Just rescued a fledgling Blue Jay from the local crows. Prayers I can keep him alive... he is so close to being able to actually fly. Prayers appreciated... ❤️❤️❤️
Our best is all we can do. Thank you for taking care of wildlife!
Taking care of two right now. Courtesy of a mean hawk. They are precious! I feed them mostly water soaked high quality dry dog food and blueberries. Praying in Jesus’s name for your babies survival!
Can we get an update? Did they make it
I just found one tonight wondering around the yard. A dead one the same size near by. I brought him in. I’ll be feeding him. I have cats though so I’m nervous about it. I have a lot of blue jays around that I feed so I’m hoping I can get this little guy safely to adulthood somehow
@@cheriser9181 feed it soften dry dog food. We soak ours in hot water until it’s soft. Ours are thriving and just a complete joy! Bring a large bare branch inside if possible to perch. Line floor with news paper for droppings
It was quite the journey with Billy Blue Jay! Hope he lives a long and healthy life! Stay strong, little guy!
Here here! Cheers!
Blue Jay's are EXTREMELY family oriented and take care of each other no matter what age.
Yes, you’re right. Humans should learn from them. Lol cheers!
Well done! I raised one for 2 months and thank God he’s doing well. I’ll call out to him and He visits me several times a day especially around 7pm. He made my summer.❤
That’s awesome! How rewarding is that! Thanks for taking care of wildlife! Cheers to you!
he tasted it and didn't want any more. 😂 turning his head away just like a baby human 💓💓
He was an awesome little bird!
One blueberry, mealy worm, two crickets...and a partridge in a pear tree!
We can learn a lesson from these Blue Jays, we should all be helping one another
I've got 2 babies , the Father is part security, mother feeds them. They sleep in a warm crate and put them out on the tree 6am. Have to watch them and put them back in tree when they fall or jump.
Recently had two fledglings on the ground after a storm. Put them in a cage on the back screened porch. One was larger than the other and almost able to fly. Sure enough the adult blue jays heard his cries and came to investigate. I let him out he immediately flew into a tree where several other jays began to come and feed him. Looked like a success story. Next day I found his pile of feathers on the ground in the back wooded area of the yard. He was one of two that came out of the nest. The smaller one I still have. Going on two weeks now. As I’m watching him grow I decided to stop feeding him directly with the tweezers and just leave worms, strawberries and scrambled eggs seed and nuts on the floor of the cage. He has started eating this way and I’m hopeful he will be better able to feed himself when released. I don’t want to wait too long because I’m sure he has much to learn from the adult jays (gathering and calls and such).
My cat brought me a baby blue jay in the middle of the night last night! Not exactly what I wanted to see at 6am, but we've had a fairly successful day of it. Feeding every 30 minutes or so. Glad to see your video, there may be hope of avoiding the long trip to the bird rehab center. (This is the second live, unharmed bird my cat has brought into the house. I guess he's more of a collector than a killer, I hope.)
K R Good luck with it! It’s a lot of work, but it’s quite rewarding to see them released free. They are very interesting critters! Cheers!
I Love your caring of Billy Baby Blue. God's reward in Heaven for you will be great for caring for His loving animals.🙏🏻😁👍 Please don't ever stop.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I am actually taking care of a Bluejay right now to release it back in the wild oh and I have a great knowledge of Blue Jays
What do you feed these guys I just found one
We just found 3! Not sure what to do!
how is he?
me too!
We found a scrub jay a wild cat had.. he is thriving.. we are teaching him to eat off the ground throwing worms and thing for him to pick up on his own.. if we do a soft release, will he survive?? We did this with a mockingbird last year and all was good.. took a week being out every day to take the plunge..
Do u do the same things for scrub jays? Can find no information anaywhere
Thank you
Vikki
Great video. I got a fledgling in the backyard who isn't getting much attention and this is very educational.
Glad my video helped you. Thank you for taking care of wildlife. Cheers to you!
This video is very helpful. I have a baby blue jay fledgling that fell from its nest. I had been wondering and hoping adult blue jays would take care of it even if it wasn't their own baby. To see a group take turns feeding it gives me hope.
@@angelvashir i’m glad it was helpful to you. Thank you for taking care of wildlife! Cheers!
What a beautiful rescue story!!! 🤍🩶🖤💙
Mother nature is the best! Cheers!
He's tired! You're a kind, patient man!
Love the small lives!
i came across this and it depressed me. We had a big storm one day and I accidentally stepped on a baby while its siblings screamed. I was so upset and I'll never forget every detail. I took rest of the babies back to my apartment in box and fed them while I prepared to build them a new nest. I got them back into a tree and mama came back to it after about a day. I kept an eye on them until they left the nest. I actually got to see both of them leave the nest and I was so proud.
That's a tragedy, but they'll live on through you and through me who had seen this comment. You're a kind soul for rescuing those beautiful babies. RIP little ones
Thank God that person rescued that precious baby from the cat!
Thank you for sharing this. Last night, God showed me a fallen Blue Jay chick. I prayed that He protect it from the male mute swan coming for fallen ripe mangoes. And I was able to get it and brought in the house. I can't reach the nest. New subscriber here.
Do your best to take care of it. Thank you for taking care of wildlife! And thanks for the sub! Cheers!
this just made my day. i got so interested in the story and was cheering Billy on. Thank you!!!!
You’re welcome! And thanks for following along! Cheers!
This was fascinating! You did an awesome job. I’ve been concentrating on and trying to learn a little bit more about Bluejay behavior and this helped a lot. Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad that you enjoyed it and it was able to benefit you. Mother nature is the best!
I rescued a baby Bluejay from my cats and it looks much younger then this one, im not entirely sure what to do to take care of it but every time I make a crow noise it opens its mouth so I can feed it and give it water
Hopefully it eats and you can save it. Thank you for taking care of wildlife! Cheers!
@floydwebtube no problem :) and it's been eating and drinking a little more so I think he'll live, right now he has diarrhea though, im not sure if I should buy him medicine or not for it
Everyone's seen squirrels tease other animals... looks like that cat got tired of his shit lol
LOL 😆
The music part was so interesting 🤗
Thank you, most people never comment on the background music, unless they’re complaining it’s too loud. Lol Cheers!
Rescued a fledgling from 3 cats; 1 dropped it out its mouth while, 2 bystanders watched. Unfortunately, the day before, I found dead what I think was mom or dad and 2 days after finding this one, found dead, what looked like its sibling. Think they both tried leaving the nest, going after food when mom didn’t not return. I looked for a nest when I first found him, to no avail. No rescue rehabs in the area or any licensed place would help, so I have been caring for this sweet thing for 8 days now. Trying to take it outside a lot and research how and when to release it back outside. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for taking care of wildlife! Cheers!
Floyd, people like you has a heart of golden love. Enjoyed video-wished all humans could have this compassion.
I agree. At least in these tough times, despite the cruelty ive seen, i have seen more kindness and compassion for others and for animals. Maybe one day we can all share that, i hope so
Oh god ! Sweetheart ❤❤❤
I tried to save a baby Jay last night. Neighbors found it and I rushed home with the baby. I made it a nest watched an instructional video on baby Jay care but it was too late, I noticed the baby fell asleep and thought it would be ok. I went to check on it and noticed that it had passed away..I buried baby Jay in the yard. I fed the birds and squirrels; I'm trying to stay positive for the ones that need me........poor thing never got a chance to soar.....sad day for baby Jay
Thank you for the videos; it made me less nervous knowing a little about care for the small ones...well, take care.....
Thank you for your efforts in caring for wildlife. We can only do the best we can do, and mother nature will always take its course. Stay positive, and enjoy nature. Cheers to you!
Bingo .Number 1 video .I have been looking for this .
Excellent. I hope it helps you out and you enjoyed it. Thank you for taking care of wildlife. Cheers!
No capture me! 🤣
Good job! This just happened to us. Fell out of nest. Nailed a makeshift basket under nest, supplement fed 1/4 blueberries & mealworms until parents found him and started feeding frequently. 10 days later he is reunited w fledglings and family in Maple tree. They have all migrated now. I miss him.
FLY HIGH FREE BIRD❤
Years ago I tried to save a baby blue Jay (we named him Blue Jay Leno) and a dove (Dove Letterman) but was unsuccessful. A few years ago I found a VERY YOUNG male Cardinal I named Roscoe. This brought back all the memories of struggling to feed him. Happily I was able to save him and he grew into the most amazing bird. I released him many times but he always returned and wanted to come back to his home in our sunroom where he had a huge cage that was always open so he had complete run of the room. He actually housebroke himself and would fly into the cage to relieve himself. But somebody reported me and he was confiscated by the Florida Wildlife Commission. I am about to publish a book titled ROSCOE: My CARDINAL Sin
Lmao 😂😅
I will be looking for the book.
We fund a baby blue jay in the hot sun, hardly feathered, and ants crawling all over it. We think it was knocked out of nest. We feed her moistened dogfood and liver. She loves the liver! We have been taking her outside to frolick in the grass and next week we teach her how to hunt bugs in the grass.
man mine is super chill and loves me to death 😂 It's gonna be hard to let him go but he'll be free
I love these little guys
I found one a week ago, with one broken leg and just one eye. I'm feeding him with a puree of beans, eggs, potato, corn meal, chiken meat or ham, carrots, toasted peanuts and wathever I had at home and see that he liked. Also some fruits pieces and water. I'm washing his butt, beak, face and dirty body parts, taking him outside to get some sun light and exercises his wings. He looks nice and healty. Guessing that I can't release him into the wild due the lack of one eye.
Oh really we have the situation we got one a week ago and his legs are weak and can not stand properly so we feed him whole wheat bread and warm blue berry but now he stopped eating warm anymore only bread 😂
@@afghanoutdoorboys2997 bread is extremely bad for any bird :(
Do you have any updates? I found a wild bird as well ):

Leo the wolf or crickets, flies, mealworms, peanuts, sunflower seeds unsalted, and bird food crushed into tiny pieces.

Me too this is literally what happen to me I’m literally looking stuff up about it. My cat got it and it was on the ground I live by a huge field I would never find or get her in the nest and the mom did not come back. I can’t leave it in a box on a tree like foogle says and u don’t need to wear glove if u find one and it’s easier to leave it in the.box and feed them bugs and blueberry
Do all the research you can to help you out, and just do the best you can for the bird. Thank you for taking care of wildlife. Cheers to you!
I need this as I am trying to save a baby blue Jay. I hope he lives and I can release him into the wild.
And I really hope he comes back to visit me.
You did a good job at narrating the progress. The feeding in the beginning was a tad hard to watch but it was a baby and all babies have the tendency to be complicated at times. The transition from natural feeding to human feeding a wild animal is different I'm sure. I give ya a 9.5 out of 10 for effort. You did your due diligence on keeping him fed safe and gave him a chance to grow. Is there any updates on Billy or was this it for your story.
Thank you for your kind words, and for watching my video. Cheers to you!
My neighbor just knocked on my door (Sat night @9:15pm) said there is a bird stuck in the fence.
Turns out it is fledgling blue jay.
Baby has more feathers than the baby at the start of the video -and it seems to be able to jump/fly pretty well. I hope to be able to reunite with parents and family.
🤞
Thank you for taking care of wildlife. Cheers!
First I had one blue jay coming to my balcony for food, shortly later he brought another one. I just guess the first one is a male and the second, slightly smaller, is a female. Last year they came with their little one and I was melting
Thank you for sharing your experience with Billy Jay ;) very interesting

@@floydwebtube thank you! We did heavily consider the humane society but we feared he would be released in an unfamiliar environment. We have a whole colony of Blue Jays in our back yard. He's doing very well and he's learning every day!

Blue Jays are amazing, yes? You channel is pretty interesting - all of it! Liked and subbed from a jersey girl!

I have a baby bluejay now. He's eating so we'll. I tweet at him and he tweets back and then mouth wide open! 😂 I'm feeding wet cat food and boiled eggs. I truly hope I find his parents on our future outings. Right now he's too little to go outside and loves to be held.
He played music and the bird was trying to sing, because its at the age he learns other blue jay calls...
Yes, most animals when you get them very young will bond with you and “imprint“. The imprint portion of that is dangerous if you plan to release them to the wild and want to keep them wild.
20:56 that’s so cute!
Great job !
There's a baby blue jay at my window with one eye closed. ☹
Maybe it’s winking at you. 😁
@@floydwebtube Ha, I wish that were so. I think he has some avian disease. The parent jay comes around with two fledglings -- one is clearly more developed than the other.

I found you because there are fledgling bluebirds in my yard they’re flying around and doing fine but this video is a few years old do you know whatever happened to the little fledgling Bluejay? Great work thank you for doing this love your perspective on everything and was that your music at the end? Fantastic.
Hello Tracy, the little bird in my video was successfully rehabilitated back into the flock and just kind of blended in to the wilderness. The way it should be. Thank you for your comments. The music in this video is not my own, although if you scour through my CZcams channel, there is a bunch of my original music, and cover songs up there. I hope you are subscribed too! Cheers!
The part of the baby being fed by the adults gave me hope. Thank you for sharing this. My neighbor found two babies (only one alive) in her yard this morning. I've rehab'd birds before, but never a blu-jay. We tried looking for the nest they came out of, but couldn't find it. No adults were around either (which was unusual, since I normally have many in my yard).
Christina Hagerman it’s spelled blue jay, and just take care of it now.

@@ii_Spectre I'm so sorry to offend you by my trying to learn about the care of a bird. I've rehabilitated many birds in the past, but never a BLUE JAY. My neighbor told me it was a BLUE JAY, but turns out it was just too young to tell. It turned out to not be a BLUE JAY, but instead a Robin. Found the nest. Returned the baby. The baby and the one that was still in the nest have already fledged. Good bye jerk.
Christina Hagerman that’s ok, and at least you figured out what species it was and was able to return to the nest. I’m sorry too, I was a little anxious. Maybe where you live they are called Blujays.
I have 2 right now . They have doubled in size in the last 4 days. There so strong and noisy. I feed them insects, worms, cat food. Blueberries and scrambled eggs. They are big eaters too.

i found a bluejay and raised her for 5 months and got very attached to her ,i set her free about 8 to 10 times and she always came back,,she would land on my shoulder and i walk her into the house .sometimes being gone around 4 hours..i let her fly on oct 5th and i have not seen her since ..i dont know if she migrated or if a hawk got her..i have over 40 videoes of her in my house ...i love and miss hoppy prettybird so much it hurts i just cant get her out of my mind ...i hope and pray she will come back in the spring.god i love and miss her so much ,i hope she is alive and happy.i have a 60 lb pitbull and hoppy survived in the house with her ,,she was scared of hoppy ,i would love to think she has survived out in the wild..she did fly towards where hawks have been swirling in the sky ..i should have kept her in my house ..bluejays are very smart and ornery..i could answer alot of questions on how to raise them but i cant answer what happened to my beautiful baby hoppy..my videoes are on messenger.i still shed alot of tears for my baby bird
She definitely met her mate. And you gave her the best chance of life possible no doubt
You're a wonderful person, and your baby loves and remembers you. They are social creatures who form lifelong bonds. Has she come back yet? There's also the possibility that she found a mate, and you raised her up to be a mama!
Me and my aunt just found a baby blue jay and we gave it some water, it wouldnt eat anything. It was so worked up. Tomorrow morning were going to go to Walmart and get some meal worms and other stuff to feed and care for it properly. Wish us luck!
Sunny_SideUp All the best, and good luck! Thanks for taking care of our wildlife! Cheers!
I’ve got a baby jay who is eating well. Found after dark last night on the ground. First I gave it a chick mixture of electrolytes and probiotics made it a nest covered it in chicken feathers and this morning it listened to this video and ate some suet cake mixed with canned cat food via an eye dropper. Today I will try to get the other jays involved by putting its cage out. Had great success last week with a nestling of gnat catcher( I’m drawing a blank on the species) that was attacked by a Blue Jay and knocked from its nest. Ironic that now I found this little one in need of assistance
Mine likes peanut butter.. when catfood doesn't work
he wants some more of the soft tasty morsels that you feed him..
I love the birds I love to feed them I have 3 blue Jay's I feed them PEANUTS and Seeds
Soak y'some gpod quality dry dawg-food, them lil'jays'll grow like Jack's beanstalk!!
Marie DeLozier no, give them mealworms, crickets, peanuts, and bird food (for parakeets and other birds) crushed into tiny pieces.
If you want to catch cats. You have to camouflage the cage for cats man. I promise if you camouflage the cage you will get it. Also...put it near a place he is constantly using...like gaps in fences...or if you see him coming g out of something...Camouflage is the only way I catch cats...
👍
Hey Floyd ☺️ I was watching your video trying to figure out how often did you feed him. I’ve found three babies (like 2 or 3 weeks old). Every time they see me they start asking for food, any advise?
Malu Perdomo Feed them as often as you can, as long as they’ll take food. When they’re not hungry, they will refuse it.
floydwebtube thank you VERY MUCH!!!
@@floydwebtube What exactly can you feed him? I just found a baby fledging in my backyard. Hes full of energy.
How long did you keep Him, before you released him?
Once he flew off into the woods and the others were caring for him, it was time for him to go. I know fledglings are still vulnerable on the ground, but that is nature, and nothing I can do about that. I believe he was well taken care of by his flock, and that he flew off to be a healthy Bluejay.
What does it mean when he open and closes his feet?
I have no idea. 😁
I want to get crickets for a baby blue jay I saved from my dog but the thing is... I’m deathly terrified of dead bugs
CherrieSky I mean if you wanna save nature, do what you have to do.

Bugs and insects or a boiled egg
@@ii_Spectre what tf do you mean it’s too late it’s either dead or flying rn
Dunno if you'll see this.
Sadly, we lost a baby scrub jay this AM. We'd had her for 8 days. She'd fallen out of her nest, was younger than Billy Boy.
My son found the general area where the nest was, but we couldn't get to it. We could hear 2 babies in it. So sad.
My parent's dog had found her. We finally gave up at dusk and brought her home, as she wouldn't have survived. Plus, their dog...
We fed her grub worms. We fed her food for Scrub Jay's (by grinding it up and adding water). I later realized that the shell of the seeds had been ground up too, so I tried picking them out.
I noticed that you fed your baby significantly less. SIGNIFICANTLY.
I also gave her wet cat food. For the last few days I was ONLY feeding her this.
I had read that everytime they open their mouth you feed them.
I was also giving her water in syringes. I gave her alot, thinking she HAD to drink.
She had diarrhea all last night. I gave her a warm bath with my shampoo, because poop had gotten stuck on her.
I kept her warm afterward.
We've been using a heat lamp at night.
She was starting to hop, so last night I kept her in bed with me, then put her back by the hotlamp..
Normally we kept her in a container that she could not get out of.
This time I purposely put her in a short wide basket. I wanted to give her the freedom to get to hop around.
Looked for her this AM.
Finally found her under a side table, deceased.
Am devastated. I really want to know what things we messed up on.
If you see this, would you mind giving me your thoughts?
I'd be very grateful. Her name waa Blueberry.
You don’t give them water. They get all the water they need from blueberry’s, crickets, worms, and various other insects. If you do give them water it’s only a drop or two max. They can drown if given too much water sadly which is a common cause of death for first time rescues. It’s our first instinct as humans to give things food and water, but fledglings do not need it because of their diet. You also have to be careful giving them moist cat food thats soaked in water because if it’s too damp that can also drown them as well.
We can only do the best we can do. Mother nature does the rest. Thanks for being kind of wildlife.
We can only do the best we can do. Mother nature does the rest. Thanks for being kind of wildlife.
@@floydwebtube not gonna to tell her the truth? She said she forced a syringe of water down its mouth, to the point it had diarrhea. That would kill a fledgling… incompetence to not at least warn people so they know not to do it again. These young birds do not drink any water for the first 3-4 weeks of their lives except in only rare medical exceptions a couple drops or so. People need to research these simple things before they do more harm than good. No excuse when you can just Google it in a couple seconds.
@@zombieepx1933 I agree with you on that.
My cat just brought one couple days ago, I started feeding him, he is doing really good he gain straight on his legs and his feathers are growing how long after I can release him and what’s the best way for him to make it to the wild life ?
I hope someone could guide me for his best 💕
If the bird is eating, just keep feeding it until it grows up and it will fly away when it can.
@@floydwebtube thanks! he is growing healthy and happy!
We have a baby scrub jay in our yard on the ground and he is staying in one area but mom & dad are still out there watching over him from our deck and tree branches and mom & dad will dive bomb you if you get too close to their baby. We were told to let him just stay where he's at but he won't move far from where he is at. We are thinking he fell out of the nest. My big question is, is mom or dad feeding him regularly even when the baby is on the ground? We see mom & dad all the time but haven't seen them feeding the baby yet but we aren't watching him constantly either. It's been 3 days now and We haven't seen the baby fly at all yet either so we think he's still too young to fly and like I said he won't move too far from where he's at. We have fixed up the area so he's shielded from the very hot sun during the day. Will he live and will mom & dad continue to take care of him while he just stays put in the same spot until he's old enough to fly? Or does he not have a chance at life since he's now on the ground?
@@TeresaMom1 So, what was the turn out?
You mentioned the feathers on top of his head. I think they use them to zero in on sounds. You turned off the music and his feathers on his head raised up. Twice.

Hi we found a nest after the landscaper cut stuff down. The tree was way to open. I realized it once one of the small eggs hatched. So pretty the bird. I covered the tree with something so the baby had shade( its been so hot in fl the baby bird want moving much) then the mama bird i think came bc it went and checked on the baby bird after i did that. Is it true they will move the baby bird to another nest. I ask bc all of them disappeared after they hatched. I got lucky to see the first baby bird. Idk if its a dove or bluejay bc the bluejays always flying and checking on the nest bwfore they were harched. Then another kind of bird i think is a dove came to it. Ty for showing about the heat. Idk that just felt like the baby bird needed some shade sense the tree was now open where its not well protected. Do u see the bluejays still? Does he visit u. I know that mught seem silly but we have so many beautiful birds here after they hatch we see them a year or more later to hatch another set of birds 😆 didnt mean to make this long. Have a wonderful great blessed day (hagwbd) 😊
Hi! We just found a baby bluejay today in our walk, now, based on your experience could you give me advice on how to help this little guy to make it?
Pia Trujillo if it is un injured and there is no immediate danger in the perimeter, probably best to just leave it where it’s at. Otherwise, my video contains the best advice I could give you.
@@floydwebtube He flew away today! we were so happy :) Thank you
my baby blue jays feather are getting croocked an looks like they in pain like they are standing up on its wings
any advise
Look for a professional Wildlife Rehabilitator/or a bird sanctuary in your area and take the bird there.
After baby billy grew up did/does he recognize you ? It would be difficult to know but do you notice that any blue birds are more friendly with you or anything? Perhaps respond to your voice or sing to that song you played ????
No, he just blended in to the wilderness and became a wild bird. Right where he belongs. Cheers!
I found a injured blue baby blue jay. A wound on the neck. I keep him warm in a box with a heating pad. I tried to feed the bird but won't open his beak. I'm concerned he might die for not eating.
I really need help on feeding him I really don't want him to die I love small creatures
You can feed them soaked dog food and water or wet cat food Since they are omnivorous birds
@@Ros_iel oh ok I fed him soaked seeds and raisins
What cage is that? I've been looking for one similar. Thanks!
I think the company of water from was called kings cages.

If any body can help me I have a baby blue jay and can’t figure out what to feed it to start the weaning process
Who down votes this? Anyway thank you
Right? Thank you! Cheers!
Mother and sister took a baby jay from the ground and want to keep it in a cage until it grows up, because of the threat of cats who sometimes visit the area where we found it. I tell them to leave it back there, they say it's too dangerous. What is better to do?
geta grip A Bluejay won’t be able to survive in a cage. It needs to learn to forage and eventually to fly. Just as in my video, see if you can get other adult Blue Jays interested in it. Take it outside where are other Blue Jays are, and supervise the baby so the cats can’t get it. Probably where you found it would be best. Good luck.
