I love your art, I am not an artist but this is something I could do and be an artist.. lol What kind of paper, book do you use?
Thanks, Linda! I hear "I am not an artist" from soooo many people. I used to be one of those people too. I believe everyone is an artist. But, some of us didn't learn how to create art when we were young, curious, and things came easily to us. It's like learning a new language as an adult. Learning may take longer, but with good instruction and practice, you'll get there! This is an Etchr Watercolor Journal amzn.to/3v99lIc. Happy creating!
@@NotableInk What an excellent answer. I’m never sure what people mean when they say, “I’m not an artist.” I hear it all the time too. Do they mean that MOMA isn’t seeking out their work? Or is it that what they create doesn’t quite match what they envision? That’s true for every artist, which is why we work. And keep working for those rare occasions when what we create with our hands exceeds what our minds imagined.
Best thing I ever did for my artist heart was learning to find fulfillment in the process. I’m not saying it’s easy. It isn’t because we’re paid for the outcomes and our artistic merit is judged on the outcomes. But it is in the experience of making that our souls are honed. I suppose this is true of any human endeavor. It’s an eternal conundrum.
Maybe it is easier to label oneself a maker? Whatever an artist chooses to call themselves I hope they don’t give up the process because of a lack of external validation. My best days leave me spattered with paint, ink stained fingernails, and who knows what smeared on my face. The admiration of others feels good for a bit, but it never feels as good as being fully engrossed in the process.
@@rtd1791 Amazing reply and I couldn't agree more! A couple of my stamps sets include "enjoy the process" and "mistakes are merely opportunities for new discovery". I'm so inspired by your response and I'd love to use a few of your phrases in a future stamp set. Would that be okay?
You can do more than you think. And don’t think artist, do what comes to mind and make you feel happy or at peace! It’s the process ore than the results that counts for most. Go have fun and enjoy yourself.
@@NotableInk Yes, though in truth I’m not sure what you mean. Yes, anyway.
I’m going to look up your designs now.
This showed up on CZcams homepage today and what a delight.
Excellent video. Thank you, Amber.
My favorite gold is Daniel Smith Gold Gesso (which is acrylic). Yes, it's pricey, but a little bit goes a l-o-n-g way!
I love the elements that you have combined on this one!
Really cool looking! I have never done zentangle and you are right…white pages can be daunting! I will have to try the gelli print like you did.
Watching you create Amber is like walking through a door into a fantasy world where the normal rules and constraints don’t apply and imagination and freedom take centre stage. I appreciate however that you say a blank page is intimidating hence why you start with the gel print and let that lead you to the next stage. Absolutely fascinating to walk with you and emerge at the other end with a wonderful piece of art. Thank you so very much for sharing! 😘❤️
Orla, your comment is magical and evokes the freedom of childhood. Thank you! The blank page is mighty and must be conquered. Happy creating!
LOVE your birds!
Gorgeous
Stunning
Wow, I love this idea, can't wait to try it out tomorrow!
Fascinating!
Wow! This is next level for me!
I love the zentangle with the type of art u do. The cards nd stamping I'm not into but you do great that it makes me interested in it.
Thanks very much, Jessica! I'll be sure to keep doing a mix of techniques for journals and cards.
I like what your doing. Thank you
Extreeme shein 24k gold is awesome!!
Beautiful!
Love these 2 pages, xxxxx ❤
Excellent tips and techniques!
These both are so cool.. gorgeous 😊
Stumbled upon thus video. Fabulous work TYFS I subscribed immediately. Kate in New York 😊
Thanks so much, I'm so glad you liked it!
As the old adage goes "You learn something new every day" but I learned much more than one thing here. For a start I'd never heard of gel tangling - fascinating. Then lots more yummy stuff too, all combining to create a wonderfully creative escape into a beautiful world.
Love your video. Thanks for sharing your art👍👏🏻2/10/23
Wow, Amber!! You surpassed your extremely high standards again…'gel-tangling’…Catchy, I love!!
Thanks so much, Gwen!

Wow wow wow! Just discovered your channel and I love these pages. X
I like that each spread has a consistent color scheme
Thank you!
Amazing ❤
Thanks!
Lovely
Love it
I love watching you create in your art journal! The way you used the washi tape is genius! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity.
If you want a wonderful watercolor gold…it would be Star gold from Kremer
🤩🤩🤩
Brilliant
I LOVE the washi over the flower petals! So neat!
Beautiful work ..love it. New subscriber . Thank you for sharing. Moira .❤
Great tuto! 🎉 thank you.
Love the washi tape flowers!
Learnt something new today thank you
I'm so glad I discovered you today! Beautiful work, excellent instruction!
Love this…thank you…
You're so welcome, Karen, and thank you!
WOW! What a gorgeous pair of pages. I just love how you used the washi to "colour" your flowers. Love love love!
Thanks, Janis! Great to see you here. I hope you're doing well!
You knocked it out of the park again Amber! This is nothing i could ever think of doing myself, but somehow you always come up with designs that just speak to me. You inspire me again and agin. Thankn you.
Thank you very much! I
Do hope you’ll give it a whirl. Happy creating!
Love these two pages - especially the use of washi tape on the right for great effect! I have never thought of using it in that way. Will definitely look at my washi tapes with a whole new eye! Thank you!
Thanks, Terry! It's my first time as well. There are sooooo many ways to use washi tape!
Love this work! So different from what I’ve been watching, so therefore inspiring!👍
Great video….love how you talk about your process as you go.
Thank you for the walk thru of your art journal! I've started one but I'm just not consistent and do want to make it habit/treat for myself. The pages you created today are so cool and usually the technique you used with the washi tape would scare me off but you demonstrate that it is not a hard thing to do and the results are WoW! The gold alcohol ink makes up for anything the acrylic paint is lacking. Great video, anything you share is welcomed!
Thanks, June, and you're welcome! I don't art journal as often as I'd like. I started that book last June and haven't done too many of the pages, but I've enjoyed them all. Have fun journaling!!
Thank you for the tutorial. I love zentangles as well as mixed media and I’ve been wanting to incorporate with gel prints. I have not done this yet, but you have given me the inspiration and motivation to give it a try. 😊 And I love the shimmer of the gold ink. I think it adds a whole new exciting dimension. ❤ Love the washi tape idea.
I just discover your YT channel. Your artwork is amazing. Bravo from France and thank you to share it with us.
OMG❣️I just found you. You have new subbie here. I absolutely love love love your work.
Beautiful Amber xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So inspiring, Amber. Your creativity is astounding!! Keep ‘‘em coming, and I’ll keep watching. :D
Thanks, Marian. I just did a new spread today. Just gotta edit the footage and all the other boring stuff that goes along with posting. I wish I had little editing elves that would do all my backend stuff for me. Happy creating!
New subscriber 🙌 wow , amazing and great information 🙌🎨💓
Thank you for sharing your process! I can honestly say that I haven't been this inspired in a while! You make everything look so easy. Every step and explanation were such a pleasure to watch! I've always wanted to check out Zentangle... This was my first exposure! So fun😃
Just subbed, I’m not sure how I’ve missed your channel. This was amazing to watch the progress, loved it all and the end result is fabulous. Patti
Love this tip! I’ve always been a little paranoid about my gel plates being super clean between uses but this definitely inspired me to leave paint on so I can achieve that gorgeous texture!💗
Amber, this is such a spectacular spread. I learned so many new techniques from watching and have never seen anything like this. The neutral pallet is stunning. Classy, unique ... love, love, love. Can't wait to watch more on your channel. I am a new subscriber ... only because I just found you.
Thank you and welcome to the channel! I'm happy to hear you learned something new to try!
Love watching g you zentangle!!! Amazing and mesmerizing!
Thanks so much, Ruth!
Love the two pages. I've tried metalic watercolor, but not acrylics.
Thank you, Nancy.
More of this please. Love it!!
I love the Zen Tangles. I never heard of them!!! Can't wait to try this, it's great for mixed media. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much, Marianne! Happy tangling!
So inspiring! Appreciate the inktense property info. I’ve had them for years and never realized how to use them effectively. Also have alcohol ink never used! Love buying supplies then don’t know what to do with them lol your creativity is awesome. Can’t wait to start messing up my Etchr sketch book!
Hi Linda! Thanks so much. I can totally relate. My craft room is filled with things I rarely use. I had a gel plate over a year before I used it. I saw a video that inspired me, broke it out, and have been printing ever since. Enjoy your sketch book!
Oh my gosh I’m in love with these pages! I continue to do zentangle and my gel press techniques are not at the best level but I might be able to pull this off. Thanks so much.
Thanks, Laura! The great thing about gel printing on textured paper is that the print is naturally grungy and more forgiving. Have fun printing and tangling!
love the idea of printing into your sketchbooks to get a great ragged frame! not to mention doing zentangle on them! thanks !
Yes, I do love the organic edge of a gel print! Thank, Ellie and happy printing and tangling!
@@NotableInk Watching all your vids, your voice, tone and rhythm are very soothing, not to mention I love your art! Thanks for what you do!
LOVE your mixing of techniques!! Your journal pages are truly beautiful and so so inspiring. Thank you!!
You are so welcome and thank you, Papiria!
Golden gold is great, but definitely more expensive! Golden bronze is good too 😊
Right? I have one tiny bottle of Golden paint in Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold and it's so precious. I find myself hoarding it more than using it. It's lovely though!
You are so talented-I love to watch your creations
Amber, you are always so inspiring!
Thank you so much, Diana!
Absolutely love this!! Please do more like this!
Fabulous art Journal pages 🥰 I love your gel press prints, your drawings and your work of art ❤ thanks for sharing your creativity Hugs xx
Thanks, Joan!
I’m speechless. So beautiful 😍
Thanks, Monique!
Excellent instruction. Beautiful pieces.
Thanks for this amazing video. I love these pages!
You're so welcome, and thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous 🤩🤩🤩. I don’t have it, but apparently the gold of winsor & newton is great.
Thank you! I will check that out.
Very cool and artsy! Great video!
Thanks, Dorothy!
First time watching your art, and I love it. Very creative and gorgeous.
Thanks, Robin!
I am seeing others use this Zig Kuretake BRILLIANT GOLD Mica Ink. It is very sparkly. I got the name from Amy R at Prairie Paper and Ink.
Ooo, fab. I'm adding that to my list of gold goodies to check out. Thanks, Glenda!
I can never just walk away either! If I’m focused on something man.. Also I deal with the blank white page problem by using the little tiles when you get a composition with just one main tangle and also by using tan paper cuz that makes a difference too. The small scale really was a revelation to me. Idk why I’m commenting this!
I totally agree. Colored paper makes all the difference. I do like the small tiles, but sometimes the space is too restricted for the techniques I want to do. Though, I've never tried gel printing on them, so I may need to give that a go.
I like your gel tangle. I use golden iridescent gold light it’s really nice.
Thanks, Anna! I’ll take a look at that one.
Sakura gold calligrapher pen...but it also has a bullet nib. Love them....so shiney!
Thanks so much, Jann! I will check that out. Sounds lovely!
2nd comment I just thought about adding gold leaf or foil with a medium like a tacky glue or something...I just ordered some off of Amazon for 3 colors : rose gold, gold and silver $10 nice size jars too.
I was just saying in a previous comment how I have supplies I've never used. Rose Gold leaf is one of them! I'll have to pull that out and give it a whirl. I'm intimidated by it flying all over the place.😂
@@NotableInk don’t sneeze 😁
Grand merci ! C'est ce que j'essaie de faire : concilier mix media et tangles ! Kisses from France ! I anderstand english language, but it s difficult for me to talk (or 'to speak' ?)...
Thank you for your video!! The most frustrating part of gel printing to me (and I am fairly new to this) is when the paper sticks to the plate! Any hints?? Thank you! Beautiful backgrounds! Thinking that they would look great as walls of old buildings in Europe!
You’re so welcome and thank you! If the paper is sticking you try using a little more paint on the plate. Slick super smooth paper will stick more vs a textured paper or paper with some tooth to it. Hope that helps.
@@NotableInk thanks for that tip! I bought a jelly plate, at least a year ago, all excited... every page stuck and I used Golden acrylics, they seem to dry 'plasticky'. I'm going to try again with Amsterdam acrylics. I was admittedly 'defeated', took ages to clean that plate!
Pebeo gold paint
Awesome video! I appreciate your artistic talents as I have little... But doodling seems to be (maybe?) a way for us not so artistic people to draw and have some fun! Your work with the gel plates was magical...and looks so doable too... Thank you!!
Thanks very much, Marilyn! Yes, doodle away! I always feel there is less pressure with doodling because it's not mean to be perfect. You might try your hand at Zentangle too. Check out Zentangle.com for more information. I didn't have the courage to start drawing until I started tangling. It's amazing what learning one or two patterns can do for your confidence!
