- The second volume of Ocean Dread comprises five nightmarish narratives set at sea, each, with the exception of Hodgson's 'The Mystery of the Derelict', carefully selected from the ever-yellowing
0:00:00 - Introduction
0:00:28 - The Harbor of Ghosts
"The Harbor of Ghosts" by M. J. Bardine, first appeared in Weird Tales Magazine in June 1936. The magazine described the tale as follows: "A strange and curious weird tale of the sea, and the ghosts of ships that had foundered..."
0:21:40 - The Mystery of the Derelict
"The Mystery of the Derelict" by William Hope Hodgson, was published in the July 1907 edition of The Story-Teller. As the title suggests, the story tells of a mysterious derelict, and of the danger it poses to the crew of an unsuspecting merchant vessel.
0:53:52 - The Jonah
"The Jonah" by Guy Pain, first surfaced in Weird Tales in its August 1925 edition. It tells of a disreputable bosun, and a murder, with a touch of maritime superstition.
1:05:34 - Bells of Oceana
"Bells of Oceana" by Arthur J. Burks, was first published in the December 1927 edition of Weird Tales. The story tells of an encounter with something deadly in the uncharted waters of the North Pacific.
1:40:22 - The Man Who Was Saved
"The Man Who Was Saved" by B. W. Sliney, first appeared in Weird Tales in May 1926. In the story, the sole survivor of a wrecked ship tells of a terrifying encounter with a mysterious sea creature.

Listening from the uk wales ❤️
Can't wait to give this a listen while repainting some old end tables! Thanks for all your efforts, it's greatly appreciated! Cheers all!
Sounds like fun!
Amazing name
You can't beat a good mermaid story ❤️
Excellent score
Ship stories are best.
I heard an Irish/Antarctica ghost story years ago about a ship’s carpenter.
I don’t know the name , and can’t find it anywhere.
It was about a ship that went to Antarctica and among the 12 who went to shore , they kept counting 13 but couldn’t find the 13th individual. It was really strange
Sounds intriguing.
That sounds similar to the Korean film R-Point. I loved the premise.

It was so well told , subtle and strange. Told by an Irish ship carpenter after retirement, about an expedition team . Told in 1960s about the 1910 era
I can’t find it
Iv tried everything
The details about shadows and noises as the team start becoming aware that something was going on was really good.
I needed this on this very stressful day. Thanks
Hope the rest of your day is relaxing and stress free!👍
Me too. Namaste
A great way to unwind after a tough day!🥱 thanks so much Ian Jen and team!!!!!🙂👍👍👍
Listening once again in Utah this week.
Oh teller of tales, your readings are to die for, excellent presentation as always Sir!!!🙏👍👻
Good stories!! Thanks!
I love all of these, especially "The Mystery of the Derelict." This retired sailor can tell Hodgson was one as well. He uses the correct terms, and jargon and his characters talk like sailors.
"The Jonah" hints at how sailors like pipe and chewing tobacco.
Thanks!!
Great stories and narration of some classic tales of the last age. Thanks Horrorbabble! 🇦🇺👍😎
I know what I'm falling asleep to this week
Well, that rescued man certainly was the luckiest unluckiest person indeed.
Now afternoon is complete. Ocean Dread a pipe and a cool drink. 💀
😎🍺👍
Horrorbabble and Haunted Bookshop or a bowl of Innsmouth has been my pleasure.

I enjoyed the second story but it had too much nautical jargon.
