- Taken from "Teaser and the Firecat", 1971. 2021 reissue, 50th anniversary remaster.
This song is not a Cat Stevens original, it is a religious hymn written in the 1930s by Eleanor Farjeon. Cat Stevens arranged this version together with Rick Wakeman, the keyboard virtuoso of the band Yes, who also played the piano part in this song, and without which it wouldn't be so memorable.

Thanks. Well, actually digital can replicate this because that's what I've done here, I had to convert the analogue audio from the turntable into digital audio in order to make the video, and upload it to CZcams. But yes, I know what you mean. 😉

Back in the days I only bought one of Cat Steven's albums - Catch Bull at Four (which has none of his big hits on it). There is a song on it entitled "O Caritas" that is profoundly beautiful. Now, hearing this, I really wish I had picked up a few of his other LPs back then. I see they have 50th anniversary sets for around $100, but I may opt for either a previously owned LP or the CD. He truly is a musician, whether as Yusuf Islam or Cat Stevens, he still is an indisputable artist. Thank you Rui for a trip back in time (it sounds like the reissue was done well - I have to consider it as well). 👍👍👍👍👍
Well, I didn't spend $100 on this record, I paid less than 30€ for it, because I only bought the vinyl record, no CDs, books, Blu-ray or any other goodies included.
But incredibly, Amazon is selling a Back to Black reissue ( which in itself tells me that it's a very very regular edition, as normal as you can get, not a special edition or rarity) for a scandalous $249.98. Can someone explain to me please, what is the justification for this absurd price? It's a Back to Black edition, for God’s sake!
The edition I bought has a very clean and rich sound, the vinyl itself is very silent, so I recommend it to you if you are interested in the vinyl record only, and if you are not interested in all the other items included in the super deluxe edition. I doubt that an original pressing will sound superior to this.

@Dixene Lee I wrote to him about how special he was in his youth and how imo he lost that as many do. it’s still in the music though. Maybe he will understand someday, maybe he will get what he was writing and singing about when he AND I were in our youth!

Hi Raul, there is an expensive super deluxe edition which includes this record and a few CDs, Blu-Ray, and books, etc. But I only bought the vinyl record, not the other goodies.
All I can say is that this edition sounds very nice, and I'm happy with it. 👌

I love this album... the remastering on this 50th Anv edition is great. The Optimal pressings not so much. My first copy had vast swathes of non fill and the horrid noises that come with that defect. My second is visually alot better yet still has minor nf patches and is still a little noisier than i expect from Optimal. Pre-covid they were an excellent reliable plant but in my experience since 2019 they mess up over 50% of what they press to varying degree.

After his comments following on to 9/11 I have enormous trouble listening to or playing the music of this very talented and extremely hateful man.
What 9/11 comments are you exactly referring to? Per his Wikipedia page and other sources, after the events of 9/11 Yusuf publicly condemned in the strongest possible terms those deplorable actions in the statement below:
"I wish to express my heartfelt horror at the indiscriminate terrorist attacks committed against innocent people of the United States yesterday. While it is still not clear who carried out the attack, it must be stated that no right-thinking follower of Islam could possibly condone such an action. Unless if you are referring to the controversial comments Yusuf made about the Salman Rushdie fatwa more than a decade prior to 9/11 I don't understand how you could possibly construe the above statement as a hateful one.
