  • In this talk, based on the 6th chapter of Vidyarana's Panchadasi, Swami
Sarvapriyananda first explains Vedanta using the analogy of a painting and artist. From 28.42 onwards he goes on to give a lucid discourse on the subtle questions and answers (found at the end of the 6th chapter) between a master and an advanced disciple. These questions and answers, he says, will be especially appreciated by those who have been in Vedanta for some time.
    ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT VEDANTA NY
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Swami Turiananda demonstrated these two "I"s when he was being operated upon without using anesthesia.
Before operation ,he told the doctor to operate upon just after 5minutes.The doctor did accordingly & Swamiji did not show any sign of pain. The doctor that day thought ,he can withstand even severe pain.
Another day ,Swamiji needed to be again operated upon ,the doctor just put knife in the operated area & started operating, Swami cried out in pain & shouted ,"it's painful" .The doctor surprisingly asked ,but that day you didn't feel any pain !!
Swamiji replied, that day I dissociated mind from the body ,today it was not the case ,so I felt the pain.
Bidyaranya Swami ,told the disciple & through him to all of us to live in the world ,but to dissociate the real I from the ego I .Only then ,all will feel the continuous flow of bliss ,although the world may throw obstacles after obstacles!

...A young man sadly asked Sri Ramakrishna: "Sir, how can I get rid of lust? I strive so hard, still I suffer from restlessness due to passion and bad thoughts.”
Sri Ramakrishna: "... Do you think I am free from it? At one time I believed that I had conquered lust. Then one day when I was seated in the Panchavati, I suddenly had such an onrush of lust that it was hard for me to maintain control! Immediately I began crying, rubbing my face in the dust, and saying to the Divine Mother: “I have made a big mistake, Mother. I shall never again think that I have conquered lust.' Only then did it subside. Do you know, you boys are now passing through a flood tide of adolescence? You can't stop it. Can an embankment or a breakwater stop a tidal wave? The overflowing water breaks through and rushes forward, and then the water stands as high as a bamboo over the paddy fields. There is a saying, 'Mental sin is not considered to be a sin in this Kaliyuga.' If a bad thought happens to arise once or twice in the mind, why should you go on brooding about it? Sometimes those feelings come and go. They are natural to the body; consider them to be physical functions like the call of nature. Do people worry when they have an urge for the call of nature? Similarly, consider those feelings to be insignificant, trifling, and worthless, and don't think of them anymore. Pray to God intensely, chant His name, and meditate on Him. Don't pay any heed to whether those feelings come or go. Gradually, they will come under control." ...
And from Tripura Rahasya published by Ramana Ashram
109-12. The vasanas not inimical to realisation are not weeded out by the best class of Jnanis because they cannot seek new ones to crowd the old out. Therefore the old ones continue until they are exhausted and thus you find among them some highly irritable, some lustful and others pious and dutiful, and so on
