- In this video we take a look a the process of setting the distributor fuel synchronization on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The process should be the same for any Zj from 1992-1998.
If the distributor has been out of the vehicle then before performing this procedure the cap should be removed and the rotor should be pointed at the TDC timing mark on the cam sensor.
Tools required:
ratchet
5/8" spark plug socket and extension
*Compression tester gauge
1 & 1/4" socket and ratchet
13mm wrench (ratcheting stubby preferred)
Electrical Multimeter
Electrical probe or pin
A wire with alligator clips
* you could check for pressure with your finger without the gauge.

People
A 3/8 inch gas line about 4” long works really great installing plugs
A hand held starter jumper switch wire works wonders
Yes a fancy wrench
Mine is home made
Most all my specialty tools are home built
If u have to replace air idle solenoid
They aren’t set they screw in an out
I found that 7/8 inch from base to end of
The head works fine
Could be another 1/8 less
Or 5/8 from base
Note. U might want to put Teflon on the threads, no lock tire
It has a spring in it
But sometimes it will back out closing off vacuum
Those under dash distributor is a real pain to get to
