Dan Quinn was hired based on his floor, not his ceiling. After almost 3 decades of suffering fans, You would Love to hit a homerun with the coach but you CAN'T miss. The QB and OC and GM are all more important thaN the HC for Washington right now anyway. Besides, payers seem to love Quinn, so he's a good choice to launch "a new franchise". Keeping the players motivated and together matters. A lot.

Agreed , and it's mostly coming from older people thinking of the nfl of the 1970s. The nfl has changed a lot since casserly has employed by a team. Look around the league , there's a dozen or more teams with head coaches who are NOT fire and brimstone Vince Lombardi leaders....they are strategists. One of them is coaching in next weeks super bowl in fact. If quinn gets out coached and they lose, at least he's a "leader" ...just like the last guy.

You know, statistically, based on the amount of graduating college players. There just has to be a certain number of players that never get picked. Never try out as walk-ons or whatever. That could have ended up being great players, if not hall of fame players. Some of these graduates at the time aren't really "men" yet. When for some of them are late to bloom, and they reach that "MAN" stage. They're different than they were just out of college. A whole nother level. I'm just saying that out of 5000 kid's undrafted or doesn't even try to make the nfl. 100 of them could have or would have been all-pro caliber players. They just fall through the cracks. How do you find those is the key. Like Darryl Green for instance. Who finds these guys? How do you find these guys? To me, that's the lightning in a bottle.

FIT would have more to do with draft expectations.
If a coach says "I want my guy" then it does not work if you are a rebuilding team. Replacing the QB is not rebuilding. Rebuilding is an all-over process.
A "my guy" coach wants to draft a qb at 2. A rebuilding GM wants to trade down that pick several times to move from 5 picks in top 100 to 9. By trading down 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 to 6 you accumulate 1.6, 2.34, 2,35, 3,69, and 3.70.
Then you may also trade away accomplished players for picks, such as two top-100s for MacLaurin and same for Allen.
Peters SAID he wants to rebuild using the draft. I think he MEANT it.
Also I think replacing the qb is a drawing-card move that Snyder would have done. If we draft a qb at #2 we never got rid of Snyder.

I disagree to an extent. Wasn't Frank Reich supposed to a good coach and leader of men? He got canned partially because Bryce Young didn't improve and was a disaster during the season. But obviously Charley is a legend so he knows more than all the rest of the fans combined.

If you were the hottest coaching candidate this coaching cycle, would you choose the franchise with no starting quarterback, no stadium deal, an outdated practice facility? Yes, we have the 2nd pick in the draft but a young coach could get fired waiting for a quarterback to develop. Yes, we have $80M in cap space but there’s no guarantee we’ll sign the most coveted free agents. I’m a fan too but it’s easier to understand when you walk a mile in a coaching prospect’s shoes. Most of these guys are relocating their families to parts of the country that are unfamiliar. That’s not an easy decision when you love the community where you currently live.

I don’t agree with Charlie, you can turn around a football team in a year if you draft smart, get a QB and a pass rusher. Look at the Texans, the 49ers etc.
