  • Hey everyone, I've seen many people commenting on my 2018 Lincoln Continental Review saying its to bad Lincoln is not selling all that great. Well here's my thoughts on WHY!!!

Vehicles filmed at Dealerships are For Sale. Make sure to visit the dealerships website for detail info about each vehicle. If your watching a video thats older than 90 days you can expect that vehicle to most likely already being sold, unless its a new car.
FYI - Charleston Car Videos on CZcams Started in 2011. Back in 2008 is when I started filming cars as a car salesman to give people a better way to see a new or used vehicle. Over the years I ended up selling over 450 vehicles from doing videos. Today 1000's of vehicles have sold from people watching my car reviews in America.

I've been driving Lincoln exclusively since 1990. I think. the problem that Lincoln has lies not with its vehicles, but with its marketing. They just dont advertise like the other luxury car companies do. Having Matthew McConaughey as a spokesman is ok, but get some more commercials out there!!! I'll never drive anything but a Lincoln....but they have to get their advertising in order!!!

Agree one hundred and ten percent, it's all about the marketing of the brand. Come on Lincoln let's get with the program. Even if you have to shut down some of your stores to make it happen. The Ford Taurus is also a great vehicle that is underestimated and under advertised. Ford made a huge mistake by making the Taurus a fleet vheicle for the police force which cheapened its luxury worth. Redisgn the thing and bring it back on the market.

As a Lincoln owner, this car is not selling because its too small!!!! Needs to be the same size as the Town car with an optional extended wheel base. This is a flagship for goodness sake! In order to complete with German and Japanese rivals it needs to have an option to extend the rear seating area to compete in this segment. Every reviewer says the same thing. Cadillac messed up the CT6 doing the exact same thing. Its a flagship car which translates to big, roomy, comfortable, powerful. Also, it needs to come standard with a V8 and at least a 10 speed transmission. Thirdly, Lincoln is a luxury brand! Treat it as such. Why is Lincoln paired with Ford cars all under one dealership. Please separate the brand! You don't see Lexus and Toyota's together or Infiniti with Nissan or Mercedes with Chrysler BMW with Rolls Royce! You are exactly right! The brands need to be separated. Lincoln sells will boom if they follow this advice. As a Lincoln loyal I'm more open to other brands because Lincoln has stopped giving me what I need and want from a flagship sedan. The Town Car and Continental were famous for these exact reasons! Awesome brand. I love this brand so much which is why I have remained brand loyal. I'll continue to own my Town Cars because they give me what I want in a flagship. THEY NEED THEIR OWN ROOFTOP!!! Desperately! Hard to buy American when the German and Japanese rivals are just doing it better.

The newer 2017 and up Lincolns looks so grown and sexy! 😍😍😍
It’s all about a brands cachet though. If a brand is seen as more luxurious or upscale, people are sheep and will follow the herd. That’s why despite the reliability issues with BMWs, people STILL buy them, because of the brands cachet. Lincoln, Buick, even Cadillac (to an extent) have fallen from their grace, and are seen as relics almost. But think about it, if you have a Conty you’re going to have a sense of exclusivity, because you’re probably be the only one driving one. 😎

Agree 100% with this. When purchasing a luxury vehicle. Spending luxury money you want the entire luxury experience. I know Lincoln provides this with there black label line. But that is only at Lincoln dealerships that are black label certified. The whole perception when purchasing a luxury vehicle should be better. This is why i honestly stopped looking at Lincoln. And i am not pursuing a genesis. Imagine lexus vehicles being sold out of toyota. Good video btw.

It's a nice looking car and seems to have great reviews. It's got to be better than the high maintenance 2004 XJR Jaguar that is back in the shop again after only one week getting it out! So the front door delivery anywhere you choose, with a fee of course,v gaurantee of 7 days or $250 test miles, how can you go wrong?
My wife also took the vehicle to our mechanic for a full inspection and he said the vehicle was a super nice clean car. Nothing wrong with it at all. So, I don't think you should have anything to worry about purchasing a car from them with that kind of guarantee.

The reason is that Lincoln needs to differentiate itself from Ford more. The MKZ for instance is basically a Ford Fusion. I also think the cars like Continental are not large enough to be flagship cars. They are small interior. Look at an A8, S550, Lexus LS...they have substantial interiors and they are flagships. The Lincoln brand has nice features in the Continental and the interior is nice, but it doesnt make an impression. People who want to spend that kind of money want a stunner , not a dressed up Ford.

I agreed when buy a Lincoln mkz you're basically buying an overpriced Ford. Look at what people talk about Mercedes, Audi's, BMW's, Lexus (although not as much but they still sell) these cars are up to date. You don't see anybody bragging about getting a new mkz that's a car you get when you're at Enterprise and you booked a reservation for a premium.

CCV TV, the reason Cadillac outsells Lincoln is because of the livery market Cadillac has and Lincoln had reduced its fleets sale by half of what Cadillac has done in the past; however, the Cadillac XTS counted for half of what Cadillac sales were because of the livery market, and Cadillac heavily discounted the Escalade when the Navigator debuted in 2017 with an offer up to $10k off MSRP from the Escalade.

It's because the eco turbo 4 cyl engines they are putting in these Lincolns are underpowered. They don't last either. I have a 2006 Lincoln ls with a v8 in it. I love it. Everyone who has been in it wants to buy it from me. I even lost a friendship over it. I know really but true. Ford/Lincoln bought Jaguar n 2005 and put a V8 Jaguar engine in my Lincoln. Who would have thought but now I know why people buy Jaguars. This engine is amazing!!! I was looking for a used car for a while and hated everything. When I got in the LS I fell in love. The government is putting pressure on the car industry to get more gas mileage on the larger cars and it's just not want the consumer wants. People who drive bigger cars and trucks want power and want the engine to hold up over time. Who cares about gas mileage. I'd buy a pruis if I wanted an eco car. Ford and Lincoln need to go back to the larger V6's and V8's and they will sell. If you ever get a chance to test drive an older Lincoln LS you will understand. You will fall in love with the power and how it rides. It's amazing.

More and more people that can afford a luxury car are going electric these days. Tesla is steamrolling the competition in the Luxury category with a model 3 outselling everything by a wide margin. A sedan is performing better than all those luxury suvs just shows that people do want efficient/low maintenance cars. Unfortunately for most of these brands they are years behind when it comes to any charging network that Tesla is slowly expanding all over the planet.

People want SUV's and crossovers. Cars in general aren't selling well, unless it's Audi, BMW, or Mercedes. The Navigator is selling really well. The Navigator has to be ordered and last I knew it was an extremely long wait. You have to keep in mind that the Navigator revived Lincoln and brought attention to the brand again. Lincoln needs to change if they want to sell cars and SUVs like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes does. I agree, they need their own dealership but they need a lot more than that.

I sold Lincolns for 21 years. I have been selling Cadillacs for the last 5 years. The reason Lincoln doesn't sell as many cars as Cadillac has nothing to do with the product. It is like Upper management and workers. Cadillac seems to be White Collar Republicans and Lincoln is Blue Collar Democrats. I sell to a lot of CEO's in Cadillac but in Lincoln I sold to Farmers. It is the same way with SIlverado vs F150. I have rarely ever seen Ford buyers with Ford tattoos but I see "Heartbeat" tattoos all the time. I am in Myrtle Beach and it seems the same everywhere.

Lincoln also screwed up when they let the Town Car die on the vine. They went close to a decade with a rock solid reliable car that had high fleet sales and a cult following. They didn’t add higher quality materials over time and updated reliable technology. They let it die out in 2011 or 12 and didn’t put a RWD/AWD car in the lineup to replace it. Lincoln need a luxury long wheel base flagship with a V8 to replace the Town Car. Even if it was a 25k unit a year vehicle (it would have likely been double that easily). The best selling luxury cars are BMW & Mercedes (not Cadillac) both of those brands have a flagship LWB rear/AWD sedan at the top of their offerings. Lastly how about marketing your products!!!

Back in the day Lincoln luxury was at it's best I know this because my dad had a 91 Town Car for seven years, but now the price of new Lincoln I can just get an Audi A4, A6, or even get a new VW Arteon and have more tech and comfort. Lincoln should've had a performance line the other competitors got otherwise Lincoln would still be keeping their cars. Unfortunately in this day and age Lincoln is yesterday's news.

I love mine but that 6 cylinder engine, even though turbocharged, sounds more like a house fan or a vacuum heater. It sounds WEAK~! How friggin STUPID were the people who designed this not to just use a 302. They would have sold as fast as they could make them & it would have been a MUCH betterr engine. The people who designed the power train seemed to have done it as an afterthought, so caught up were they in the bells & whistles.

I owned a 2010 Cadillac CTS, it was a fantastic driving car, but a horrible ownership experience, I never had a vehicle with so many problems in such a short space of time, and it didn't have high miles either, I spent thousands on it, finally got it working, properly, and sold before I was completely broke, not to mention that the resale value was devastating "kick in the balls". Biggest purchase blunder ever, lost thousands....GM is incapable of making reliable vehicles anymore, their older trucks and suvs were fantastic, amazing value for money, the new equipment, however is plagued with electrical problems, and mechanical failure. Sad because their engineering division is very good, but the problem lies in the budgeting department, good designs are compromised by cheap components and insufficient testing...Ford is not much better, go Japanese or just ride the bus, and save yourself from the torment of chasing an imaginary unicorn of domestic car brands that will never be built to last.

Our GM dealers were Chevy alone, Pontiac/Buick and Oldsmobile /Cadillac/GMC. Then a change came where Cadillac went to Chevrolet and the Pontiac/Buick went to the GMC lot and Olds was killed off and now with Pontiac gone it’s just Buick GMC.
Cadillac has it’s own building on the back corner of the Chevy store.
Now our Lincoln is Lincoln/Mazda so those fellas can make money selling Mazda. A friend just told me that he heard online that Lincoln wants their stores to be stand-alone. So I don’t know if Mazda would move to the Kia/Mitsubishi store (too small already) or to the already cramped Ford dealer.
There is rumor that Ford will move in the future but there’s no sign yet.

    @ksorsomeplace Před 5 lety +1

I think a number of things are holding it back.
    1. Too pricy for standard equipment. You have to go back in time a bit, but the previous MKS had a rear sunshade standard, auto-dimming rearview mirror standard, heated and cooled seats standard, rain-sensing wipers standard and so forth. The current 2018 Premiere trim does not and you can't get optionally.
    2. Too much shared equipment with Fusion/MKZ. Engines, transmissions, and other platform items. Not really much is uniquely Lincoln. Why the high price for the same 3.7 V6 and 6-speed automatic?
    3. Poor configuration. They charge a ridiculous $335 for a cd player. To get the LED headlights, that are now standard on cars costing a lot less, you must cough up $3,995 for the luxury package. In the first year of production this package cost $5,000! It includes the $335 cd player, the LED headlights, and the upgraded sound system. On certain models, Audi for example, charges $850 for LED headlights and $3,200 for an option package that includes them as well as 8 or so other items.
    4. The highest priced moonroof in the biz. $1,750 for it. I know now other vehicle besides Lincoln that charges more. Poor value.
    5. Restricted by trim options. It has been in the past a hallmark of U.S. cars that you could get some options without having to get the highest trim level possible. Not so. Those LED headlights: only available on the Reserve Trim. There's even a summer tire package, but it requires the Tech package at $4,250! What do summer tires have to do with the Tech package???
    6. A 6-speed transmission when the competition frequently has 8-speeds or more. The Lincoln Nautilus has the 8-speed and LED headlights standard, however the 2019 Lincoln Continental DOES NOT. It is very, very expensive to get the LED headlights and not possible at all to get the 8-speed transmission.
    This is just for starters....

    • @ksorsomeplace
      @ksorsomeplace Před 5 lety

@@alvinrawlings8916 I would disagree. They fixed some items, but at additional cost. You have to take into account that some of this stuff was standard on the base package 2011 MKS and is now only available optionally via the Reserve trim. A huge price increase.
      SELECT Trim:
      2018 BASE: $49,955.00 AWD
      2019 BASE: $51,945.00 AWD
      Increase: $1,990.00
      Extra Standard Equipment:
      BLIS W/Cross Traffic Alert
      Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go
      Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror
      Rain-Sensing Wipers
      Auto High Beam Headlamps
Pre-Collision Assist w/ Automatic Emergency Braking
Cost of 2018 Select Package: $1,255.00
This year no Navigation as part of Select.
Nav cost on other Ford Products: $795.00
      Difference: $460.00.
Cost increase: $1,530.00 (5 items additionally standard, but note Climate Package cost)
Customer lost again. No extra value. It is a price increase effectively.
      Climate Package:
      Last year: $850.00
      2019: $795.00
      Climate Package Items Now Standard:
      Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror
      Rain-Sensing Wipers
      Auto High Beam Headlamps
      Losing 3 items: $55.00
No value for the customer on this change.
      Powertrain:
2.7 V6 no longer optional on SELECT.
Loss of choice for customer and effectively greatly increased product cost for customer if chosen as an option.
Still NO upgrade of automatic transmission. Not competitive with other market offerings.
      LED Headlamps:
No change here. Still optional AND only on the Reserve at VERY HIGH cost: $3,995.00
      Interior:
Still no other color choices beside Black and Cappuccino. It's a very highly priced car. I expect some options for color other than 2!
      This is artificially restricted.
      Trunk Hinges:
Still the same old gooseneck design. Again, it is a very highly price car and no difference than the run of the mill vehicle.
      Weight:
It's still heavy. In looking at Cadillac CT6, which weighs considerably less, this is cost cutting pure and simple. No innovation.
      Fuel Economy:
No competitive with other V6 luxury cars. Period. Again, this a very highly priced car. I want something better than what I had in 2009.
      Price:
      Not competitive.
This partly based on that fact that all the heavy hardware (engine, transmission, AWD, and platform) are shared. So, it comes down to body sheetmetal and interior. The price is HIGH.
$1,750 for a panoramic moonroof???? This is, I think, the highest price in the industry outside of the MKZ's retractable glass roof!
      Luxury Features:
Lacking: $335.00 for a CD-player. Make it standard at NO additional charge.
Lacking: $120.00 for all weather floor liners. Make them standard at NO additional charge.
Lacking: $---.00 a donut for a spare tire. Provide a full-size tire with matching rim (The VW CC did this and was less than $35,000)
Lacking: $3,995.00 for LED headlamps. Make them standard at NO additional charge. A VW Jetta has them standard. Again, why pay so much for less? Only $850.00 on certain Audi's! The whole option package for more than just LED headlamps, cD-Player, and Revel Audio is only $3,200 on certain Audi's. The VALUE here is terribly lacking. It's not compelling.
