speedrunning this beautiful game is a crime
lol, I played though it casually first. I'm not the type of person to play though a game casually multiple time either. Speedrunning games gives me a another way to enjoy it, it's a very different kind of enjoyment, but enjoyment non the less.
Most runners of the game do different categories than this one because not only do those visit more of the game, but they have a lot more cool tricks, movement, and are just generally considered more fun by many players. All Skills No OoB/TA and All Cells (any version of it) are good examples of these other categories.
I seen also reverse category where you must complete all parts of game in reversed order. I mean Lava zone, lava orb, air zone, air orb, water zone, water orb and complete the game. All those glitches are nothing in comparable with this. Sorry for english
Inexhaustible Austrian you sound triggered. Op is saying it’s a crime to speed run this game because it’s such a beautiful game that’s so heavily focused on story, and this person is rushing through it trying to finish it as soon as possible. Speed running can be enjoyable in it’s own way, but typically with a game like this the focus is on taking it slow and admiring details, being immersed in the story, etc. So stop being triggered please, it’s subjective and you need to chill
MichaelSSBM I did the same, played it casually then picked up speedrunning. Both are very enjoyable in different ways.

Captain here; He's assembling/inserting a string (Idk what the technical name of it is) that causes the game to miss-place his progression in the time line.

If you are watching this and you just started the game, exit the video when the timer stops, the full 13 minutes is pretty much spoiler free. Enjoy the speedrun.

I still wonder how on Earth people find glitches like this, how many different things do you need to try to find that one thing that will glitch it in your favor?
I guess you play something over and over and eventually you just run into crazy stuff that sometimes benefits you.
Didn't see any glitches though?
Zev Near the end when he was in the Ginso Tree he managed to slip pretty much the whole game by making the game think he was at a later part in the story which occurs at that same spot, that's why suddenly everything was on fire for seemingly no reason
If I remember correctly they look the code of the game
RitzyLonelyWolf i doubt that. Most glitchers know favorible glitches like this through trial and error, also world of mouth from online.
BTW How can they see a glitch from code. Wouldnt have developers saw the broken code and fixed before release?

speedrun glitch we would say?
Some people learn to speedrun games without fully playing the game casually. While it may help to know the game casually to better understand certain mechanics, it isn't necessary. It just depends on the runner.
maurits unkel I just think it's far more impressive doing an ACTUAL speed run of the game instead of using the glitches to cheat through half the game. It's not about the person not 'enjoying' the game, it's about it being a cheap move.
Yes I do agree with that.
Cecil, glitches are used to make the game faster, not easier. Most glitches used in speedruns make the runs way more difficult. Do you really think we press a button and skip parts of the game for free?
I can't wait for the sequel to ori.

yeah Ori doesn't have story trigger requirements to start cutscenes, so as long as you can get to any place in the map where one of the ending cutscenes is located, you can complete the game. This is the fastest way, but you can also reach other parts of the ending cutscene, and even the credits directly.

Just picked up this masterpiece on Thursday, beat it in 7hrs, not long enough lol definitely grabbing the sequel
This game glitchless is about 50 minutes.
A Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando run is also about 50 minutes, using every damn glitch you can imagine. So stop saying a game should be speedrun with no glitches, because some games would take more time than a human could probably manage
(I'm not saying R&C2 is one of those cases)
Are you showing that to introduce the sequel news in the next days ? 😏
No, ign just likes to post speedrunning videos now and then for whatever reason
Ori and The Will of the Wisps
I'm already hyped
I played this game at least 10 times, but I don't understand how did accomplished this, amazing.
I thought this was a joke at first. I mean, finishing a game that took me 7 hrs in 13 minutes sounds like a bit of a stretch. Then the glitch happened. So, wow. You did it. I'd still rather play the whole game, though. It's a beautiful game and all.
Speedrunning is a "scene" or a hobby if you will that's unrelated to regular videogaming. Who knows if these speedrunners might enjoy the game on their own pace the first time around (some don't care so much about every game they speedrun). It's like running a marathon, not related to sightseeing.
Such a good game, BUY IT!

Oh god not this again
"muh beautiful game, why would you speed run it, it's a crime"
Every time, I swear to god
Well... doesn't suddenly stop being true, does it?
Speedrunning a game using glitches is like someone listening to your favorite album and constantly hitting fast forward and next track to get to the end as quickly as possible. No matter how amazingly creative he gets with hitting the buttons and how entertaining the whole thing becomes in its own right, it _does_ also ruin the music.
elvancor If that's your way to enjoy the music I don't see the problem
Delilh There is no problem. There's no "problem" with enjoying paintings by folding them into paper planes, apart from people complaining that you're not appreciating something they care about. But they _will_ complain. Glitch-speedrun games if you must, nobody's stopping you. Just don't complain about people complaining.
I haven't complained at all. You are the one complaining about the ones complaining of people complaining.
Delilh Very funny.
How can anyone speedrun this, when every scenery is mesmerizing
That was one heck of a glitch, to get from Ginso to the end of the Horu escape in no seconds flat.

the fact that this glitch actually works and this is not an edit is insane

Not so much a speed run - more just glitching the hell out of the game.
Its still a speedrun, just a speedrun that also includes glitches. Speedrunning communities (there is one for every game being run) often decide to create multiple speedrunning categories for a game. The category in this video is called ‘any%’, which is the standard name for speedruns that allow the use of almost any trick or glitch that exists. But there will undoubtedy be another category that excludes the use of warping/teleporting to skip parts of the game.

watching this on 2x speed gives me so much anxiety
Am i the only one who think, that speedruns where you essentialy BREAK the game, should not count?
Myuutsuu85 yes
If you don't like it, go watch a different category. Most of these tricks aren't easy either. This is any% and runs like this have their place in speedruns.
MichaelSSBM well, how should u have known, how this speedrun was archived, if i didn't take a look at this video first?
Any%. That's the first time i heard about this, and logicaly, my first thought was, that this just meant, a 100% completion is not required.
The game is not meant to be played in a way, where you glitch trough the map ans skip entire sections. So tell me, why should anybody be proud, if they use errors to get to the end in mere minutes?
That is no sign of skill. At least not the type of skill that matters for a game lile that.
Also, who says that those are even glitches in the game itself? What is convincing us, that somebody didn't just hacked the game code and added those "shortcuts" themself?
So no. What we have here could, at best, be used for bugfixes and stuff. But claiming it to be a speedrun is pure arrogance and a lack of understanding how much work was put into such games.
Myuutsuu85 no your not. I am looking for a speed run for the achievement but they all exploit the glitches
Myuutsuu85 So basically you don't really know much about speed running fandom or the community guidelines to it. Instead of just accepting this, allowing a correction to be made your thin nimble paradigm, you instead go the defenseive route, feeling as though beimg made aware was something akin to an attack.
Don't worry though, ome day you'll stop being an edgy teen
Where-is-the-developers-reaction-to-this-speedrunning??!
@Zerebrat Eightyseven it's an any% speed run which means anything goes including glitches. I'm sure what you are looking for would be a no glitches% or 100% run
Still makes me cry
Am i the only one who didn't understand this speedrun?
Is he playing in Japanese (or whichever) because that’s the only way this is possible or is the dialogue just faster?...
Seth Dunn yeah I had to set to Japanese. I thought it was faster at the time but I've seen other runners just play with English, I don't think it makes a difference.
on PC you can turn off the UI with Alt+U, and that also skips all dialogue instantly so languages are equal for speedruns.
I think the reason Japanese was chosen in particular(assuming that the speedrunner doesn't primarily speak it) is that with older games, such as those before the seventh-generation of consoles, had more bugs on the Japanese versions of the game. Most people ended up using that version for their Any% category because it had the most potential bugs to exploit for faster times. While that is certainly not the case with this game, considering that it is on steam, and can be patched, the language choice could be an homage to that.
Do a Developers react on this
People complaining on people complaining about breaking the game, that's not even the issue, The issue is that its titled as a speed run even if its not, its a glitch abuse. I don't even care if i have to watch a 2 hour video if it means he did finish it the way the story went. I want to see platforming skill, not ingenuity on glitch system.
