Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/425k5rG
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/3WEuz0k
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv

I always write from an emotional state when I write. It doesn't matter whether it's lyrics, poems or a play/script. Sometimes it's sadness in which case I usually write songs or poems, sometimes I'm happy and want to write something light hearted and funny, sometimes it turns into dark humor. It all depends on what I'm into writing at the time.
Well, I'd never considered inserting my emotional state or problems into my work really... But I guess the whole point is that I should, or should start a story where there's room for that. Very interesting.
Then what is the point of your work in the first place? You need to at least understand where the conflict is coming from, movies aren't just plots to stare at, they're windows into the perspective of different people on different topics. It's like writing an essay about depression when you yourself have never had depression or care about it.
@@philswiftreligioussect9619 let's just say my depression doesn't strike me as very useful to my spy thriller, but I see how it could be harnessed elsewhere lol
@@turntoyou you could use depression for your work as a metaphor or maybe tell your story from the perspective of a depressed main character. That might be beneficial. And of course, you could harness it elsewhere if it still doesn`t suit the story.
@@turntoyou Progress--even a little progress--will lift you out of your depression over time. Then you can use the *memory* of it in your work. My bod's of the "old and busted" type, and I use every experience I've had as a tool in my writing.
The inner movie method sounds wonderful. Thank you, Ms. Viki King. The heart wants what the heart wants.
How do you like this one?
This one I really like. I feel like a lot of the stuff I write feels soulless. This will really help me out.
How? Because I appreciate insightful videos, that’s how. Lol
It's great, need to hear this more often. Innumerable inspiring writers try to imitate certain Director's dialogue, instead of creating from their own heart and voice.
Agree and disagree with her ( to use anxiety while writing); depends how serious/deep your anxiety affects your mind. Question of anxiety and emotions control ;-)
OMG! 28 years ago I found this book and it works! I was in the trades today for a tv series I created! Thank you Viki King!
In a way she gives me David Lynch vibes❤ love her so much! Thank you for the stimulating interview 🙏💯
This is true. I agree with her.
I love this segment!
HEART = TRUTH
Okay, this is good. Very good. Here are my observations to observations.
A few days ago, our content creator asked about inciting incident which normally is external event & the inner movie method has to be clear with quality philosophical question.
- the difference of any screen wring is quality & an okay'sh script has just 2 dimensions but inner movie method will have more than 3 dimensions. One - 3rd level audience involvement with objectivity. Two - emotional intelligence of major characters & three - thematic dimension which answers quality of philosophical question at set-up
- she gave example of phone booth..I'll give example of 'the terminal' that Tom Hanks / Spielberg film
Lastly, inner movie method gives freedom but take it from me that after 5 rewrites, only then the thematic approach gets clear of clutter & to arrive there, minimum 5 rewrites will happen because of premise, philosophical question & climax.
Id suggest everyone to explore this aspect of inner method because it has more scope for creativity & it's going to test writer's patience but if done well - it's that kind of script or material that becomes outstanding with specifics where (after 5 or more rewrites) the more specific you are, the more universal your work output becomes.

The ❤️ is deceitful.
I, too, agree with the Bible, but the Bible does not always speak of that prone-to-deception aspect of the heart. For instance, we can look at our hearts to see what is in them, that is, that which will show itself. An example of the Bible using heart to mean our inmost being, but not emphasizing our fallenness, our aptitude for deceiving ourselves: "with the heart man believes unto righteousness...". Obviously, this is not satmying that we believe wuth our hearts in order todeceyve oursekves, but the opposite I f self-deception. Then, we are trying to find sincerity, and we're basically rejecting all the decitful stuff our hearts might churn up or accept. So the heart also represents sincerity, and the reason it can be so deceived is the same reason the dirt ends up at the drain. Becayse thereis no other place for sincerity to be, insincerity and self-deception end up there, too.. There are other positive mentions of the heart. For instance, we must forgive "from the heart". We can't manage it of ourselves, or because our hearts are good, but God wants them to be cleansed of unforgiveness, and it is the heart that is cleansed when we do forgive. Another is "a merry heart doeth good, like a medicine".
I don't know how
