They don't speak English but it doesn't mean that they cannot speak English. English is not our mother tongue moreover when comes to policing its totally different. I knew those officer who were committed to work and serve our Motherland

Word without work is meaningless.Speaking fluent english without good service is also meaningless.But providing service with dedication is the most important than speaking in english or other well known recognised languages....

English is the epitome of global language in a globalising world. It's always better than good to have a fluent and pleasant command over English as educated Nagas if any.
If you're such that your vision is only focussed on your region, that's more than fine. However, to play your part in this fast-paced environment of modern world , English is a must.
We Nagas really need to work on our english vocabulary and speaking skills. I have seen many educated people, yet lacks in speaking verbally, therefore giving more confidence and importance in writing itself. And of course, we too need to preserve and employ our mother language as well, but i don't think there's any harm in trying to implement ourselves with further academic progress.👍
English is not necessary in order to become a public servent 👍

working on English won't create bring a change in the society n more over being in a ggov service the main objective is to serve the common people of Nagaland n we don't need English language to communicate with them instead we need to speak nagamese or own local dialect so no need to b strict or work on English for smooth functioning of one's own society of it's not a English speaking country as their mother tongue

Mostly language it's depends on environment situation as I have seen some of shillong texi driver they're illiterate un educated but they're english speaking is much better than me

About for me is the language of english is also one of the foreigners language like the nagamese dialegts. So i just wanna say that we need to know this language but if we directly thinks about it. We just need to know the skills of job and responsibility it's one of the most important of what we are doing at present. I've seen More of the police man not follow the job rules like trafic police, petrolin police and thana police. Specially thana Police use to smoke in office in front of victims. 😊

The whole problem lies with the education system. Issue is we are exposed to written English rather than the spoken one. One does not need to be an MA in English to speak it properly but to get exposed to the language and use it regularly so that one can get away from the pull of the mother tongue and the constant translation that is happening at the back of our mind every time one speaks English.

@@jacck7 please note that English is the official language of Nagaland. Our entire educational life were have been thought in English. If English is a secondary language than i would definitely say that Nagamese is only a third language which is also an unrecognised language
