Thank you for mentioning Eric Carman was the original artist and songwriter. I was about to make the same post. I grew up in the 70s and remember it well.

I find that happens alot. They don't say the original singer but say who was the last performer who sang it that made the song popular again. I actually don't think that it's fair to the original singer.

All by Myself was put out by Eric Carmen years before Celine did it. I wish whenever songs are performed they would credit the originals ie Robyn's Dancing on My Own is credited to the most recent rendition. Adele is credited with a song that was performed by Billy Joel years ago and he's not the original either. Give credit where credit is due!!!
