In this video, we delve into a classic debate: Dome vs. Bullet cameras. The choice between these two security camera types depends on various factors, including your specific use case and personal preferences. Dome cameras are known for their discreet appearance, making them ideal for indoor settings where aesthetics matter. On the other hand, bullet cameras, with their more noticeable cylindrical shape, act as a deterrent, especially in residential areas, where visibility can deter potential threats.
Both types can be mounted in various ways, from ceilings to walls, depending on your needs. When it comes to positioning the lens, bullet cameras offer more flexibility as you can adjust them to point precisely where you want. However, dome cameras have the added protection of a glass cover, making them harder to tamper with.
One crucial consideration is vandal resistance. Dome cameras are typically harder to tamper with due to their protective glass, while bullet cameras, with their more accessible design, may be vulnerable to interference.
Finally, the deterrent factor is crucial, particularly in residential settings. The visibility of bullet cameras can discourage potential threats, even though they might not be the most aesthetically pleasing option.
Ultimately, the choice between dome and bullet cameras depends on the context and your priorities. Your personal preference as an installer plays a role too. If i use the fixed dome camera wall mounted outside facing my front door, is my wide angle view restricted as opposed to using a 'moving' camera?

      Thank you for your question.
When using a fixed dome camera wall-mounted outside and facing your front door, the wide-angle view is indeed limited to the camera's fixed field of view. A fixed camera captures a specific area and does not move to cover different angles. In contrast, a 'moving' camera, such as a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera, can rotate and adjust its view to cover a broader area and different angles.
