This is the best Corries song for me,when I was a young boy my father played this to me,it was the first time I'd heard the Combolins and was instantly mesmorised.I had this played at my father's funeral 2 years ago and will have it played at mine when I die.Thank you mandolina6 for all the songs you have put up on youtube for everyone to experience,it's fantastic to know that more and more people are realising the magic and beauty of The Corries.

What a beautiful tribute. My father also I produced me to The Corries, and while it's hard for me to pick my most favourite, this song might just be it. Such an otherworldly sound to it. Truly as if you are stepping from one world I to the next. Many blessings.

When I first heard this song I was 13 watching Tumbledown - an amazing film. I've always sung the song to my self and have only just discovered this original recording.
An amazing version that has truely influenced me. Thank you.

It's the 40th anniversary of The Falklands War, I was 28 at the time. Saw Tumbledown, the BBC play in 1988 based on Robert Lawrence MC memoirs. The end credit music is this song played by The Corries. This beautiful lullaby haunted me then and because of the 40th anniversary documentary, I'm listening to it again in 2022. This beautiful lullaby still haunts me and will remain with me forever.

I agree. I'm a veteran of Iraq & Afghan, the film and this music touched me in ways I can't explain. The Corries are brilliant; Sally Free and Easy is another military touch.

Hush, O babe, while the red bee hums
    The silent twilight’s fall:
Aibheall from the Grey Rock comes
To wrap the world in thrall.
A leanbhan O, the pale moon
Hath brimmed her cusp in dew,
And weeps to hear the sad sleep-tune
I sing, O love, to you.
Dusk is drawn, and the Green Man’s Thorn
Is wreathed in rings of fog:
Siabhra sails his boat till dawn
    Among the Starry Bog.
A leanbhan O, my child, my joy
    My love and heart’s desire,
    The crickets sing his lullaby
    Beside the dying fire.
