    After seeing your strawflowers from last season, I have started some from seeds this year. Thank you for the tips about their foliage and possible supportive needs!

    Your strawflowers are gorgeous, and I have seeds for some of them. If the temperature would get just a tad warmer, I could start them with winter sowing or just protected pots. My winter sowing jugs are doing well, and I'm excited to get seedlings in the ground and blooming! Patience is hard.

    They grow really well here in southern Australia.
    Thanks so much for all of the tips.

    Love the video! I planted some last fall, and they wintered just fine with our temperate southern California winter. My first time growing them and I'm IN LOVE! They are the coolest flowers ever and I have seeds coming to plant more varieties. I'm hooked!

    I’m going to have to join TikTok just to follow you! There are quite a few people out there doing what you’re doing, but you know what you’re talking about when it comes to growing! I can trust the information you give. I’m thinking of ordering the “King Size” series from Johnny’s. That blush color is gorgeous! Wondering if that is from a mix or specific variety. Silvery rose maybe? Oh yeah I’ve had PM on them. I didn’t even think to pinch! All the info I was googling the other day is right in this video! You’re a mind reader and so thorough! I wish we lived closer together. I’d love to have a coffee in the garden with you!

    Love your content and photos!!! Great beginner info. I've only grown them once and could have used the pinching suggestion!!!

    Im growing, antique white, apricot, bright pink, red purple, gold & another variety- silver ?...kinda light pink. Got my seeds from Geo & Floret planted in trays & winter sown jugs, too. Both ways germinated. Loved all your photos & great talking points.💐

    TFS!!
    I'm surprised you didn't tell CZcams landia how to grow Strawflower?
    Well, I'm a Newbie and they are easy to germinate, sprinkle on top, keep watered,
    That's where I'm at presently!
    I thought I would try mixed colors this year then find what sells best, or people mention more. The 2 you picked are definitely worth me growing next year.
    Good luck with your ENDEAVORS!

    Hmmm I grew mine last spring as "cool flowers", planted them 6 weeks before my last frost and they did great. It was so scary planting them all that early! We got down in the 20's even.

    Great tips! Thank you for the video! I tried growing them from seeds last year. I had 2 plants and it gave 4 flowers. But I was away for all summer and couldn't take care but I realized I can grow! I bought 2 plants from Northhavens or Calloways I think, and they were very bushy and the stems were so short to use as cut flowers. But it did well in the container! Are the seeds from Botanical Interests good? or anything specific you use?

      +Pheba John I like to use the strawflower seeds from MIGardener and Johnny’s Selected Seeds … I’ve always had good luck with them!

    I'm not sure why my stawflowers grown from seed. Planted in full sun are not blooming? They have just grown so tall and have been planted since April in ohio

    • @shesamadgardener
      @shesamadgardener  Před měsícem

      If they aren’t pinched back in earlier stages, they will take a while to bloom. Don’t worry, mine are just getting going!

    I am growing them for the first time & the top part of the plant where the buds are just flop over, is that normal? I’m afraid I’ll break the stem if I tie it to a stake. Any suggestions?

    • @shesamadgardener
      @shesamadgardener  Před 2 lety

      +Doris Harber mine do that when they need water. Also these are cut and come again, so you can cut that stem leaving a couple of sets of leaves and it will produce more blooms.
