My uncle took me to my first game vs Ole Miss with Archie at the wheel. That cemented my love for Ga. We went through many ups and downs both in seasons and coaches, but the saddest day I knew was going to be that fall afternoon when Larry Munson did not come through my radio. You will always be the hallmark.
I moved to Georgia (from Michigan) in '04 and Larry's enthusiastic commentary turned this Big Ten devotee into a Dawgs fan too. Thank you, Larry and go with God.... From a Wolverines fan
In the mid to late 1980s I used to listen to Larry Munson recite THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS each year at Christmas time on WSB Radio in Atlanta on my commute to work. They always played it in the mornings along with the weather and traffic report and the news. His version of this became my favorite. Wish there was a CZcams video of him reading it. I would love to hear it in his voice again and share it with my kids. He was one of a kind...and that voice! He made GA Football so exciting!
Used to load up in the 4wheel drive trucks, plural, with washtubs of cold beer and ride through Braswell Mountain Road between YORKVILLE and Braswell with Larry on EVERY TRUCKS RADIO!!BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE.
In the annals of all time. No ond and I mean no one has ever can could ever be or replace Munson in a broad casting booth. The Best of The Best. Always and forever. MUNSON
There will never be another Larry Munson anywhere but he left us enough great memories on UGA Radio to last us all a lifetime. Maybe the most memorable of all is,We just stepped on their face with a hobnailed boot and broke their face.
I grew up listening to Munson before all the games were televised. Never be another Munson RIP Big Dawg.
Just not the same without you Larry! RIP
