A lot of people are complaining about this being so simple instead of realizing somebody put this together in 6 months and compare it to open AI. Yeah it's simple but part of the problem is a lot of us don't have good microphones either I find it's having trouble understanding what's being put into it through the microphone from a lot of different devices. That's why it was a lot more functional in the Keynote demonstration they did in that big public forum versus what we have access to on the internet. Plus what we're playing with on the Internet is a heavily watered down version compared to what they used for their video. I noticed it can't do a lot of things that were done in the video which is why I know it's not the same version. I'm still pissed off that open AI keeps the bottomizing their product further and further most people don't notice it but I've noticed more than once and it's why they're stuff isn't working nearly like they show it in CZcams videos a lot of it's because they're dumbing it down to quote make it safer. What I'm calling dumbing it down is the crap they're doing to it to try and make it less likely to do anything of an adult nature basically the program is highly intelligent over at openai but so brutally restricted that it defeats the purpose. They're so scared of their AI showing any sign of human resemblance that they keep lobotomizing it further and further to make it less and less human with a center actions. At least this program that everybody's complaining about being simple feels more like a person a intellectually limited person but a person nonetheless
It can control its own parameters... it has access to the internet... It doesn't think if itself as an AI, but I guess AI adjacent?

Seriously though... this was more "HER movie" level as it not only sounded, but its responses sounded really thought out.
Also, the "old man" with his plugged in modem was indistinguishable from a human. it interrupted and had all the unique conversational artifacts.
I think its a wrap.
This has been shown to be merely preliminary steps and rather ineffective.
Really bro? Are really impressed by simple wave modulation, and we had complete videos synthesis! Besides, it's dumb! They do say that it took 6 months from inception to realization 🤭 a baby AI, nothing revolutionary; maybe, cute, TBH!
I don't know what's so revolutionary or shocking about that model!. Even its developers wrapped up the convo abruptly, "yeah.. I don't care about the rest... No... Uh.. Ok.." 😂
A cool thing, though, is to experience inflecting voice hands on...
We're in an age where were far too unimpressed with advancement on top of advancement. Which is a shame. There was a lot going on here, and sure, it didn't fully understand the speaker, but there could have been a lot of mitigating factors including mics. Also, its open source. that's the kind of OpenAI I'm here for.

The amazing thing is that it will be open source! Props to kyutai! But the model ist utterly dumb. After a few sentences it can't even switch voices or generate any useful information. It seems like it's trained on a single chat of somone
Completely agree about the open source aspect!
As for the model's efficiency, I get that too, but well I'd say let's give it a chance considering it was done by very few people in just a few months!
This is utter garbage in comparison to open ai chatgpt 4o.
