As a former longtime Slot employee:
(1) payback ranges are set by the gaming commission. The higher the denomination, typically the higher the payback percentage.
(2) payouts are calculated over a "machine cycle". This cycle is typically 100,000 spins on the game.
(3) casinos are free to change payback percentages as long as they match denomination ranges and they get approval by the gaming commission to do so.

About the 1000 credits on the bonus. All the time I worked in casinos, I have only seen in once myself. I think you have a better chance of being hit by lightning, inside, on a clear day.

I worked a good number of years during my college days and shortly there after in various casinos, and only seen it once. Then again, unless you pass that magical $1200 threshold, you could hit it and the game will not lock-up....
The glass on the games is often changed by the casinos, but the physical machine stays in place. On the reel games, simply the reel strips are replaced and the chip is changed, and then resealed by gaming. Typically the only time a game is actually moved is to change the floor layout.
I forgot to add: Some believe that payout percentages vary depending on what day of the week/month/year it is, or time of day. This notion is false, nor does the insertion of a player's club card affect the performance of the game. I am speaking strictly of regulated casinos. Tribal casinos can work in different ways, although most operate on the up-and-up as well.
@H C Very true on the progressives. I was speaking about stand-alone games such as the Top Dollar Stacey was playing. Progressives work a bit differently because there are many games which are linked. All casinos I have worked at, have all been networked. Odds, however, still cannot be set via input to the server over the network. This is simply a safeguard required by the gaming commission. I'm not sure how it is in Las Vegas, but in the casinos I worked at in Biloxi (Hard Rock, Beau Rivage, and Grand Casino), any jackpot $100,000 or over (I believe) requires a representative from the gaming commission to inspect the game prior to the win being paid. This being said, although gaming regulations vary slightly here and there, for the most part they are extremely similar throughout the country, and all are based on those in Nevada.
The games to play are those that require a large input with a small maximum output. Sizzling 7s is a great example. It is a 3-credit game, with a maximum win typically of 1000 credits. This 1000 credit win will come up much more often than say a 5000 credit, or 10000 credit win. Also, if playing it in the $1 denomination, those wins are not taxable. ☺

@H C That is true. Casinos do use their networks to obtain real-time data. In fact, the exact symbology on all games can be seen as the game is played. This is how slot dispatchers know when and where there are jackpots or machine malfunctions without they themselves being on the floor. ☺
My jackpots in Vegas last week reminded me of this video so I watched this again.
(1) But last week in Vegas I hit the $5000 jackpot on Double top dollar at El Cortez, 5 denom 2 credit($10 bets). The second hit on Top Dollar bonus just lit up the "5000" sign, to my surprise!
(2) The next day I won $1600 on the same machine.
(3) Also, Jackpot #3, I hit at Harrahs Double top dollar. I hit the Top dollar bonus with 660 credits for $6600, 165 credits X2 X2. This was a weekend of Double top Dollar wins. I have pics and videos of the win too.

I once won 1000 x 2 on a $10 machine at Ceasar's in AC! And my ex-wife won 1000 x 2 x2 on a $10 at Trump Plaza when that existed. I was at Ceasar's whej a gu twon the $1,000,000 on a 5x, 5x, 5x machine. ANd also at Ceasar's I saw someone win $200,000 on a 10 x 10x 10 x machine. I hit the TopDollar once for $64,000 and $60,000 on a 10 x 10 x 10x mchine. I love your videos!!

I’ve hit the 1000 credits on the $5 denomination Top Dollar near the player’s club at the Aria as well twice on a $1 denomination at MGM National Harbor. For the Aria win, the best thing was it was off of free play! I have a picture of the $5 1000 credit win (not sure how to post it. The bonus only lit up the 1000 credits and immediately made the jackpot sound with no option for selecting to take the offer or not. Also, it was so fast that I’m not sure if it is possible to multiply the 1000 credits. Each of the three times I hit it, the 1000 credits lit up by itself and immediately locked the machine to call the attendant and pay the jackpot out. Good luck and thank you for the great channel!

I saw it in the original "high limit" room in Tampa. Several big players were dumping $1000's in playing the $25 denomination, but never hit anything special. After the 3rd guy gave up I went to go play, but another guy sat down to play in front of me. He hit on his 4th spin. 1000 credits, x2, then x2 and the machine locked up. $100,000 win. I got a couple pics before the "suits" showed up, but didn't copy them over when I replaced my phone.

Stacy in Colorado the casino can alter the payouts on machines as long as the Colorado Gaming commission allows. The casino DOES need to have a minimum payout per the the gaming commission. Most states do post payouts by cassino.

Seen them change wheels before at circus circus on the big Bertha machine. Mom and dad and aunt and uncle were crushing machine. Played it for couple days straight. Back when real coins or silver tokens were used. Compted dinners in to get them off machine. While eating upstairs watched them open the machine in and change out the wheels that lowered your chances. Gang played one hr after. Machine was dead. Took their winnings and compted meal and left. Machine was fixed to loose! Hello. Rigged to take your money! That why they call them one armed bandits.
Aria, chasers cosmo now does have the power in house to regulate slots. They have 20 mins to notify player if they deem necessary to make changes to slot. They are supposed to explain to players if they ask slot attendants about this. Good luck
