

      I noticed this year that my onion seeds from last year that I had in the freezer since I started them this time last year came up in a few days and the ones I ordered this year are barely popping up. So… I’m thinking I need to order them earlier next time and put them in the freezer from now on. But I started mine outside in the 99 degree heat under my front porch and they’ve all come up quicker than they did last year when I started them in the house.

    • @TMesser74
      @TMesser74 Před rokem

      Like Randy said, give them closer to 10 days before you start worrying.

      Did three trays of onions...the heat allowed about a 10 percent germination rate..im trying again as onions and peppers are my favorite...somehow i ended up with only jalapenos...ahould of had about 20 bell peppers and 10 jalapenos..AND SOMEHOW i got two hatch plants...idn..worse pepper year ever...way way too hot for bells...and zero water since 1 may...every dam storm has split and missed us...but that was way back in may and first week of june. .oh well...just keep on trying i guess..
