- Following on from some whistles I made a while ago, I revisited this type of make. Initially looking at another whistle then flutes before I came across the Ocarina.
Quite a simple make, but the splitting edge on the sound hole is what makes it work and the most essential part that minor adjustments either make it work or not.

That is cool. Great work and thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
Well done Paul
Thank you Doug
this is very helpful
I like the way you do your airway
Thank you. Hopefully it gave a different view as to how all these types of instruments work.
@@PaulLockwood Yes it did
I had no idea how technical a "simple" whistle device is! Thanks for sharing the info Paul. Im looking forward to seeing more on this. Ive started carving again, and might try one of these. 😎❤👍
Thank you Dave. I made a few whistles last year and all seemed pretty easy. It's when you make them large or then do something like a flute that it becomes more technical and I spent a lot of time researching on how these work. Getting it right as you see doesn't happen first time.
Seems very tricky!
Thank you, yes getting that lip in the right place and the size of the channel and sound hole all makes a big difference.
