I am 63 yo but have only within the past 2 years tried to learn about Bass fishing after retiring. I don't have the resources you have but I'm not jealous... well maybe just a little bit LOL. It doesn't matter that we all can't afford the equipment you have. What matters is the way you present your videos, We can all learn something useful no matter where we are or what tackle we have. Thanks for all the time you put into sharing your knowledge.
Chuck Barnett Never too late to get addicted to the green fish. Tight lines turn back time! 😎
Chuck Barnett nice
Well said
@CW Barnett You Still Out Fishing Today?.I Felt This Message 100%
I looked through the comments and saw a lot of negativity based on your filming skills. Guys, keep in mind these two men are bass fishermen. Not some Hollywood trained cameramen. Just because they’re based in California doesn’t mean they’re naturally talented filmmakers, they’re just naturally talented fishermen. So please be respectful and constructive with your criticism.
I’ve watched this video a thousand times and it just keeps getting better. Between the way Matt articulates the subject of jig fishing, and Tim’s body language while jig fishing it’s definitely one of TB greatest! Epic!🙌🏽🎣💪🏽
You guys are awesome. Smartest fishermen on CZcams period. Not sure why anyone has more subs but hey I'm kinda glad I get to be on the cutting edge of bass fishing on chickamauga lake.
God is good
71k subs can't wait til you guys hit the 100k mark. Well deserved definitely learned more watching you guys then I have from anywhere else.
I love watching these vids with Tim fishing in the background just like in the Punching video, while Matt explains everything. Thanks again guys for another great vid.
I can watch these videos multiple times and learn something each time. Thanks for taking the time to be so detailed. Amazing videos
Thank you for always giving great advice. It's a crime you two don't have at least 250k subs. Everything I've tried from your advice (bully wa, dirty jigs, sick fish, etc) has been permanently placed in my arsenal. Thanks fellas
I lost count on how many times I came back to this vid. This is so informative! You guys make great content @tacticalbassin and I try to watch every single vid that comes out.
You guys are awesome! Thank-you for sharing your priceless knowledge. Helps me take my kayak bass fishing to the next level. Tight lines!
Curt, Vallejo California
Im just gunna start a notebook of each of your guys videos and keep it in my tacklebag lol..ive already absorbed so much info from u guys over the last few yrs and it has totally made me a better fisherman overall..there truly is no other channel out there with the type of info you and Tim provide..love it..
Love you guys! Best knowledge around! Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for all that you guys do. I’ve been watching your videos for quite a bit and I was able to apply the tips and catch my personal best on a jig this past weekend.
Wow...Just wow...you guys are jyst awesome in the way you teach, show, AND explain!!! Like I said in the past you teach like you are talking to a friend. Thank you for awesome videos. The other day I went through my gear and immediately knew what was for and why and realized I bought some of my lures because I saw them catching bass on other videos but did not know the type and color of water they were fishing because it was never mentioned...now to buy more lures that I don't have but really need and now realize why I wasn't catching bass with the lures I was throwing because I didn't know color choice depending on water color.
these are the best fishing tutorials on youtube! keep up the good work!
je(+_+)(+_+)=_=:O(+_+)B-)
Great video guys. Couldn't agree more about keeping it simple on the jig colors and using trailers for additional / contrasting colors. Thanks for the laughs too. Keep em coming guys. Brent Schneider.
Would love to see a video exclusively about skipping jigs from you guys. When and where to skip certain sizes of jigs and the trailers that work best for ya'll. Always exciting to see a new video pop up, great work Matt and Tim!
Please keep the Full Seminar style videos coming, I live for these
Tims animated reaction of a missed hook set in the back ground was awesome. Another great vid guys. You two are by far the most informative youtubers going
Dude, Matt. One of your best videos ever. I come back to it often.
Thank you!
Fantastic format Matt discussing rigs in the foreground... and Tim throwing and retrieving behind
Another great detailed video and I liked Tim fishing in the background to see how he fishes a jig. I'm one of those guys that have not caught a fish on a jig. I'm feeling confident in my chatter bait fishing, it's helped me understand how to rip through grass to elicit a strike.
Now I'm looking forward to fishing a jig in that same grass. I'll keep you posted!
Great information here - thank you. I'm in the low-confidence camp still... need to spend some serious time with this I think.
You guys have the best fishing videos on CZcams! Keep it up!
This might be the most entertaining fishing instructional on CZcams. Watching Tim swing on fish then shake his head in disbelief while Matt gives great information...doesn’t get much better than that
Perfect video! My buddy was just asking me about jig rods at Clearlake, I will have him scope the info 👍
You guys rock! About to meet my dad in GA for a weekend trip. Grabbing a new jig or two before I head out thanks to you. Cast out!
I just subscribed to you guys. Your videos are always very descriptive, which is great! Definitely have learned a lot from you.
Great vids, guys. The swing&miss at 3:52 is classic!
Just found and viewed this video from 3 years ago. Fantastic video. I learned a ton !!
A lot of good information to take in going to have to watch video again Great video
I keep a 3/8 flipn jig on at least 1 rod at all times, haven't caught many but some of my biggest came on it, thanks for the info guys!
Smartest youtube fisherman ever period. You guys are amazing
I tend to fish the finesse jigs here in the Northeast. I'm going to try switching trailer colors now. Thanks for the great info as always.
Great video guys. I like this style of video's
Great breakdown! 👍
Matt..... I am a very experienced jig fisherman and I could not agree with you more on the importance of a parabolic rod for fishing jigs. I preach it. You hit the biggest point when fighting the fish. One thing I am wondering. Have you ever used a jig with a "sproat" hook? If you get ahold of one compare it with an ewg by sticking them into a potato and giving each a shake. You will find a sproat hook will not move as much as the ewg thus raising your catch ratio. I dont comment on videos much. Great job.
You're a great teacher. Thanks!
Another awesome video guys! Thanks!
I don't know how this isn't the number fishing CZcams channel. Awesome stuff, I've used their tips here in South Florida
Awesome video guys! Very informative!
Helped me big time. I’m fishin CA so it’s nice to learn from guys in CA
On the rod part makes sense. My phenix m1 7'8" is a mh-f but feels more like a mod-f. When hooking up a fish, just like you stated i feel in control of the fight. My jig rod just doesn't feel right, as if when the fish jumps and shake it head, i feel that i need to lean in more to keep the rod bend. Excellent info.
Gonna watch this overtime before jig fishing! puzzle more videos like this, please do one about spinnerbaits
Thank you so much for your helpful information.
Great video as alwayssss!!!!
Dobyns champion Xp 744 jig rod special with a 13 fishing concept Kp reel. The kp reel Is a little overkill but couldn't be happier with the combo for anything 3/8-3/4. Anything heavier and I'm busting out the broomstick lol. Great video guys
Great info!!! thanks for the detail!
I now have a whole notes section just labeled Jigs! Thanks guys this was the video I needed. I love your tips videos, they are so in depth and easy to follow. Do you think you could do a newer one on Prop Baits? Cause I have one of those Heddon Torpedo things but I don't know what to do with it.
You are a awesome teacher brother.
Great information! Thank you!
Matt/Tim, this video "popped" up on my view list the other day, watched it, and I wanted to add a comment regarding your preference here for a moderate action rod. You mentioned that a rod that loads up with a stronger, deeper bend keeps the pressure on the jig hook where a fast action rod might straighten out and release the pressure . . . fish jumps and swims off. The other thing worth mentioning that I think most anglers just overlook, hold such a strong preference for fast action rods, is that a rod that bends more, like a moderate, shortens the lifting point and gives the angler much more power over the fish. I think most people think this is not so, that a moderate action rod is softer and less powerful. But, that extra bend greatly improves the fighting leverage an angler has. That adds more credence to going "moderate" for fishing a jig. Great video! Brad
Thank you for taking the time to chime in! We appreciate it, Brad!
awesome video!!! im just now getting into jig fishing!!! always would throw shakey heads, texas rigged worms etc because nobody fishes a jig on our lake some do but most say you cant catch fish here on them on lake marion, sc i refuse to believe that hope to get one soon on a jig!! thanks for the superb info!
In 2016 the FLW top 10 baits for Santee Cooper 3 of the guys were using jigs with Bryan Thrift in first with a jig.
Great info guys!! Thanks!
You guys are awesome.
Wind flower point! Always catch fish there. I like it later in the day when the wind is blowing on it!!
Hi TacticalBassin! I would really appreciate if you could make a video of which kind of rod you use (M,MH,H,XH) with which action according to the style of fishing you are doing. I really, really enjoy those informative videos that comes from pro anglers. There's always 1 or 2 tips that I didn't know about!
Love the "Tim missed a bite" head bob 🤣🤣
Great jig video. my favorite to throw. Interesting using braid to mono for leader throwing jigs. Might have to give that a try
Do they mean tying some mono to the end of the braid for a leader?
@@Ethans_Outdoors yes sir
Miss a few Tim 😃😃 great info guys as always.
Used to be afraid of throwing a jig. Now I'm pulling 2's and 3's from my apartment pond leaving everyone so confused! Thanks for everything Matt and Tim!
I like Matt's imitation of a paca craw. A+ in my book.
+Nate Halterman Hahaha
Matt you the goat good video
watched before but rewatched to touch up. Haha Tim with the **** when he misses that bite had me rolling.
Tim’s swinging for the fences back there
😂 hell yeah
I been throwing a 3/4oz football Jig on 50lb braid a lot this summer. I noticed on a windy day the wind really pushes around my braid while making a long cast. Any recommendations? Thanks guys awesome video 👊🏻👊🏻
Very helpful video
I've caught several fish off of jig down here in Florida so much grass and mock have any recommendation guys awesome video by the way
Well i needed this a few tournaments ago lol!
I hate that rod snap strong fish u guys have the best info love the videos do a video on tubes forgotten bait
How does this channel not have at least 200k subscribers yet?
I just want to thank you for all your video’s
How soon to you set your hook using a jig?
Thank you again
Jigs are my go to baits!!!
Could you do a video on what to look for in buying a first boat? I'm on the collegiate trail with NC State's BassPack and looking to get a boat on a college budget
I am relatively new with bass fishing and fish with small fishing club in north texas. You said that using a swimbait will eliminate 90% of bites. Just interested to know if I should ignore swimbaits and dropshot in favor of other baits. By the way, great channel!
Do you think tying on a leader is always necessary even when fishing stained water? Also you never really mentioned fishing jigs around fallen timber I've had luck with this but have lost jigs doing it. Love the videos especially with Tim fishing in the background. Thanks for all the tips. also I've been using nothing but dirty jigs lately with your suggestions great products.
Thanks for the pointers on jigs
Love it!! Just like your old jig video on steroids
Dont watch seminar type videos when multitasking online.....restarted the video like 10 times before watching it through! lol Def not gonna miss 1 word of you all spilling the juice...same way I treat davy hite whenever I see him on basslive! You all know the recipe...and Im fixing to cook!
Hey what brand is the longsleeve hoodie you are wearing. Also do a video of fishing apparel and the importance of it.
I watched this video literally 7times to punch it in my mind
3:53 Srry Tim I noticed you lost a fish over there. Just let the man fish! Haha nice info on jigs. I have never caught a bass with a jig. Idk if my technique is wrong but I'm excited to try again. Thanks for the info!
Gettin jiggy with it! Good video.
na na na na na na na... na na na na na na
OK GUYS GREAT VIDEO YOU DID A VIDEO SAYING YOU ALL TRAVELED ACROSS THE STATES FISHING LAKES AND RIVERS NOW I LIVE IN FLORIDA I HAVE 30 PONDS HERE BUT THEY ARE ONLY 4 TO 5 FEET DEEP THE SPRING BITE WAS GREAT THIS IS WERE I LEARNED TO WORK A SWIM JIG I STARTED TO MAKE MY OWEN AN THEY WORK NOW WE ARE INTO SUMMER THE BITE JUST STOPPED I HAVE TRIED EARLY MORNING LATE MORNING TO EVENING IM LOCAN YOU HELP ME I FORGOT TO SAY IVE HAVE BEEN FISHING ALL MY LIFE BUT THIS HAS ME STUMPED THANKS D L MORGAN
Any suggestions for a good 6xd rod for under $130? I was considering the 7'6" Shimano exage heavy cranking rod (1/2oz-1 1/2oz) for $100 on tw but idk anyone who has used it.
You list the Exage as your budget all around jig rod.. would you go with the 7'2 MH or the H?
What would you consider the step up in the AP jig rod?
Possibly the Dobyns Champion 734? I agree that I would like a more moderate bend and unfortunately in the Northeast
no one carry the Dobyn's line in stock to handle....
The rod I used to use was a mid 80's Loomis MB 843 that I built myself. Which had a somewhat moderate bend with a good tip....
I have yet to come across a rod comparable and the newer GL3 rods seem much faster..... which is why I'm in search of another rod to replace it it.
Believe it or not the rod that I actually liked in hand is the SM Tournament Concept TCS-C-701H... with the exception of the overall weight primarily because it's a production rod.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated... suggestions in the middle of the two price ranges would be great also...
Too many rods with not enough access to handle by the consumer is the problem....
you guys just caused me to buy a bunch of new swimbaits. lets see if i can finally catch something on Berryessa
Hey guys long time watch of your show and just wondering what kind of reel should I use for jig fishing one that isn't super expensive?
Thank you guys for all the info and tips! I have been bass fishing since I was a kid (43 now), and always just used texas rigged plastic worms, top waters, and small spinners. Many techniques have passed me by. My 11 yo son has really gotten me back into fishing since he was old enough to hold a rod. This old dog has since discovered wacky rigged stick worms, which are my new favorite, swimbaits like the keitech fat swing (which are his favorite) and so on. We just got a bunch of jigs for Christmas and can't wait to try them when we get back home to FL!
Thanks again!
Charlie
In reference to pork jig trailers. Last time I was in Delta Bait "Fishermans Warehouse" in Manteca they had plenty of options for pork trailers. Anything from jig trailers to the long skinny split tail trailers for trolling broken back lures for stripers. Anyways just thought I'd drop that little tid bit just in case anyone is looking for pork.
Matt, how would the 7'6" Medium Heavy Expride perform for jigs? I am reading there is a small reel seat on the Expride, I have large hands, is this a concern? Also I'm thinking a Dobyns Champion 734? I fish 3/8-1/2 oz jigs.
Matt/Tim, do you guys notice any major differences in how to approach catching the three major species of black bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted) aside from the obvious such as where they are located? Do you do anything different when concentrating on the different species using jigs or is it pretty much a one size fits all approach? I have little experience with spotted and smallmouth even though I've fished waters that contain them and jigs are usually one of my go-to lures at some point in the day.
Hey guys just got a quick question about a rod I’m looking at. I’m checking out the dobyns champion extreme hp 743 and 744. I’m having trouble narrowing it down, I’d like the rod to be for jigs 3/8-3/4 ounce, 3/16-3/8 ounce Texas rigs, and also have the ability for a spinnerbait or chatterbait if needed and also have power to get fish through less dense padded areas. Which would you recommend?
What do you think about the shimano exage? I see you linked it in the description. I just have wanted to see if a good rod for how inexpensive it is
Would a moderate fast action rod be good for both jig , and square bill and lipless crank bait fishing ?
Hello Matt love your vids , I am pretty good at worm fishing and I do really good texas rigging craw type lures , but I have the worst luck with jigs, no matter how i try or what size weight jigs I use , I just can't feel the lure on the bottom , I tried hopping the jig ,dragging the jig, I even tried your two hop/ pop-pop technique , but i still can't get bit on a jig, PLEASE help !!!!!
Is it ok to use red label for leaders on braid when jig fishing? Ive been using it for a couple months with no issues.
Hey, awesome videos! In Sweden we mostly use 15-30 gram shads for redfin perch (we dont have bass here), or smaller cranks, lipless and bladebaits. Can you recommend one rod for shads and one for small cranks/lipless? Looking for higher priced rods, around 250-300 dollars.
Joakim Åberg hes not swedish and doesnt fish for redfin perch, how tf what he know?
I am in California and have lots of clear water lakes near by, I am looking for a smaller football head jig rod, I had a 72 3 power but can't seem to get a hookset, what would you recommend for something not to expensive
Another good video guys. I had my first 100 fish day on a jig. Dirty jig in super Matt Brown with a chunk craw trailer caused the Mayhem. Im now a believer!
That's awesome Bob!
what kind of chunk craw?
LT Dan ,
Strike king rage tail chunk in pumpkin.

thank you sir
