In India apple pay doesn’t work.
The add card option will work after this steps, but you can’t add card to wallet. The bank will deny in one step after this. So don’t be foolish 🤝
What he didn’t tell is that , if you change to United States, then you have to have a valid United States card listed in the acceptable card list. So basically you cannot just add any credit or debit card which is not valid in the United States.

For those who don’t know. The wallet works anywhere in India. But you need to have US credit card added to your wallet. I have used it at the Mumbai airport. Won’t work with Indian credit cards. 😊
