Pride was a riot, black trans women such as Marsha p Johnson are important to our history but she did not throw the first “brick” at stonewall. She also did not organize the first pride march. Brenda Howard was a white bisexual woman who was a key organizer in the first ever pride march in 1970. We can celebrate all the important achievements Black lgbt folks have made against all forms of discrimination but do so in truth that honors our history.

I didn't take that as a read, I think Michelle was trying to make it drama. People have preferences and traveling all the time isn't for everyone. Even Bob said he wishes he could have a Vegas residency or just do shows in NYC.

Simple solution, get the fans to stop being so hateful, I'm personally not a huge fan of seeing loads of drama on drag race, but we're missing so much of the queens' personality because they are holding back so much, and I guarantee as soon as the fandom stops being so toxic, we'll start getting more seasons like 2,3,4,5.
yes I felt meh about her in season 8, but all the shade and quick wit she was showing in the interviews and the first episode got me excited to see more, I wish she stayed longer for sure.

Even though I've been asking for Ongina on All Stars since the first one, I have to admit she deserved to be in the bottom here. Her number had nothing special about it and Derrick's wasn't that bad. I'm pretty sure the editing did her dirty cutting out some of the laughter she definitely got. It wasn't that great, but most of her impressions were pretty decent. And obviously I wanted her to stay because this drama with India would make great TV. It's a shame we won't get to see more of it.
The problem with Ongina is that she is, shall we say, of another era. What was gag-worthy 10 years ago is just polite applause today. She's not a look queen. She's not a pageant queen. She's not a comedy queen. She's not a freakshow queen. She's just rather forgettable except for the fact that she is from the OG season. It's not enough to just show up in an expensive, ornate costume wearing pumps and a fish face in today's competition.
Derrick tweeted that her Bernie Sanders & Hillary Clinton impersonations were cutted and on the show she said that audience were laughing her. They really edited to make 'India: top - Derrick: bottom' thing. So sad she leaves early, wanted to see her drag more.
hejiranyc i wouldn’t ever say that Ongina is forgettable because for me, she made the most impactful impression on me as a viewer when I saw the first season. Her runway walk especially was iconic and nobody can ever take away the impact she made when she revealed to the viewing audience and judges that she was positive and how much winning that challenge meant to her. So for me Ongina has always been fierce. I do agree with you that since her time on the show the competition has become way more challenging. But if Bebe was able to keep up in All Stars 3 to the point of being a finalist again, then I KNOW Ongina can do so to. The problem is she’s getting in her head and is intimidated by the other queens for no reason when she should just be focusing on herself.

1) it would be a total waste for a Britney impersonator to not take advantage of the “oops I did it again” line
2) the impersonations for the talent part was an attempt to step out of that Britney box but he just sucked at it. He was trying to show he could do other things besides Britney but failed at it. He should have done something completely off from what people would expect.
@@average.6079 the entrance look is usually supposed to be your trademark. Her trademark is Britney, she doesn't have to cancel Britney from her act. It will always be a part of her and it's ok if she wants to stay on brand for the entrance look. She would have tried many different things on the show if she had the chance to stay longer

I've never been a big fan of Derrick but I really wanted him to stay. I can see that he's improved from his season and I really felt him when he was crying during his confessionals, it made me think "Yes, maybe he does deserve to be here and compete." so I was a little sad to see him go first. He loves Britney but it's evident he loves drag too and I would have loved to see how he's blossomed from S8.

To be fair, everyone (including the queens involved) love Ongina and want to see her on TV again, so whoever got put against her in the bottom 2 would have gotten eliminated. I think it was smart by Ru/the producers to not put Ongina in the bottom in the first episode so the first vote could feel meaningful. Otherwise, we would not be happy with the outcome of the new format and would question it from day 1.

Derrick was on the show, because they're running out of interesting queens to bring back. The producers played him, twice now. They knew most queens don't like him and he's one note character, but can add drama to the show. Quintessentially he's just a filler Queen

Can’t say, I LOVE Derrick. I think his personality isn’t what it was portrayed in season 8, and he’s more light-hearted and fun, while being a drag queen who gives solid (prepared) looks while doing a kick ass impersonation. What I would have LOVED for the season would have been him trying to do Mariah for snatch game, and seeing what iconic moments could have come from that.

Derrick excelled at playing Derrick in Vegas Review. I feel her brand is more suited to a casual reality role, and her storyline is more appropriate outside of a competition format. I suddenly liked her. She's relaxed. I dig it. I hope they get a chance to film another season.
