Il docu-film di Jean-Paul Janssen Opéra Vertical, fa conoscere l'arrampicata al grande pubblico ed elevai climber a eroi moderni sprezzanti del rischio e della morte, una visione dell'arrampicata sicuramente lontana dal modo moderno di vedere l'arrampicata focalizzato sul gesto e sulla prestazione ma in assoluta sicurezza. Nei filmati Edlinger arrampica in free solo a Buoux e sulle pareti delle gole del Verdon

True, he respected the cliff. Today am a bit put off by the new climbers that have way more technical skills but they scream, shout, breath loudly when they climb... :-( His Climbs without any rope are insanely beautiful @24:32 omg.

amazing movie! watched it many times. Climbing in the 70s and 80s inspires me so much. those climbers were real badass heroes

elegant, no plastic climbing gymns, almost allways vertical ... Today climbing is more a demonstration of force in allmaost allways overhangs ... (In my opinion overhangs aren't natural for the human body and mind).
but i don't like when nie climbers do solo.
Why ? For what ? it feels a bit strange for me and it makes me afraid reverse.

La mort pratique parfois l'humour noir : En l'attrapant au vol après une chute dans un escalier, elle semble sanctionner ironiquement celui qui l'a si souvent trompée... Adieu Patrick. Tu fus la première légende masculine française d'escalade et tu restes présent dans le coeur de très nombreuses personnes.

Edlinger arrive apres d autres grandes legendes françaises. Pays pionnier, et on ne démérite pas avec 2 podiums aux mondiaux de bloc masculin hier et 2 qualifiés en finale en ce moment meme !
